STEVEN ALLEN SMITH

PICKENS — Steve A. Smith, 62, husband of Sherri Vanessa Lyda Smith, passed from this life Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Bruce Smith Jr. and Lee Anna Posey Smith. Steve was a carpenter and a member of Gap Hill Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years of the home, Sherri; daughters, Jessica (Jason) Swaynghame of Pickens and Vanessa Smith (ShaneBagwell) of Pickens; grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Jenna, Emily and Elijah; and a brother, Derrill (Laurie) Smith of Pickens.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 27 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home. Burial followed at Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

GLADYS JOHNSON

LIBERTY — Gladys Cooper Johnson, 93, of 935 Anderson Drive, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018.

Born in Liberty, she was the widow of Carl Lee Johnson and a daughter of the late Jeff and Viola Alexander Cooper.

She was retired from Singer and was a member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sisters, Lillian Odom, Betty Bowman, Shelba Owen and Faye Suddeth, all of Liberty. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ophelia “Johnie” Cooper and Jeffie Jones, and three brothers, Lloyd, Robert “Bob” and Floyd Cooper.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon-1 p.m. at the mortuary.

WALDEN “JUNIOR” HOLDEN

LIBERTY — Walden Griffin Holden Jr., 70, of 137 Velo View Lane, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Walden G. Holden Sr. and Frances Bailey Holden. He was retired from Bloxdorf Builders, where he built houses for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Holden of the home; a daughter, Stacy Chapman of Liberty; a son, Walden Holden III of Liberty; four sisters, Margaret Stonell, Betty Garren, Nancy Garren and Vickie Green; a brother, Robert Holden; six grandchildren, Brianna, Gage and Desbrin Chapman, and Hunter, Fisher and Lake Holden; and a great grandchild, Stratin Chapman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Holden, and a sister, Susan Holden.

Memorial services were conducted on Oct. 29 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel.

JOE BART NEALY

PICKENS — Joe Bart Nealy, 82, passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018.

Born in Pickens, he was the husband of the late Betty Gilstrap Nealy and son of Guy Welborn Nealy and Loy Belle Finley.

Mr. Nealy was a member of Grace UMC, served in the United States Air Force and was a retired deputy United States marshal.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Cumbee (Greg) and Clysta Fortner (Eddie), both of Easley; three grandchildren, Nealy Boyd, Jared Cumbee and Alexandra Cumbee, all of Greenville; a brother, Robert Nealy (Cindy), and a sister, Ellen Moses (Bob), both of Pickens.

Mr. Nealy was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Guy Welborn Nealy Jr. and William Nealy.

Graveside services were held on Oct. 30 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

EDNA H. CRUMPTON

EASLEY — Edna Rebecca Harbin Crumpton, 85, of Easley and wife of the late Willie J. Crumpton, passed from this life on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation of Pickens.

Born on Jan. 26, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Lee and Lina Carroll Harbin. She was a member of Graceway Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and completing crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her son, Mike Crumpton of the home; three daughters, Debbie Nabors (Mark) and Teresa Gray, both of Easley, and Wanda Hampton of Liberty; six sisters, Martha Jane Calvart (Ron), Jennifer Harbin, Marie Sloan, Maudie Wilbanks, Minnie Cromer and Shirley Lee; and two brothers, William Harbin and Benard Harbin. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edna was also predeceased by one brother, R.L. Harbin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, from 2-3 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ROGER KELLY

SIX MILE — Roger Dorn Kelly, 71, of Six Mile, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Six Mile, he was a son of the late Ralph and Eleanor Evatt Kelly.

He was retired from Duke Energy and was a member of Gap Hill Baptist Church. Roger served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and Gamecocks football.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Pinion Kelly of the home; a son, Russell Kelly of Greenville; and a sister, Nell Snipes of Six Mile.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leland, Hal and Ralph Kelly.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Kelly were conducted on Oct. 29 at Gap Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ANGELA DAWN NATIONS

PIEDMONT — Angela Dawn Nations, 21, of Piedmont, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Neal and Lisa Nations.

Angela was a graduate of Wren High School, employed by CVS in Easley, a member of White Plains Baptist Church and was very loved by her friends.

In addition to her parents, Angela is survived by a brother, Landon Nations of Piedmont; sisters, Tabitha Russell (Eric) of Williamston, Kristin Heydrich of Piedmont and Brittany Mayben (Troy) of Anderson; and paternal grandparents, Sylvia and Stephen Fishel of Piedmont. Angela also leaves many uncles, aunts and cousins to share in her memory. Angela was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Norman and Betty Davis.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

DESIREE JEANEEE THOMASON

MARIETTA — Desiree Jeanee Thomason, 53, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

Born in Greenville County, the daughter of Markola Crumpton McLaughlin of Marietta and the late David Leon Thomason, Desiree was a graduate of Cedar Springs School for the Deaf and Blind and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Desiree had a love for music and dearly loved to watch the Golden Girls. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her stepfather, James McLaughlin of the home; a brother, David Len Thomason (Kelli) of Lexington; a special aunt, Lenaet Bragg of Easley; a special cousin, Tammy Chapman (Eddie) of Easley; her boyfriend, Greg Powell; a niece, Jenna Thomason; and four nephews, Dalton and Cameron Thomason and Colby and Jonathan McLaughlin.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

RICHARD LEE PRICE

TOWNVILLE — Richard Lee Price went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1949, to the late Sim Beulah and Mildred Patterson Price.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia O’Kelley Price; two brothers, Ray and Ricky Price; and sisters, Elaine Price O’Kelley and Diane Price Pinion.

He is survived by a step-son, Keith Land of Utah; brothers, Jerry Price and Carlton Patterson; sisters, Joyce Holcombe and Martha McJunkin, all of Seneca; and a grandson, Dustin Land of Utah.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m.-noon at the Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum, with memorial services to begin at noon.

ELIZABETH JOSEPHINE HITT JAMESON

EASLEY — Elizabeth Josephine Hitt Jameson, 78, wife of the late Charles Cecil Jameson Jr, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 21, 2018, at her home in Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late George Kannon and Irene Griffin Hitt, Mrs. Jameson was a retired cafeteria worker for the School District of Pickens County, where she worked many years at Gettys Middle School, formerly Easley Junior High.

She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist, where she faithfully served as children’s Sunday school teacher, was a vital part of the WMU, served on the Benevolence Committee and spent time visiting shut-ins. She loved her church.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Jameson (Mark Youngblood) of Liberty and Keela Jameson of Easley; a grand-daughter, Allie Elizabeth Looper; two brothers, Johnny Hitt (Annette) and Jackie Hitt (Jill); four sisters, Linda Looper (Jim Ed), Barbara Williams (Dan), Alma Jeffcoat and Gladys Dunlap (James); two sister-in-laws, Claudette Hitt and Maggie Hitt; numerous nieces and nephews; and the Jameson family.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jameson was predeceased by three brothers, George Thomas, Allen and Frank Hitt; one brother-in-law, Jim Jeffcoat; and two nieces, Pam Spellen and Jessica Hitt.

The family would like to thank Agape Hospice and caregivers Janice Propes, Sallie Bowen and Alix Stokes for all of their loving care toward Mrs. Jameson during her time of illness.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 29 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Paul Turner. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

CHARLES W. FAGAN

CLEMSON — Charles William Fagan, 88, husband for 60 years of Susan Ann Gilbert Fagan, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at his home.

Born in Martin, Ga., he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Beulah Patterson Fagan. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural School and University of Georgia and graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga.

He worked for 32 years at the Pendleton Finishing Plant of Milliken Company in Pendleton and retired as the personnel manager. He was a former member of the Clemson Lions Club and Fellowship Club of Clemson, and served on the board of directors for Table Rock Resort. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Clemson, where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He then joined the Clemson United Methodist Church and was very active in the church life.

Charles was an Air Force veteran and was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyo., during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, woodworking and spending time with his family, and especially his loving wife.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Melanie F. Guill (Rusty) of Seneca and Debra F. Martin (Wayne) of Easley; and grandchildren, Brandon Martin (Alex), Kayln Guill Wood (Rich), Carson Brooks Guill and Ashleigh Ann Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Floreine Henderson and Ben Evelyn Holland.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 26 at Clemson United Methodist Church, with burial following in Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Collins Children’s Home, Clemson United Methodist Church or Pickens County Meals on Wheels.

TIMOTHY C. JAMEISON

EASLEY — Timothy Cheney Jameison, 87, of 110 Willow Place, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New York, N.Y., he was a son of the late Dr. Gerald Reid Jameison and Dr. Frances Halstead Jameison. He attended The Hackley School in Tarrytown, N.Y., and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.

He worked for McGraw Hill Publishing in New York, N.Y., for 27 years, and then later moved to Vero Beach, Fla., where he founded Jameison Publishing. He later sold and retired from his own company and moved to Upstate South Carolina.

During his time in Florida, he founded and published the following: The Indian River County Medical Guide, Senior Services Guide, Senior Bulletin Board and the Recreation Guide.

He enjoyed volunteering for the Mental Health Association in Vero Beach, Fla.

Mr. Jameison was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Sally Weber Jameison; two daughters, Linda Jameison of Greenville and Kathleen Cook (Dr. Royer Cook) of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Harold “Hal” Jameison of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Frances Wall (Byron Koh) of Amherst, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jackson Cook, and their parents, James and Karen Cook of Reston, Va. Also surviving are his loving pets, Momo and Marley.

No local services are planned. Private burial will take place in Kensico Cemetery in New York.
