• Fall book sale location has changed
The Pickens Literacy Association’s fall book sale will be at the Market at the Mill, located at 225 Pumpkintown Highway in Pickens. The sale will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and run through Saturday, Nov. 7. There will be daily specials, and Saturday will be $5 a box day.
• Concert and BBQ cook-off is Nov. 14
The Country Folks Will Survive Concert and BBQ Cook Off in Pickens on Nov. 14 will offer local residents a chance to party, tailgate style.
Gates will open for BBQ competitors at noon Friday, Nov. 13, and attendees at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.
Ticket prices start at $3 for kids’ general admission, with multiple add-on opportunities.Tickets are available online at countryfolkswillsurvive.com.
The event will take place at Market at the Mill in Pickens. The address is 225 Pumpkintown Highway. Award-winning vendors and food trucks will be on hand for the event.
Social distancing is encouraged, and free masks will be provided to attendees on request.
• Halloween fun this weekend in Six Mile
Six Mile’s Trick or Treat on Main Street will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday. Officials are currently working on guidelines for those giving out candy, as well as for community members who will be coming out for the fun. Anyone interested in giving out candy is asked to contact Six Mile Town Hall at (864) 868-2653. It is important for officials to have contact information for everyone interacting with the kids.
• Legion Post 52 plans Veterans Day event
Easley American Legion Post 52 will host a ceremony at Robinson Memorial Gardens, located at 1425 Powdersville Road in Easley, on Veterans Day Nov. 11. Veterans who have gone before us will be remembered and honored. The program will begin at 10 a.m. with a special guest speaker, U.S. Army chaplain Lt. Col. Timothy Wilson.
