DAR helps provide a merry Christmas for local children
CLEMSON — The Wizard of Tamassee Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), brought brand-new, unwrapped toys to donate at its December luncheon in Clemson to the Oconee County Program of U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which includes providing Christmas gifts to children in the Clemson, Central and Liberty areas of Pickens County.
Del Williams, the coordinator of the Oconee County program, explained that the Marine Toys for Tots program is directed by the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, with the assistance of his staff, from the Marine Forces Reserve. The local Oconee County program covers Oconee County, the Pendleton area of Anderson County, and the Clemson, Central, and Liberty areas of Pickens County.
According to Williams, all financial contributions made in Oconee County are spent locally on underprivileged children, and each child receives four toys and an age-appropriate book. The addition of a book is a distinct
