Dorsey was married in 1968 to Harold Henderson. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage together until his death. From their union, two wonderful children were born, Rodney and Karen. Sadly, her son preceded her in death, but she is survived by her daughter.
She was a devoted, loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She was a kind, caring person who always took care of her family. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her favorite color was lavender, and she loved enjoying Jehovah’s creation. Dorsey enjoyed being outside and relaxing on her swing and lived for yearly vacations with her family. She was also a great cook, known for her fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, blackberry cobbler and broccoli cornbread. She loved good country-cooked meals, like cornbread and buttermilk. She loved her three grandchildren dearly, (Rodney, Karley and Makaela.) She was always at every important event for the kids and family. Family was everything to her.

She loved helping people to learn about Jehovah and devoted much of her time and energy sharing the hope of everlasting life on earth with others.
Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Psalm 37:29 “The righteous will possess the earth. They will live forever on it.”
She believed wholeheartedly that the fulfillment of these scriptures will come true when God’s kingdom begins ruling the earth and shared this hope with all she could.
Sadly, Dorsey lost her battle with multiple myeloma (bone cancer) on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Mourning her passing are her daughter, Karen Henderson-Rogers (Shaun); grandchildren, Rodney Harper, Karley Hunt and Makaela Rogers; sisters, Alberta Poole and Carrie Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews.

CHARLES ‘CHARLIE’ EDWARD SHIPMAN
GREENVILLE — Charles “Charlie” Edward Shipman went to eternity on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Charlie was born in Greenville on Feb. 9, 1940, the firstborn child of Drayton and Pansy Shipman. He was the oldest sibling to five sisters and four brothers, and he was so very proud of them all: Sue Childers, Glenda Conner, Marguerite Davis, Patricia Bradley, Sherry Patrick, Harold Shipman, Robert Shipman, Jimmy Shipman and Michael Shipman. He leaves behind his wife, Danielle; daughters, Marie Pritchett (Joel) and Sonya Skidmore (Brent); son, Phillip Shipman; and grandchildren, Ali Kent (Calton), Savannah Skidmore, Luke Skidmore, Peyton Shipman and Mitchell Shipman. He was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua Pritchett. He leaves behind great-grandchildren, Brody and Andie Kate Kent; and nieces, nephews, countless friends, colleagues and a legacy that will last in all of our memories for as long as we live and in our children and their children for generations to come.
Charlie was born in poverty, but gained treasures through adventure, relationships, travel and most of all through his service to others. He served our country in the United States Air Force. He served his family, extended family, friends and community for decades. He was the first college graduate in his family; he was a founding member of the Hejaz Air Squadron, flying children to and from Shriners Hospitals for lifesaving and life-changing treatments; he served our state and our community as chairman of the Drug and Alcohol Commission for many, many years and was instrumental in bringing an adolescent treatment center to the Upstate — recently renamed the Charles E. Shipman Center in Travelers Rest, where he raised his family and where kids’ and families’ lives will be forever changed because of Charlie.
If you’ve ever heard the story of “What did you do with your dash?” you’ll understand what drove my Dad. His life started in a little shack, in a little town way down where the Carolina moon shines bright under Palmetto trees. His life could nver be defined on the words of this page. His life can only be defined by what he did with his dash. That tiny little dash between the years of his life. From 1940-2021, Charles Edward Shipman did the best he could do, with all he could do, with that tiny little dash. He was an overcomer, a difference maker, a world changer, but to us … he’s our dad and we have been forever changed because he lived. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt our father in heaven said to him “Well done, my good and faithful servant. … Welcome home, my son, welcome home.” We love you, Daddy.
In lieu of a formal service and to honor their father’s wishes, a memorial drop-in hosted by his children is to be held at the Charles E. Shipman Center (formerly The White Horse Academy) at 975 Foothills Road in Greenville from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. All family and friends are welcome.
