FELIX SAULTER ‘JUNIOR’ HENDRICKS JR.

EASLEY — Felix Saulter Hendricks Jr., 82, loving husband to JoAnn Holden for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills — Cottingham House in Seneca.

A native of Pickens County, Felix was born on May 14, 1939, son of the late Hazel Stegall and Felix Saulter Hendricks Sr.

Survivors include one son, Tim Hendricks (Cynthia) of Easley; one daughter, Tammy Morris of Easley; six grandchildren, Derrick Morris (Kimberly) of Greenville, Emily Anne Morris (Austin) of Greenville, Addie Morris (Mike) of Easley, Bonnie Morris (Samantha) of Greenville, Donavan Hendricks (Taylor) of Pickens and Duncan Hendricks of Easley; one great-granddaughter, Amara Adams of Greenville; and two sisters, Mary Bryson and Gail Elgin, both of Easley. He is also survived by cousins, Sonia Rogers of Simpsonville, Tony Robinson of Alabama and Larry Robinson of Nevada, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Felix was predeceased by a brother, Jessie Hendricks, and a sister, Sandra Hendricks.

A graveside service was held on July 22 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley.

The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Levi Hannah, Hospice of the Foothills and the entire staff for the wonderful care they showed Mr. Hendricks.

Carol Ann Harless

EASLEY — Carol Ann Harless, 79, of Easley, died Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Charleston, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Earl Hansford and Eula Goff Moles.

She was raised in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated from Dupont High School. She worked as a secretary for Robinson Funeral Home and later Liberty Mortuary, where she retired.

Carol attended Truth Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a longtime member of Point Lick Gospel Tabernacle in Charleston, W.Va.

She loved traveling back home to West Virginia to visit family, spending time with her girls and her loving husband, Jim.

Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Jimmy L. Harless of the home; two daughters, Dena Bell of California, Md., and Michele “Missie” West (David) of Yorktown, Va.; two sons, Steve Harless (Sherry) of Wellford and Randy Harless of Mauldin; two brothers, Danny “Red” Moles and Larry “Allie” Moles, both of Charleston, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Justin Bell, Stephen Bell (Kaitlyn), Deanna Beck (Tyler), Caleb Irving, Zachary West, David West Jr., Evie Harless and Brandon Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Gavin, Hayden, Abigayle Rose “Rosie” and Harlyn Marie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ricky Bell; two sisters, Dorothy Hearn and Norma Gates; and brothers, Earl “Bubby,” Donald “Toe” and Kenneth “Wag” Moles.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Harless will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel, conducted by Rev. Sammy Kay Jr. and Dr. Sammy Kay Sr.. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. A livestream of the service will be available by visiting her obituary at libertymortuary.com.

LONNIE ERVIN

EASLEY — Lonnie William Ervin, 39, died on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his residence.

Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Melvin Eugene and Vickie Nichols Holliday.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but most of all he loved spending time with his babies.

Surviving, in addition to his mother of the home, is a son, Devin William Ervin of the home; a daughter, Iris Lea Ervin of the home; four brothers, Gene Holliday of Easley, David Harris of Pendleton, Ivan Harris of Slabtown and Travis Holliday of Easley; sisters, Pam Pierce of Easley, Trace Reid of Easley and Yolanda Holbrooks of Liberty; and an uncle, Larry Nichols of Liberty.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Renee Holliday.

The family hosted a memorial service on July 27 at First Baptist Church of Pendleton.

LOWELL AUSTIN ROPER

PICKENS — Lowell Austin Roper, 89, passed from this life on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

A native of Pickens County, Lowell was born on June 3, 1932, a son of the late Dewey Henry and Ellen Tretha Chappell Roper.

Survivors include his daughter, Veronica (James) Fletcher; sister, Faye Bayne; a sister of heart, Joyce Roper; stepchildren, Wanda (George) White, Sandra (Dean) Holt and Mary Patterson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Steve Fisher.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Roper was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Fisher Roper; daughter, Pam Hammett; brothers, Spence Roper, Charles Roper, Jack Roper, W.T. Roper and Ray Roper; and sisters, Katherine Hendricks, Ruth Simmons, Jeanette “Tot” Fisher and Tiney Roper.

A funeral service was held on July 27 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home.

MYRTLE HOLBROOKS

MOUNTAIN REST —  Myrtle Holbrooks, 79, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Feb. 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Leila Jefferson Wilbanks.

Ms. Holbrooks was a member of Return Baptist Church in Seneca. She was retired from Dunlop Sports.

Left to share in her memory are daughters, Laine Estep (Joe) and Angela Holbrooks; son, Steve Holbrooks (Tammy); sister, Jeanette Sanders (Ray); brothers, Clem Wilbanks (Mildred) and Milton Wilbanks (Betty); granddaughter, Lauren Estep; three step-grandchildren, Matthew Stegall, David Stegall and Tabatha Coker; and four step-great-grandchildren, Zachery Morgan, Bella Stegall, Lyla Stegall and Elizabeth Stegall.

A graveside service was held at the Belmont Baptist Church cemetery in Mountain Rest on July 22.

BARBARA LEE BANKS

PICKENS — Barbara Lee Banks, 84, wife of the late J.L. Banks, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Mrs. Banks was born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Noah Larkin Taylor and the late Corrie Bell Shelton Taylor.

Survivors include two sons, Rickey Banks (Lesley) and Ronny Banks; one daughter, Gail Holzer; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on July 26 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home.

Mrs. Banks was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 63 years, J.L.; three sisters; and three brothers.

FRANCES T. SIMPSON

EASLEY — Frances Turner Simpson, 89, of Brushy Creek Road, wife of the late Raymond Willis Simpson, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Florence Leroy Turner.

Mrs. Simpson was retired from Swirl Manufacturing after 20 years of dedicated service. She was a dedicated member of Victory Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles and growing beautiful flowers.

Surviving are her siblings, Joseph B. Turner (Jeraldine) of Easley and Cleo Turner Finley (Rev. Doyle) of Liberty, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Steve Simpson; and brothers, Edford, Ralph, Winfred and Lester Turner Jr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 28, from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
