BARBARA GALLOWAY OWENS

LIBERTY — Barbara “Jane” Galloway Owen, 72, of Blue Ridge Drive, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at NHC Healthcare of Anderson.

Born in Pelzer, she was the widow of Clyde Terry “Ted” Owen and a daughter of the late Tillman Hope and Elizabeth Jane Boyce Galloway. She was retired from the School District of Pickens County, where she had taught at several schools, most recently as the special education teacher at Pickens High School. She enjoyed shagging and cooking, but mostly spending time with her family. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelley McCullough (Johnny) of Pelzer; a son, Zachary Owen (Teresa) of Liberty; a brother, Tim Galloway of Williamston; five grandchildren, Karsen McCullough, Haygen McCullough Johnston (Drew), Owen Grace McCullough, Payten McCullough and Duncan Owen; and one great-grandchild, Mollie Marie Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Foundation For Geriatric Education, P.O. Box 1327, Anderson, SC 29622.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Owen were held at Liberty Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 22, conducted by Rev. Carlton Cleveland.

JENNIFER MARIE BLALOCK

EASLEY — Jennifer Marie Blalock, 42, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Born in Oconee County, she was a graduate of Easley High School, employed with Precision Valve-Travelers Rest and was of the Baptist faith. Jennifer loved cats, watching football and hockey, but her greatest love was for her daughters, grandchildren and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her parents, Denver Jerome Burrell (Anna Burrell) of Walhalla and Pamela Turner Brown (Billy Brown) of Easley; her two daughters, Jessica Brissey of Jaffrey, N.H., and Amber Ramey (Matthew Hendricks) of Easley; her companion, Jason Butler of Greenville; her sister, Tonya T. Parks (Richard) of Mooresville, N.C.; and her two grandchildren, Autumn Smith and Trinity Smith.

Funeral services were held on April 23 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with Rev. Stewart Hendricks officiating. Burial followed at Westview Cemetery in Easley.

JOE HUNTER SR.

 

LIBERTY — Joe Richard Hunter Sr., 91, widower of Clara Bagwell Hunter and a longtime Liberty resident, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice House.

Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late James Waldo and Jennie Sorrells Hunter.

Mr. Hunter retired from Pickens County, where he was a deputy tax assessor, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty. He loved studying the bible, art and old cemeteries. He was affectionately known as the “Grandfather of Mapping in Pickens County.”

He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Pressley (Danny) of Liberty; a son, Richard Hunter (Tammy) of Liberty; two grandchildren, Scott Pressley and Erin Cooper (Matthew); and a great-grandson, Hunter Cooper.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Parker and Mary Jones; and three brothers, John and Jimmy Hunter and Charles Edwards.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Joe Hunter were held on April 22 at Westview Cemetery.

BRENDA SUE ‘SUSIE’ EVERETT

PICKENS — Mrs. Brenda Sue “Susie” Everett, 71, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Mrs. Everett was born in Greenville County and was the daughter of the late Fred Riddle Jr. and Ollie Mae Arnold Riddle and loving wife to the late Bill Everett.

Survivors include a son, Brian Everett (Rosia) of Pickens; daughter, Keitha Abercrombie (Scott Akey) of Minneapolis, Minn.; and seven precious grandchildren, April Everett, Justin Everett, Jamie Everett, Taylor Abercrombie, Angel Everett, Tony Roberts and Sheila Roberts. Also surviving are most loving great-grandchildren, Bradyn, Karter, Brantley, Phillip, Kaysen and Rowan. Mrs. Everett has three living brothers, David, Danny and “PeeWee” Riddle, and one sister, Bonnie Davis.

Mrs. Everett was predeceased by her brothers, Bobby and Ronnie Riddle, and a sister, Marie Riddle.

Mrs. Everett enjoyed her family and spoiled her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her family meant the world to her. She did enjoy the occasional TV soap opera and professional wrestling match.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 10 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671. Family will be available to visit after the service.

CAROLYN H. TRAMMELL

EASLEY — Mrs. Carolyn H. Trammell, 80, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born on May 14, 1941, in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late William Jason Haulbrook and Kathryn PorterHaulbrook.

Mrs. Trammell was of the Baptist Faith and attended Jones Avenue Baptist Church with her husband of 61 years, Lee R. Trammell of the home. Together, they enjoyed traveling, and some of their adventures included Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas and Israel.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Michael Trammell of Easley and Mark Trammell of Anderson; two grandsons, Justin Trammell of Piedmont and Matthew Trammell of Liberty; a brother, Raymond Holbrook (Margaret) of Liberty; sister, Helen Fields (Riley) of Greenville; and Malinda Vera Cruz (Valen) of North Carolina.

No formal services are scheduled at this time.

DOROTHY ANN WOODRING LAIL

PICKENS — Dorothy Ann Woodring Lail, 75, wife of the late Johnnie Norman Lail, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022.

Born in Transylvania County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Early and Elsie Rosetta Golden Woodring.

Mrs. Lail retired as an inspector with T and S Brass and Bronze Works Inc.

Mrs. Lail is survived by a son, Michael Edwards (Lora) of Liberty; three daughters, Barbara Perry (Benji) of Pickens, Shannon Owen (Brad) of Easley and Crystal Skoog (Benjamin) of Central; sisters, Mary Louise Rogers of Easley and Bessie Mae Teague of Liberty; a brother, Robert Stokes Woodring of Brevard, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ashley Frazier, Tim Edwards, Alicia McFalls and Eli Owen; and seven great-grandchildren, Jada, Kenley and Amiyah Frazier, Wylie McFalls and Madalyn-Reece, Tillman and Silas Edwards.

In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Lail was predeceased by sisters, Emma Jane Russell and Betty Lou Hall; and brothers, Joseph E. Woodring Jr., James Brison Woodring and Vernon Ray Woodring.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m., on Wednesday, April 27, at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 27, at the funeral home.
