JOHN MARSHALL HOLLOWAY
EASLEY — Mr. John Marshall Holloway, 85, husband of the late Betty Jean Bowens Holloway, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.
Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Ida Mae Robinson. Mr. Holloway worked at the Easley hospital for many years and later worked with the Easley Recreation Department. Many also knew him from the work he did at the flea markets selling Avon.
Mr. Holloway loved sports and he loved people. Anyone who knew him knows what a kind and gentle spirit he was. He will be greatly missed by all of his family friends.
Surviving are a son, George Davis of Liberty; and numerous loving family and friends.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Holloway was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Jean Holloway Robinson.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

IRENE GRIFFITH
LIBERTY — Irene King Griffith, 98, of Liberty, died on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Liberty on Oct. 10, 1922, she was the widow of William F. “Bill” Griffith and a daughter of the late Zuella Eugene and Lillie Campbell King.
She was a 1941 graduate of Liberty High School and later retired from Sangamo with 25 years of service. Mrs. Griffith was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church for 80 years, where she was the oldest member, and she also taught the junior Sunday school class.
Surviving are a sister, Iris K. Pepper of Easley; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Tollison of Easley, Virginia Byrd of Atlanta and Dot Griffith of Easley; a brother-in-law, Buddy Griffith (Bobbie) of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews, Janice O’Bryant (Paul), Gene Pepper (Sandy), Tommy King (Sharon), Roger King (Jeri), Barry Griffith (Jackie) and Brad Griffith (Sara).
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill King.
Funeral services to honor Mrs. Griffith’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
The service will be limited to 50 people, and the family has requested all in attendance wear masks. Social distancing will be observed. The livestream of the service will be available by visiting her tribute wall at libertymortuary.com.

JANICE LEE MILBERT
SENECA — Janice Lee Milbert, 80, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at the Hospital.
She was affectionately known as “Jan” by her friends.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1940, in Hillsdale, Mich. to the late Ross and Alice (Cutler) Bradford. Most of Janice’s youth was spent in Hillsdale, and she graduated from high school on June 12, 1957.
Following graduation from high school, Janice married Keith Miller and moved to Roseville, Mich., where Keith was an engineer for GMC. Eight years later, Janice and her daughter, Terri Dee, moved to Traverse City, Mich. Following her daughter’s graduation, Janice moved to Naples, Fla., where she was a hostess at Eagle’s Nest Resort.
She later married Arthur Milbert, who was a contractor, for many years in Naples, Fla. To distance themselves from the devastating hurricanes, Art and Janice moved to Seneca, where they enjoyed many years. Janice continued her job for Florida demolition company for many years and assisted Arthur in continuing his contracting license.
Janice enjoyed sharing decorating ideas with friends. She was also a talented artist, selling and showing her work at shops and galleries. During her time in Seneca, Janice and Art cultivated many friendships at their local watering hole and place of escape, “The Spot.” Many of these friends continued to support Janice after Art’s passing in 2018. One of these friendships turned into a special relationship that brought Janice great joy and much support over the last two years. Ron and Janice enjoyed many new experences, all the while Ron continued to be a pilar of support for Janice.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Miller, and two years ago, Arthur Milbert; parents, Ross and Alice (Cutler) Bradford; her Bradford grandparents; her Cutler grandparents; and a cousin, Kay (Bradford) Schmitt.
She is survived by her sister, Claudette (Bradford) Clark; daughter, Terri Dee (Marty) Gunaca; grandchildren, Zachary (Jessie) Schneider, Monica (John) Michelotti and Kindra Haugen of Washington State; and one great-grandson, Cash Miller Schneider.
Services were held on Oct. 12 at Keowee Funeral Services of Oconee Inc.
Pastor Matt Turner officiated the service.
Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens in Traverse City, Mich., at a later date.

ELBERT ‘BERT’ BOWERS LABOON
PICKENS — Elbert “Bert” Bowers LaBoon, 64, loving husband of 40 years to Anne Case LaBoon, passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 5, 1956, to the late Elbert “Boonie” Bowers LaBoon Sr. and Frances Sue Greer LaBoon in Newberry. A graduate of Easley High School, Class of 1974, Bert attended Tri-County Tech, Spartanburg Methodist College, the University of South Carolina, Furman University and Greenville Technical College.
Mr. LaBoon was owner and president of Foothills Flora and had his South Carolina certification in horticulture, landscape and design. He also had an apprenticeship as a master carpenter, building their home in 1982. He was the co-founder of Foothills Museum of the American Indian, as well as the co-founder of Bordercross Christian Fellowship.
Bert was a member of “The Fiddler’s Three” with the late Ed Bolt and the late J.C. Owens. For many years, they played music at Hagood Mill and other state and local events. He was also a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Easley. He loved music, gardening, woodworking, reading and writing.
Bert is survived by his loving wife, Anne; a wonderful son, Joshua Keith LaBoon of Pickens; a precious granddaughter, Bryce Cameron LaBoon; and brothers, David Benjamin LaBoon (Missy) of Easley and Amos Michael Smith of Easley.
In addition to his parents, Mr. LaBoon was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ben LaBoon and Louella Bowers Parkins; maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Estelle Greer; a brother, Stephen Allen LaBoon; and a sister, Frances Diane Smith Bradley.

BRIAN DOUGLAS SHELTON
EASLEY — Mr. Brian Douglas Shelton, 58, passed away on Oct. 9, 2020.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of James Douglas Shelton and Addie Geraldine Suddeth Stansell. Brian worked in the print shop at Bob Jones University. He loved art, especially painting.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two step-brothers, Willie Mack Stansell Jr. and Charles Stansell; two aunts, Kathy Shelton and Patricia Anne Redding; and an uncle, Paul Shelton.
Brian was predeceased by his stepfather, Willie Mack Stansell Sr.; and a stepbrother, Dean Stansell.
Graveside services were held on Oct. 13 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

ARTHUR ‘ART’ HENRY BREWER
EASLEY — Mr. Arthur “Art” Henry Brewer, 97, husband of the late Joyce Irene Kohn Brewer, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Samuel Louis Brewer and the late Sallie Lillian Bellotte Brewer, Mr. Brewer was a graduate of Parker High School and was the founding owner and operator of Easley Mechanical. He was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served in WWII.
Mr. Brewer was very active in his community, having been a charter member of the Pickens County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, a member of the Easley Exchange Club, the Easley Men’s Bridge Club and the American Legion Post 52, and served as past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of South Carolina.
Surviving are two sons, James Arthur Brewer (Eve), and Stephen Alex Brewer (Ophelia), both of Easley; a daughter, Janis Brewer Feaster of Easley; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Brewer was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Brewer; three brothers and six sisters.
The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

BILLY JOE MCCOLLUM
PICKENS — Mr. Billy Joe McCollum, 81, loving husband to Mildred Hayes McCollum of 61 years, of Pickens, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Mr. McCollum was born in Pickens on July 2, 1939, to the late Ralph Gordan and Essie Freeman McCollum. He retired from Duke Power as a welder and was an avid fisherman for anything that would bite. Mr. McCollum enjoyed his motorized toys, especially driving his 1939 Chevrolet sedan, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. McCollum is survived by two daughters, Sandy Noel (John) and Gail McCollum, both of Pickens; a son, Scott McCollum of Pickens; a sister, Winona Pelfrey of Easley; three grandchildren, Renee Turner (Matt) of Pickens, Phillip Martin of Pickens and Chelsea Washington (Ben) of Easley; and six precious great-grandchildren, Alexus Martin, Braxton Turner, Peyton Martin, Kennedy Martin, Finley Kate Washington, Cora Jo Washington and Alexis Crayne.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph “Junior” McCollum, John McCollum, Gerald McCollum and Doug McCollum.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the Rev. Billy Holder officiating. Family will be receiving friends after the service at Pop’s Place in the bottoms.

BETTY D. KELLY RAINEY
EASLEY — Mrs. Betty D. James Kelly Rainey, 82, wife of the late Jack Kelly and the late Harold Rainey, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Clifton James and the late Lela Leopard James, Mrs. Rainey retired from textiles and later retired from Walmart in Easley.
She was a former longtime member of Calumet Baptist Church and was a current member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Betty loved Clemson football, but her greatest love was her family. She will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew her.
Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Wilson of Easley; three grandchildren, Scott Wilson (Amy) of Pendleton, Ray Wilson (Mariea) of Easley and Regina Pennington of Easley; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Anna, Mason, Jackson, Carla, Kim and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Rainey was predeceased by two infant sons; a brother, Carl James; a sister, Mary Sheriff; and a great-grandson, Henry Holder.
Graveside services were held on Oct. 12 at Liberty Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating.

KENNETH DORSEY CHRISTIAN
EASLEY — Mr. Kenneth Dorsey Christian, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.
Mr. Kenneth Dorsey Christian was born in Martin, Ga., and was the son of the late Howard Christian and Ruby Scoggins Christian and loving husband to Carol Christian for 47 years.
Mr. Christian loved God and was a person who loved beach vacations, traveling and planning landscaping for his yard. He worked as an electronic technician. He loved his family, and especially his faithful dog, Lucy.
Survivors, along with his wife, Carol, include his daughter, Jennifer Gail Gasperson; and a brother, Boyce Christain (Louise) of Elberton, Ga.
Mr. Christian was predeceased by 10 siblings and his granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Gasperson.
A visitation was held at Dillard Funeral Home on Oct. 12. Burial followed at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Walter Ray Clark.

SENECA — Edyie Ballenger Crooks, 76, of Seneca, wife of Johnny Leland Crooks Sr., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.
Edyie was born in Greer to the late J.W. Ballenger and Mary “Bill” Ballenger.
Edyie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed being a full-time homemaker.
Edyie had the special ability to talk to anyone and valued spending time with her family. Edyie was an avid prayer warrior who loved to study God’s word. God and family were her heartbeat.
Eydie was survived by her children, Johnny Crooks Jr. (Kim), Lane Crooks (Tammy) and Andy Crooks; grandchildren, McKayla Roger (Dustin), Drew Crooks, Cassidy Crooks, Leland Crooks, Zack Patterson and Jared Justice; great-grandchildren, Hannah Justice and Elijah Justice; two nieces; four nephews; sisters, Kathie Ballenger and Glenda Wilson, and a brother, Doug Ballenger

DELONIA LEE MASTERS
PICKENS — Delonia Lee Masters, 56, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Pickens County, Mr. Masters was born on June 27, 1964, a son of the late DeLonia “Curly” Masters and Sarah Lee Medlin Masters.
Survivors include two brothers, Ricky Allen Martin of Marietta and Michael Anthony Masters of Pickens; one sister, Cheryl Dianne Frady of Pickens, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The families will be at their respective homes.

CENTRAL — Ricky Glenn Waters, 63, of Central, died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Anderson Area Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pickens, he was a son of the late Marvin Dillon and Addie Dorothy Chapman Waters.
He was retired from Michelin and was of the Baptist faith. He loved woodworking, fishing and deer hunting. While his girls were growing up, he loved watching them play softball and coaching them through the years.
Surviving are his loving wife, Tara Waters of the home; two daughters, Jana Hudson (Lamar) of Seneca and Melissa Burrell (Jeremy) of Liberty; a stepdaughter, Ashley Stutchman of Liberty; a stepson, Joshua Marquardt of Princeton, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Maddie Lewis, Raina Lewis, Kaila Marquardt, Sariah Marquardt, Isabella Marquardt, Easton Hudson, Harper Burrell, Kennedy Hudson, Odin Burrell and Cleo Ricketts; three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Olivia and Kyren; and two brothers, Charles Waters (Linda) of Anderson and Steve Waters of Central.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Waters; a sister, Frances Busha; and a granddaughter, Olivia Hudson.

BF MCJUNKIN
LIBERTY — BF McJunkin, 89, of Liberty, died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pickens, he was the widower of Mary Sue Gantt McJunkin and a son of the late Gene and Ethel Williams McJunkin.
Mr. McJunkin retired from Mayfair Mills and spent most of his free time farming. He was a member of Rices Creek Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are three daughters, Mandy Parker (Mike) and Jan Whitworth (Randy), both of Liberty, and Maria Wilson of Greenville; a son, Jerry Bolding (Susan) of Pickens; a sister, Nannie Bet Boggs of Pickens; two brothers, Harold and Donald McJunkin, both of Pickens; six grandchildren, Nicholas Bolding (Erica), Toby Parker, Matt Whitworth, Zack Whitworth (Jennifer), Logan Wilson (Baylee) and Caleb Whitworth (Ashton); and six great-grandchildren, Michaela and Colton Parker, Wyatt Whitworth and Kylie, London and Mayha Bolding.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Todd Parker, and three sisters, Azalee Evette, Ellen Boggs and Blanche Tucker.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. McJunkin were conducted on Oct. 9 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial was held at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

INEZ OWEN AMMONS
PICKENS — Inez Owen Ammons, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020.
Ms. Ammons was born in Jackson County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Josiah Galloway and Ila Bowen Galloway and wife to the late Willie Owen and then Albert Ammons.
Ms. Ammons was a seamstress by trade and worked for plants like Sir Shirtmaker, Galley Mill and Swirl Manufacturing. She was a longtime member at Maranatha Baptist Church in Pickens. Ms. Ammons loved to sing. She loved getting up in church and singing out in praise to her Lord and Savior. Her children loved her cooking, which included any type of game brought to the table, but especially her chicken and dumplings. She loved her family and never met a stranger. She was known to invent holidays just so she could entertain. Ms. Ammons loved and cherished everyone. She will be missed.
Survivors include sons, Gary Owen of Pickens, Faroll Owen of Pickens and Stanley Owen (Sue) of Pickens; and daughters, Vera Bowie of Pickens and Ophelia Ashe (Grady) of Pickens; four stepchildren; sisters, Betty Qulliams of Etawah, N.C., Lillian Staton (Eugene) of Brevard, N.C., and Edith McCall of Balsam Grove, N.C. Ms. Ammons is also survived by 21 loving grandchildren and numerous beautiful and precious great-grandchildren, including several great-great-grandchildren.
Ms. Ammons was predeceased by husbands, Willie Owen and Albert Ammons; sons, Jaroll Owen, Caroll Owen, Denver Owen and Alvin B. Owen; brothers, Andrew Galloway, Tillman Galloway and Walter Galloway; and sisters, Gertrude Queen and Ella Owen.
A chapel service was held on Oct. 8 at Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a special thanks to two nieces, Sherri Yvonne Roper and Laura Galloway, for their special care and attention to mother in her final days.

PICKENS — Mrs. Ruby Alma Duncan Breazeale, 81, of Mile Creek Road, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, with her husband of 62 years, Kenneth “Sonny” Breazeale, by her side.
Born Nov. 26, 1938, in the Enon community of Easley, Ruby was the daughter of the late Herman Alex Duncan and Maggie Lee Smith Duncan.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Freeman (Tim) of Pickens and Janice Roper of Easley; one son, Cody Breazeale (Julie) of Pickens; six grandchildren, Jenna Eller (Michael) of Six Mile, Stacy Lamb (Chase) of Easley, Brooke Freeman of Pickens, Eric Britton (Lucy) of Bismarck, N.D., Austin Breazeale (Maegan) of Pickens and Daniel Breazeale of Pickens; nine great-grandchildren, Colt, Wyatt and Adelyn Eller, Reagan, Ryleigh, Brantley and Avery Lamb, Abel Freeman and Emery Doolan; a step-great-granddaughter, Sierra Bergholm; two sisters, Elizabeth “Sis” Center and Gladys “Cricket” Gilstrap; and two brothers, Donald Duncan and Wayne Duncan (Viola).
She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Mary Parker and Judy Sentel, and two brothers, Alex Duncan and Ronald Duncan.
A graveside service was held on Oct. 8 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ABBEVILLE — Polly Ashley Scoggins, 89, formerly of 101 Pineview St., widow of Marion Scoggins, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late William Turner Ashley and Palmyra Saxon Ashley.
Polly was a retired textile employee, having worked at the Abbeville Sharon Plant. She was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church. Polly will be remembered for her loving and caring attitude toward other people and her witty personality.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Hair (James) of Liberty; a son, Joe Scoggins (Kathy) of Abbeville; a sister, Faye Ramsey of Greenwood; grandchildren, Rev. Daniel Scoggins of Texas, David Lawrence (Laura) of Abbeville, Wayne Lawrence of Abbeville, Shane Horton of Abbeville, Chad Scoggins (Andi) of Pelzer, Marian Varnadore (Coley) of Clemson, Christy Hair of Liberty and Gregory Hair of Anderson; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces, Barbara (Bunny) Campbell of Honea Path and Judy Lusk of Honea Path; and a nephew, Russell Ramsey.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jay Scoggins; a granddaughter, Aimee Scoggins; two brothers, Marvin Ashley and Otis Ashley; sisters, Lois Martin, Gertrude Ashley, Louise Able, Agnes Ashley, Doris Davis and Janice Reece; and a nephew, Larry Ashley.

BARBARA COPE KELLEY
LIBERTY — Barbara Cope Kelley, 78, wife of Kenneth Jack Kelley, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020.
Mrs. Kelley was the daughter of the late Lucille Gilstrap Cope and James Edward Cope. She was a member of Free Life Fellowship Church in Central.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years; one son, Rev. Stephen B. Kelley (Diane) of Liberty; two sisters, Jean Ann Whitfield and Brenda Brackens (Roger), both of Easley; two brothers, Mitchelle Cope (Sandra) of Liberty and Jimmy Cope of Central; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Kelley and Stephen B. Kelley II.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2-3 p.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home chapel, with a celebration service to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kelley was predeceased by her parents.

WILLIAM RONNIE ‘WILLIE’ WILSON
CENTRAL — William Ronnie “Willie” Wilson, 79, widower of Gail Lykins Wilson, passed away at his home following a short illness on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Ky., Willie was a son of the late Ronald Berkley and Retha Allen Wilson. He began a long work career with Richmond Gear in Richmond, Ind., and moved to the Upstate and retired as a supervisor with Richmond Gear in Liberty. He attended Alive Wesleyan Church and was affiliated with Friendship Fellowship Community Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Tina Parker (Stephen) of Pickens; son, Todd Wilson (Radna) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; brothers, David Allen Wilson of Shelbyville, Tenn., Darrell Wilson of Liberty, Jarrell Wilson of Fountain Inn, Ind., Gaylan Wilson of Pendleton, Ind., and Dale Wilson and Wayne Wilson, both of Richmond, Ind.; grandchildren, Amanda Parker Griggs (Wesley), Ashley Parker (Heather), Berkley Parker, Ashton Cheatham (Michael), Adam Wilson, Nike Pronk, Zizi Pronk and Vidan Pronk; and great grandchildren, Maddie Griggs, Sydney Griggs, Trinity Griggs, Joseph Griggs, Ari Parker and Collins Cheatham.
In addition to his wife, Willie was predeceased by brothers, Carl, Dan, Gary and Larry Wilson.
Services were held on Oct. 13 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with Rev. Allen Callahan officiating.
