Cruise-in planned at Market at the Mill
On Saturday, Aug. 21, from 5-10 p.m., the Market at the Mill will sponsor an event called the Summer’s End Cruise-In. It will be located at 225 Pumpkintown Highway in Pickens and will feature a carnival. The event is free to the public and will include food, music and giveaways every 30 minutes.

Soapstone to hold fish fry August 21
Soapstone Church invites everyone to a special fundraiser at the church, located at 296 Liberia Road in Pickens, on Saturday, Aug. 21.
The event will feature fine cooking and will be held from noon-8 p.m. Visitors will enjoy true Southern cooking, including a fish fry, barbecue and fried chicken with all the fixings right from Ms. Mable’s kitchen. For more information, call (864) 414-8470.

Cub Scouts plan activities for month
Cub Scouts offers a chance for young children to enjoy outdoor adventures. Here are some upcoming activities for the Pickens troop.
Saturday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m.-noon: Fishing clinic at Table Rock. No cost except for entry into the park. You do not have to be a member of Cub Scouts to participate.
Tuesday, Aug. 24, 7-8 p.m.: Drop by the Doodle Trail Pavilion in Pickens to get more information on Cub Scouts, meet the leaders and sign up for the upcoming year.
Sunday, Aug. 29, 2 p.m.: Scout Day at Greenville Drive. Tickets are $8 per person, but the pack will provide a free ticket to any child who is interested in joining Cub Scouts.
Monday, Aug. 30, 7 p.m.: Cub Scout kickoff meeting at Troop 51 Scout Hut at 188 Blacksnake Road in Pickens.

Anderson reunion set for August 22
The family of Joseph Rugless and Nancy Nealy Anderson will hold its annual reunion on Sunday, Aug. 22, at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, located at 644 E. Preston McDaniel Road in Pickens. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The family hopes all attendees have had thier COVID-19 vaccinations.
