EASLEY — Upstate cheerleaders from all over the area celebrated the grand opening of Easley’s newest business, Upstate School Spirit, recently.

Upstate School Spirit offers spirit and sports wear for six local school areas: Easley, Daniel, Liberty, Pickens, Powdersville and Wren. Visitors can even find some middle and elementary school spirit wear, too. Cheerleaders from each of the six areas came to Upstate School Spirit’s grand opening to show their support for the new venture.

Upstate School Spirit has T-shirts, hoodies, jewelry, bows, hats, water bottles, tumblers, lanyards, stadium chairs and much more for the local schools. Along with spirit wear, the new store offers professional screen printing and embroidery and promotional products for organizations and businesses.

Upstate School Spirit is owned by Pickens County native Anna Hitt Esuary.

“Most everything we have is made by local people,” Esuary says. She says many of Upstate School Spirit’s products are “Made by Hometown Hands.” Most spirit items like bows, crosses, and jewelry are handmade by people from the Upstate.

“Helping our local economy is important to us,” Esuary said. “That’s why we use local businesses, especially local crafters, as much as we can. It feels great to be able to promote the talents of others in our community.”

“We love working with our local schools and booster clubs,” she said. To prove the point, Upstate School Spirit is offering 10 percent of sales to local athletic and booster clubs during its grand opening week, which ends this Saturday.

“What makes Upstate School Spirit really special is that most everything they have is locally made. When you support Upstate School Spirit, you support our schools and other people in our community,” Liberty mayor Michael Sheriff said. “They also have six area schools represented. We don’t have a store like that anywhere in Pickens County.”

Upstate School Spirit is located in Easley at 1035-B South Pendleton Street in front of the old Walmart building and between Coyote Coffee and Subway.
