GLENDA GAIL DALTON

MARIETTA — Glenda Gail Dalton, 55, loving wife of 36 years to Kevin Dalton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 24, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pickens County, Gail was born on Dec. 19, 1966, the daughter of the late Nancy Norris and Hagood Norris Sr. Gail was a member of Dacusville United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Pickens High School and Greenville Technical College. She had a career in the medical field for many years before becoming a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a fierce protector of her children and a doting grandmother. Gail loved gardening and cooking, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family. Gail will be remembered most for her love for others and her outgoing and compassionate spirit.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Dalton of the home; a son, Chad Dalton of the home; a daughter, Gretchen Were (Douglas) of Richmond, Va.; a grandson, Anthony Were; two sisters, Tina House (Billy) and Kim Childers; nieces, Erica, Amanda, Sabrina, Ally and Summer; and nephews, Ethan, Clay and Craig.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton was predeceased by her brother, Hagood Earl Norris Jr.

Visitation was held on Oct. 27 in the sanctuary of Dacusville United Methodist Church. Funeral services were to follow. Burial followed the service at Dacusville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted.

WILLIAM R. WAGNER JR.

LIBERTY — William Robert Wagner Jr., 75, died on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Wagner was a former resident of Horseheads, N.Y., Elmira, N.Y., and West Palm Beach, Fla. He was the husband of Pat Ulery Wagner and was a retired law enforcement officer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Liberty Mortuary and Cremation Services are handling arrangements.

 

DANIEL BENJAMIN NICHOLS

LIBERTY — Daniel Benjamin Nichols, 69, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Carl and Ollie Collins Nichols.

Daniel could build anything and was a master at carpentry. He also loved to deer hunt and raise his chickens. He attended Flat Shoals Baptist Church.

Daniel is survived by a daughter, Shannon Hardenbrook (Samuel) of Liberty; sons, Shane Nichols (Amanda) and Chris Nichols (Sabrina Cox), both of Six Mile; sisters, Margaret Porter of Salem and Carolyn Edens of Seneca; nine grandchildren, Justin Hardenbrook (Shelby Vidal), Daniel Nichols (Alisha Bolding), Adam Nichols (Stephanie DePaulis), Heaven Nichols (Charlie Kelley), Skyler Hardenbrook (Vivian Gambrell), Shea Nichols, Jacob Hardenbrook and Patience and Madison McAlister; and seven great-grandchildren, Aralyn, Azalyn and Danny Nichols, Laven Kelley, Raelyn Hardenbrook, Ava Herron and Hennesee Wright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Gail Scruggs and Vicky Swafford; and brothers, Kenneth and Roger Nichols.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 1 at Mount Carmel Independent Baptist Church, 150 Flat Shoals Road, Salem, SC 29676.

BOB BATES

 

LIBERTY — Robert F. “Bobby” Bates, 79, loving husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Dewitt and Lila Mae Patterson Bates. He was a longtime member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Living Word Sunday School Class. Throughout his life, he was a former deacon and longtime Sunday school teacher. His joy was always teaching God’s word.

Bob retired from Duke Power and was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Alexander Bates of the home; two sons, Brett Bates (Barbara) of Norris and Trent Bates (Allison) of Six Mile; a brother, Rev. Billy Bates (Nancy) of Seneca; three sisters, Joan Swords (Steve) of Easley, Jane Wooten of Liberty and Martha Mauk of Six Mile; and four grandchildren, Justin Bates (Deborah), Travis Bates (Rebecca), Aaron Bates (Alexis) and Autumn Bates.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Bates.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Bates were conducted on Oct. 30 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

BENJAMIN JAY BRAZINSKI

PICKENS — Benjamin Jay Brazinski, 54, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at his home.

Mr. Brazinski was born in Tampa, Fla., on Oct. 24, 1968, the son of Daniel Brazinski and Kathleen Brazinski. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson. Benjamin was a graduate of Horry Georgetown Technical College, with a degree in horticulture. He enjoyed working outside, propagating day lilies, woodcarving, listening to music and cooking out (he was a grill master). He had a wit and sense of humor that was unending. Benjamin loved his entire family, especially his children. He never met a stranger and welcomed many people to the family dinner table.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brazinski is survived by his children, Liam Benson Brazinski, Jakob Benjamin Brazinski and Jayden Taylor Brazinski, all of Pickens, Johanna Phoung Brazinski of Tampa, Fla., Allison J. Brazinski of Seneca and Ashley M. Brazinski; two grandchildren; his brother and best friend, Daniel Luke Brazinski; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Benjamin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John Brazinski and Lorraine H. Brazinski; and his maternal grandparents, Joe Faltus and Karyle L. Faltus.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson, with a reception to follow..

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
