DORIS EMMALINDA TOMPKINS MAULDIN

SIX MILE — Mrs. Doris Emmalinda Tompkins Mauldin, 86, passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021.

Doris was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Pickens County. She was the daughter of the late Avery J. Tompkins and Freddie Mae Seaborn Tompkins and loving wife to the late James Robert Mauldin.

Mrs. Mauldin was of the Baptist faith and a member at Praters Creek Baptist Church. She loved her antiquing and was an avid collector of glassware and furniture. She loved her gardening and landscaping. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and cheering for the Clemson Tigers. More importantly, she loved reading scripture and her Lord.

Surviving include a son, Robert Mauldin (Nancy) of Liberty, and a daughter, Angela Winchester (Danny) of Six Mile. Surviving are six loving grandchildren, Kristen Gilstrap, Kayla Hines, Kyle, Alexis and Blake Winchester and Carson Mauldin. Also surviving are five most loving and precious great-grandchildren, Everly, Ember, Lauren, Caroline and Bergen. She leaves behind nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, Lori and Barry Bishop and Tina and Tony Stewart.

Mrs. Mauldin was predeceased by a son, Randy Mauldin; grandson, Clint Winchester; a brother, Wallace Tompkins; and a sister, Jo Ann Stewart.

A memorial service for Mrs. Mauldin will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m., at the Dillard Memorial Funeral Home chapel at 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671. A visitation will follow the service.

GEORGE DONALD ‘DON’ MOORE

PICKENS — George “Don” Donald Moore, 92, went to heaven to be with his Lord and wife, Frances Looper Moore, on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021.

Don was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Greer, to the late George and Annie Lou Hogan Moore. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Secona Baptist Church in Pickens. At church, Don was a part of numerous committees, including serving as a deacon and teaching the Junior Boys Sunday School class. He was the co-founder of Moore Brothers Oil Company in Pickens and served as chairman of the board of directors for Cannon Memorial Hospital when it was first constructed. In his spare time, Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don served as a Pickens City Councilman and volunteered as a Pickens firefighter for many years.

Surviving are his son, Jerry Moore (Cynthia); daughter, Susan Rutherford (Donald); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Fannie Reece, and brother, Arthur Lee Moore.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 17 at Secona Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Bevill officiating. The committal service followed the services at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

SANDRA COX-FRUIA

SUNSET — Sandra Cox-Fruia, 58, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021.

Born Oct. 9, 1963, in Stanton, Texas, she was the daughter of Laura June Cox.

Sandra was retired from more than 20 years of finance with BB&T.

She loved fishing, flowers and traveling, but she received the most joy from blessing her family and friends with gifts and acts of service.

Sandra brought energy to any room she was in.

She is survived by her husband, Blake Fruia; daughter, Amanda Redmond; mother, June Cox; brother, Gene Cox; and sisters, Debra Brinson and Pam Cox.

The family received friends on Oct. 15 at the Fruia residence.

 

RICHARD ‘RICKY’ GALLOWAY

EASLEY — Richard “Ricky” Weldon Galloway, 61, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Dora Elizabeth Howard Stancil and the late Weldon Haines Galloway.

Ricky was a skilled carpenter and loved making furniture for his family. He was a wonderful and loving father, son, brother and grandfather.

In addition to his mother, Ricky is survived by a daughter, Leslie Tipton; a son, Anthony Tipton; a brother, William “Billy” Galloway; a sister, Lisa Reid; four grandchildren, Gianna, Cloe, Bailey and Kingston; and a special friend, Sheila Galloway.

LISA CARTEE LOLLIS

PICKENS — Lisa Deanne Cartee Lollis, 49, died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of B. Michael “Mike” and Donna Dill Cartee. Lisa will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her “Never Give Up” attitude as she battled many ailments over the last 12 years.

Lisa was a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School and was currently the project coordinator at Southern Real Estate & Development Inc.. She had previously worked at King Asphalt for many years.

Surviving, in addition to her parents of Pickens, are a daughter, Faris Williams (Mike) of Easley; a sister, Mary Ann Edens (Michael) of Pickens; and a nephew, Logan Edens of Pickens.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Cartee.

Memorial services to honor Lisa’s life were conducted on Oct. 20 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. A private inurnment took place at Liberty Memorial Gardens. A livestream of the service is available by visiting her obituary at libertymortuary.com.

DINAH LYNN ALFORD RAMPEY

EASLEY — Lynn Alford Rampey, 66, wife of Tommy Rampey, slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Millie Wolfe Alford.

Lynn worked for 36 years at hospitals in Greenville and Easley as a neo-natal nurse, dedicated to helping the smallest babies survive and thrive. She was a member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Lynn is survived by a daughter, Heather Rampey Hood (Derrick) of Tennessee; a son, Kyle Rampey (Jessie) of Easley; a brother, Wendell Alford (Denise); a sister, Kathy Roberts; and grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Hood and June Rampey.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Kay Alford Jones.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 17 at Robinson Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

FRANCES MATHIS

LIBERTY — Frances McCall Mathis, 93, died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at AnMed Health Cannon Hospital.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late William McCall and Evelyn Chandler Hughes.

She worked many years for Theodore Accounting, and later retired from DSS in Greenville. She was a longtime member of Liberty Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a son, Andy Mathis of Liberty; a daughter, Elaine Cole of Liberty; five grandchildren, Travis Shelton, Sandy Johnson, Devin Mathis, Alexis Mathis and Lacey Mathis; and a great-granddaughter, Grace Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Milton Mathis and Timothy Mathis.

No services are planned at this time, however, a private burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Liberty.

KENNETH ‘KENNY’ BOLDING

CENTRAL — Kenneth “Kenny” M. Bolding, 69, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at his home, with his family by his side.

A native of Pickens County, Kenny was born Jan. 23, 1952, a son of the late James L. Bolding and Betty S. Bolding. Mr. Bolding was a devout member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley. He was a huge Clemson Tiger fan. He enjoyed fishing, loved God and loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his sons, Kevin Bolding of Pickens, Travis Bolding (Lorie) of Liberty, Brook Bolding of Easley and Brad Bolding (C.J.) of Greenville; grandchildren, Mackenzie Kelley, Kaleb Bolding, Bryson Bolding and Colton Bolding; sister, Susie Dove (Bobby); and a special niece, Jennifer Alexander (Chris) and her children, Alexis, Benji, Anna and Trevor.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bolding was predeceased by his brothers, James “Bo” Bolding, Larry Bolding and Robbie Bolding; and a sister, Baby Sharon Bolding.

A visitation was held on Oct. 18 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with the funeral service following in the chapel. Burial was at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley.

EVELYN STEWART CROWE

SUNSET — Evelyn Stewart Crowe, 99, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at the home of her daughter.

A native of Newport, Tenn., Evelyn was born on March 9, 1922, daughter of the late Robert Street and Velma Rowland Street. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Survivors include a son, Dale Stewart (Pat) of Sunset; a daughter, Norma Owens (Dale) of Pickens; a stepson, Guy Crowe Jr. of Pickens; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Stewart of Sunset; grandchildren, Heather, April, Jason, Jake, Casey, Chris and Holly; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crowe was predeceased by two husbands, John Clarence Stewart and Guy Thomas Crowe; two sons, Gary Stewart and Johnny Stewart; a grandson, Jonathon; a brother, Eston Street; and two sisters, Bertha Stockton and Jessie Chapman.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 2-3 p.m. in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery, 3450 Table Rock Road, Pickens, SC 29671.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ BUSBY

LIBERTY — William Floyd “Bill” Busby, 80, died on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Lavonia, Ga., he was a son of the late Frank Floyd and Dolly May Busby.

He retired from Piedmont Mechanical, where he worked as a welding inspector for many years.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jeannie Tucker Busby of the home; two sons, Todd Busby of the home and Brandon Busby of Iva; a daughter, Debra Eades of Greenville; 14 grandchildren, Kristin Lamb, Damien Eades, Michelle Slatton, Jessica Busby, Justin Hammond, Kaitlyn Busby, Oasis Hammond, Jared Busby, Joelle Busby, Damion Potter, Chloe Potter, Mackenzie Busby, Patrick Busby and Sienna Busby; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Hammond, and a son, Jimmy Busby.

CHARLES DAVID ‘CHUCK’ SIMPSON SR.

PICKENS — Charles David “Chuck” Simpson Sr., 73, husband of Brenda Schultz Simpson, passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.

Chuck was born in Greenville County on Aug. 31, 1948, a son of the late Charles Thad Simpson and Lillie Causby Simpson. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, former deputy sheriff of Pickens County, a member of the Marine Corps League and past  member of the Point Man International ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Charles Simpson (Amanda) of Hickory Tavern, Jacqueline Mauldin (Eddie) of Simpsonville and Matthew Simpson (Angie) of Greer; stepchildren, Eric, Amy and Josh; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Thad Simpson, Jimmy Simpson and Jackie Simpson.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Lori Lacina.

Funeral services for Chuck were held on Oct. 15 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with visitation before. Burial was held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Oct. 19.

BRENDAN R. SMITH

LIBERTY — Brendan R. Smith, 65, loving husband of 32 years to Laura Lee Smith, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Brendan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Saddle Brook, N.J. Mr. Smith was born Sept. 26, 1956, a son of the late John and Marian Powers Smith.

Brendan was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved both NASCAR and NHRA racing and was a train enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Lee Smith of the home; his siblings, Gordon Smith and Barbara Sokol; his nieces and nephews, Lisa Smith, Denise Matus, Michael Smith and Jessica Morgan (Anthony); and his four feline children, Angel, Pumpkin, Shadow and Bandit.

Mr. Smith was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial services to honor Mr. Smith will be held at a later date.

JOEL R. HARRIS

EASLEY — Joel “Joe” Reldon Harris, 61, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Paul Reldon Harris and the late Nettie Mae Reynolds Harris.

Joe was a member of Liberty Church of God of Prophecy and loved to go to church. After moving to Easley, Joe became a part of Lenhardt Christian Fellowship, a division of The Church of God of Prophecy. Joe loved his church family and enjoyed many activities that he was included to be a part of.

Joe lived at West End Retirement Center for 15 years until going in the hospital in February of this year. He made many special friends there. Joe loved people, was friendly and made friends easily. He loved working with Better Skills Inc., a nonprofit agency to assist individuals with disabilities and special needs. He also loved helping around his home, the retirement center.

Joel is survived by brothers, William E. Harris (Mildred), Kenneth R. Harris and James A. Harris, all of Liberty; sisters, Doris H. Bennett (Ronnie) of Cottageville and Sandra H. Ford (Keith) of Easley; and s sister-in-law, Callie Harris. Joe had a special relationship with several nephews and a niece, Cathy Bennett. He also had a special friend at the retirement center, Marion Gayle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Harris Tyras Finley; and brothers, Carl A. Harris and LeeRoy Harris.

Funeral services were held at Lenhardt Christian Fellowship.

DAISY MARIE MOLLOHAN

ANDERSON — Daisy Marie Mollohan, 91, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, in the evening surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

She was born and raised in Kentucky, but spent most of her life in Florida, marrying and raising her family of six. She later retired with her husband in Salem, Ark., and then finally moved to South Carolina to live the last 20-some years. She thoroughly enjoyed raising her family and later especially getting them all together to hear of good times and stories told.

Daisy had a love of the mountains and enjoyed the years of camping and visiting them. Her favorite hobby was decorating her house and making it a comfortable home for all the family.

She will dearly be missed by all her friends and family left behind, but she is in the arms of the Lord now and with her husband, Charles Sr., and her eldest son, Charles Jr., with whom she was especially eager to be reunited.

She is survived by her sons, William and Daniel; her daughter, Maria; her grandkids, Stacy Plessinger, Tiffany Wilson and Nathaniel Mollohan; and her great-grandkids, Aliya and Amaya Wilson and Peyton, Brentley and Bradley Brown. She also is survived by her brother, Robert Yochum.

There will be no funeral services, as she requested just a small family gathering to celebrate her life.

MARGIE EDMISTON

LIBERTY — Marjorie Laverne “Margie” Edmiston, 73, died on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Dawson, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Paul and Eloise McNeil Flournoy.

Margie enjoyed watching television and loved time with her babies. For 20 years, she fulfilled one of her dreams by living at the beach.

Surviving are a son, Tim Greathouse (Sherry) of Liberty; two grandchildren, Heather Edmond (Nathan) of Easley and Natasha Stamey (Chris) of Easley; a sister, Bobbie Jones; a brother, Larry Flournoy; and four great-grandchildren, Carter Edmond, Braylen Edmond, Braden Stamey and Blane Stamey.

The family will host a gathering at her apartment in Liberty, 120 N. Peachtree St., Apt. 114, on Sunday, Oct. 24, between the hours of 2-4 p.m.

The family will be at their respective homes.
