REGINA LYNN ELLENBURG

CENTRAL — Regina Lynn Ellenburg, 59, died on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at AnMed Health Cannon Hospital.

Born in Whitmire, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. Jones and Violet Whitlock.

Mrs. Ellenburg was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, April Woodall (Kenny) of Central; a son, Wayne Ellenburg (Michelle) of Central; three sisters, Lisa Whitlock, Gail Bowie and Glenda Jones; a brother, Tony Jones; six grandchildren, Josh Rollins (Summer), Kaitlynn Gowan (Mark), Bayleigh Ellenburg, Katie Woodall, Khloe Ellenburg and Avery Woodall; and three great-grandchildren, Joanna, David and Autumn.

Funeral services to honor Mrs. Ellenburg’s life were conducted on July 11 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ANNA BURKETT

PICKENS — Anna Marie Hoilman Burkett, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 8, 2022, at her home.

Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of Margie Hendricks Hoilman and the late Paul Clayton “Fuzz” Hoilman.

She was a 1986 graduate of Pickens High School and later received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Wesleyan University.

Currently she was employed at Lockheed Martin, where she worked as a buyer. Anna loved kayak fishing and reading. She loved her family, and her world revolved around her husband and son.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 22 years, Dale Burkett of the home; a son, Clayton Burkett of the home; a brother, Avery “Boogie” Hoilman and his wife, Joy, of Liberty; her father-in-law, Charles Burkett of Pickens;  and numerous other family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

G’NELL THOMPSON GILSTRAP

PICKENS — G’nell Thompson Gilstrap, 85, wife of the late Lt. Col. Billy James Gilstrap Sr., passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at her home.

G’nell was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1955.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Gilstrap (Sharon) of Greer; grandchildren, Jarred Gilstrap (Cryste), Lindsey Hiott (Wes), Elizabeth Gilstrap (John Wycoff), Katie Garrett (Jon), Madison Gilstrap (Alex North), Will Gilstrap and Jake Gilstrap (Molly Smith); great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Gilstrap, Karis Gilstrap, Hadley Hiott, Kennedy Garrett, Brannon Gilstrap, Hayes Hiott, Benjamin Gilstrap and Nick Benitez-Gilstrap; and a sister, Achsa Rollins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Billy James Gilstrap Sr.; a son, Col. Billy James (Jim) Gilstrap Jr.; her parents, Haskell Benjamin Thompson and Eliza Jane Floyd Thompson; three sisters; four brothers; and a longtime companion, Ken Bragg.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in G’nell’s honor.

WILLIS F. PILGRIM

NORRIS — Willis F. Pilgrim, 82, of Jule Merck Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Cottingham Hospice House, surrounded by his family.

Born in Six Mile, he was the widower of Martha Merck Pilgrim and a son of the late Virgil and Clara Whitman Pilgrim.

He retired from Champion Aerospace and was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved raising cattle.

Surviving are a son, Nathan Pilgrim and his wife, Alesha, of Central; a brother, Dean Pilgrim and his wife, Jean, of Central; five grandchildren, Ethan Marcus, Maegan Breazeale (Austin), Briana Pilgrim, John Richardson and Madison Youngblood; and three great-grandchildren, Landyn Davis and Bentley and Annsley Breazeale.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Marcus.

Funeral services were conducted on July 6 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Private entombment took place at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

ANDY MELVIN AUSTIN

EASLEY — Mr. Andy Melvin Austin, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Andy was born in Ila, Ga., on Jan. 19, 1940, to the late Wylie and Mary Elizabeth Austin. He loved being outdoors and working in his garden. Andy was a Clemson fan and enjoyed talking to people. He was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

Mr. Austin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patsy Freeman Austin; a son, David Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by three brothers, William Austin, Robert Austin and J.B. Vaughn; and three sisters, Susie Cobb, Minnie Arnold Turner and Edna McIntire.

Funeral services were conducted on July 7 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, with interment following at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family is at the residence.

WILLIAM JOSEPH ‘BILLY’ EDWARDS SR.

PICKENS — William Joseph Edwards, 65, loving husband of 45 years to Gail C. Edwards, went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2022, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pickens County, Billy was born on Jan. 25, 1957, to the late Harley B. Edwards Jr. and Mildred Durham Edwards. He was a graduate of Pickens High School and a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church and served our country in the United States Army. Billy worked for Moore Brothers/Balliew Oil Company for more than 26 years, where he was proud to drive his tanker truck. He loved his four sons, his grandkids, gardening, farming, tractors, working with wood, helping others and his coffee time on the porch with his loving wife. Billy was a gentle, kind, simple and humble man.

In addition to his wife, Gail C. Edwards of the home, Mr. Edwards is survived by his sons, William J. Edwards Jr., Matthew Edwards (April), Bradley Edwards and Travis Edwards (Brooke), all of Pickens; his grandkids, Kaitlynn Edwards, Cristian Smith, Melanie Edwards, Brayden Parker, Noah Edwards, Morgan Parker, Eli Edwards and Abbigail Edwards; his siblings, Judy Bentley, John H. Edwards, Cathy Gilstrap, Pam Crenshaw (Leon) and Richard Edwards (Jena); his sisters-in-law, Gena Gibson and Doris Holliday; his brother-in-law, Scott Gibson; several nieces and nephews; his special friends, Jerry Moore and Al Moore; along with his second family at Moore Brothers/Balliew Oil Company.

Mr. Edwards was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Donnie Edwards; father-in-law, Gene Chapman; mother-in-law, Georgia Chapman; and a brother-in-law, John Chapman.

Flowers will be accepted.

Graveside services will take place on Sunday, July 17, at 3 p.m., at Edwards Family Cemetery, located at 138 Edwards Drive in Pickens.

KYLE JAMES ‘GREEN GOBLIN’ PERRY

PICKENS — Kyle James “Green Goblin” Perry, 32, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Greenville.

Born on Feb. 15, 1990, in Watertown, N.Y., he was the son of Roy Perry and the late Peggy Sue Riley of Pickens.

Kyle was an avid motocross enthusiast who enjoyed racing motorcycles and was an aspiring mechanic.

In addition to his father, Roy Perry (Shannon Wilson), Kyle is survived by his grandparents, Roy J. Perry and Joann Perry of Brooksville, Fla., and his cousins, Matt, Nick and Connor.

Mr. Perry was predeceased by his grandmother, Carole Agnes Trexler of St. Augustine, Fla.

BARBARA CRYMES

PICKENS — Barbara Crymes, 72, wife of the late Jerry Crymes, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at her residence.

Mrs. Crymes was born on Jan. 28, 1950, to Lucille Dillard of Easley and the late Thomas C. Dillard. She enjoyed cooking and reading and loved her granddaughter. Everyone was loved as they entered her home.

Survivors include her son, Richard Crymes (Crimsen) of Pickens; her granddaughter, Peyton Crymes; her mother, Lucille Dillard; and a brother, Danny Dillard (Nancy).

Mrs. Crymes was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Crymes, and her father, Thomas C. Dillard.

Live plants will be accepted.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
