PRA organizes Christmas ornament contest in Pickens
PICKENS — The Pickens Revitalization Association is giving local residents the chance to demonstrate their holiday creative talents by creating unique tree ornaments that express Christmas ideas. Ornaments can be created in any media but must be original handcrafted designs and be able to hang on the contest Christmas tree.
The PRA will present a first, second and third place award in each of four divisions — elementary school, middle school, high school and adult. The prizes will be $25 for first place, $15 for second place and $10 for third. Winners will also be announced in the newspaper.
Entries will be judged by three Pickens residents on Nov. 28. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the Pickens Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. in Legacy Square.
Entries will be accepted at The Avocado Tree, 409 Johnson Street (just west of the Pickens County Museum) through Nov. 27. Store hours are Tues. – Fri. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For additional information, please contact Sharon at 630-3319 or Faye at 878-4460.
All entries will be on display at The Avocado Tree from Nov. 22-Dec. 22.
