Roger R. Rollins
Central – Roger Ramsey Rollins, 63, of 425 Gaines Street and husband for 46 years of Liz M. Rodgers Rollins died Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Ramsey Smith and Lola Boggs Rollins. Roger was a crew foreman with Systems Specialties Inc and attended Six Mile Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Rodney Ramsey Rollins (Amy) of Six Mile; daughters, Angie E. Richards (Donnie) of Pendleton, Annette C. Holder (Michael) of Six Mile, and Jill M. Mack of Anderson; brother, Bob Rollins of Pendleton; sister, Reba Simpson of Central; grandchildren, Jessica Thach, Paul Richards, Christopher Holder, Hannah Holder, Nicole and Christina Rollins, Joshua Rollins, Damian and Domenic Turley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jay Rollins.
Funeral services were 1 p.m., Thursday at Six Mile Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Longenecker officiating.

Mike Brooks
Liberty – John Michael “Mike” Brooks, 59, husband of Brenda S. Dodgens Brooks, died Monday, May 20, 2013.
Mike was born in Pickens County, son Sophia Stewart Brooks and the late J. C. Brooks. He was a carpenter and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife Brenda, of the home, and his mother of Easley.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded by his sister, Renee Stewart.
Funeral services were conducted 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 24 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Mary Louise LeRoy
Liberty – Mary Louise Allison LeRoy, 81, of 312 Dream Lane, formerly of Seneca, died Tuesday at Majesty Health and Rehab in Easley.
Born in Clemson, she was the widow of the late Claude E. LeRoy, Sr. and a daughter of the late Samuel Clifton and Irene Burkett Allison. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Seneca.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlene Todd (Wayne) of Starr and Linda Sumter of Anderson; two sons, Sammy LeRoy of Starr and Eddie LeRoy (Becky) of Liberty; a sister, Sarah Hood of Seneca; a daughter in law, Jane LeRoy of Easley; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda LeRoy; a son, Michael E. LeRoy; and a sister, Thelma White.
Funeral services for Mrs. LeRoy were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Seneca.

Bob Brown
Easley – James Robert “Bob” Brown, 70, husband of Lorraine D. Brown died Monday May 20, 2013.
Bob was born in Spartanburg County to the late James A. and Wilma J. Brown on June 12, 1942. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1960 and attended Furman University. Bob was the owner and operator of Southern Refrigeration Inc. for many years. He was a devoted family man and worked hard for his family. All of the grandchildren called him “Happi”, and it was an accurate description of him. After his retirement, he enjoyed working in the yard and gardening with his grandchildren. Bob was a past deacon, leader of the RA group and Sunday School teacher at Cross Roads Baptist Church. His legacy as a humble Christian man lives on in his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Lorraine; children, Melissa (Brett) Kahley, Jandi (Randy) Withrow, Robert (Audrey) Brown and Ami (Gene) Hinkle; grandchildren, Joshua Kahley, Grant Kahley, Savannah Kahley, Claire Withrow, Amalee Brown, Ellison Brown, Corbin Hinkle and Collin Hinkle; sister, Linda (Danny) Ard; brother Ken Brown. Also surviving is a special aunt and uncle, Martha and Paul Guy.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 24 at Cross Roads Baptist Church 160 Cross Roads Church Road Easley SC at 1 p.m. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Lee Griffin
Liberty – Robert Lee Griffin, 41, of Liberty, died Monday, May 20, 2013.
Lee was born in Easley, son of Gerald and Ann Holcombe Griffin. He was a heavy equipment operator and of the Baptist Faith. Lee was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish.
Survivors include his parents, of the home, son, Josh Griffin of Liberty, daughter, Breanna Griffin of Easley and his sister, Tina Ellenburg of Liberty. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Lillian Valerie Griffin.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens in the chapel. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Verner Wayne Galloway
Pickens – Verner Wayne “June Bug” Galloway, 66, husband of Mary Nix Galloway died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Oconee County, a son of the late Verner and Marie White Galloway, Mr. Galloway was the owner-operator of Galloway Painting and of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife, of the home, are two sons, Verner Galloway, Jr. (Tammy), and Chris Galloway; two daughters, Sandy and Traci Galloway (Ricky); five brothers, Jackie, John, Billy, Wesley, and Kenneth Galloway; six beloved grandchildren, Greg (Brooke), Brady, Dylan, Kristina, Brandon, and Breanna Galloway; one step-grandchild, Taylor Hudson; and one great-grandchild, Dixie Galloway.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Galloway was predeceased by a brother, Larry Galloway.

Inez Collins Tucker
Easley – Mrs. Inez Collins Tucker, 95, wife of the late James William Tucker, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Foothills Presyterian Home, Easley.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Dean and Etta Cox Collins, Mrs. Tucker was a graduate of Parker High School and retired from the School District of Pickens County. She was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church, since 1956, where she served as a past Superintendant of Sunday School as well as a Sunday School Teacher.
Surviving are one son, James William Tucker, Jr. of Clinton, Conn.; two daughters, Janice Kay Tucker of Atlanta, Ga., and Robin Tucker Walters (James F.) of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tucker was predeceased by six brothers and five sisters.
Private graveside services were held Friday, May 24 in Graceland Cemetery, West with the Rev. Christie Gravely officiating.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at Foothills Presbyterian Home.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Bert F. “Zab” Patterson, Jr.
Easley – Bert Fields “Zab” Patterson, Jr., 56, of Easley died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home.
Born in Transylvania County, N.C., Mr. Patterson was a son of the late Bert Fields Patterson, Sr. and the late Bertha Louise Powell Patterson. He retired as a truck driver from BATCO, and he belonged to Open Door Baptist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Jimmy (Lisa) Patterson and Earl (Lorena) Patterson, all of Pickens; and three sisters, Helen (Jerry) Banks of Pickens, Linda Black (Lamar) of Liberty, Mickey Cison of Brevard and Mollie Patterson of Pickens.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ruth R. Sitton
Easley – Ruth Ragsdale Sitton, 91, of Easley died May 25, 2013 after a brief illness.
A newswoman and a high school teacher of many years, Mrs. Sitton was born in Easley on July 22, 1921, a daughter of the late W. H. and Sallie Ragsdale. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, the late John D. Sitton. A graduate of Easley High School at age 15, where she was named class valedictorian, Mrs. Sitton attended Coker College for two years before transferring to the University of Georgia, where she earned degrees in journalism and education in 1941. Selected by the university’s faculty as an outstanding journalism student, she was asked to write articles for the Athens, Ga., daily newspaper while still a student. In the 1950s, Mrs. Sitton worked as a correspondent for the Greenville News-Piedmont and for the Easley Progress as an editorial assistant and as news editor. Later she taught journalism, history and English at Easley and Dacusville High Schools. Active in civic affairs, Mrs. Sitton was secretary of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Fort Prince George chapter, and an officer and longtime member of the Easley Woman’s Club, and the Nosegay Garden Club, among other organizations. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Easley where she taught Sunday school for many years, Mrs. Sitton also served as president of the Methodist Guild for Women. A devout Christian, Mrs. Sitton showed sincere interest in and compassion for everyone she met.
She is survived by her five children: Dottie Sitton Ashley (Dr. Franklin Ashley) of Charleston, Betty Sitton of the home, James Sitton of Clemson, Dale Sitton Rogers (the Rev. Richard Rogers) of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and John Sitton, Jr., of Easley. Mrs. Sitton also is survived by a brother, W. Jack Ragsdale of Easley, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Marian R. Lanning, and brother, Walter Ragsdale.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Monday, May 27th, at First United Methodist Church.

William B. Stockwell
Easley – William Burtt Stockwell, 69, of Easley, husband of the late Elizabeth Wasel Stockwell, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 in his home.
Born in Westminster, Mass., a son of the late Raymond and Ellen Cummings Stockwell, Mr. Stockwell retired as a tool maker with Detroit-Broach and was a member of Warehouse Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Christine Beard of Liberty and Nanci Stockwell of Los Angeles, Calif.; granddaughter, Cassandra Beard; a brother, Raymond Stockwell of Boston; sister-in-law, Carmen Velazquez; niece, Waverly Stockwell-Kidd; and nephew, Nathan Stockwell-Velazquez.
Memorial services were 6 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

William Whelan Sr.
Easley – William Robert Whelan Sr., 82, of Easley, husband of the late Lavonia Myree Jones died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Richard Campbell Veterans Home.
Born in Englewood, N.J., Mr. Whelan was a son of the late Joesph Edward Whelan Sr. and Jeanette Kraus Whelan. He retired from G.B. Nalley Constrution and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Whelan was a member of the Bates Lodge 189, Hejaz Temple, past president of the Pickens County Shrine Club and a charter member of the Easley Moose Lodge 2219.
Surviving are two sons, William R. Whelan Jr. and Donald R. Whelan; a daughter, Bonnie Lee Whelan (Parris); and one grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Whelan was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Edward Whelan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Richard Campbell Veterans Home for their care for Bill.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 31 at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Elzaria Hanna Jarrett
Easley – Elzaria Hanna Jarrett, 75, of Easley, wife of the late Boyce Lee Jarrett with whom she had a beloved 51 year marriage, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1937 in Woodruff, she was a daughter of the late William “Downs” and Ruth Burgess Hanna. Mrs. Jarrett was a graduate of Cecil’s Business College in Spartanburg.
Her work history included secretary/receptionist to Dr. Gilliland and Dr. Guy Blakely in Woodruff; customer service manager and sales for Rhodes Furniture in Greenville and retired before her 70th birthday as secretary to the Pickens County Public Defender.
Throughout her life she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through her dedicated and faithful church work. As a young lady growing up in Mills Mill Baptist Church, she loved the youth and choral activities. When her husband transferred with his job to Anderson, she was a member of Eureka Baptist Church serving as WMU President, choir member and other various positions. Finally, after the transfer of her husband to Greenville, she joined Crosswell First Baptist Church.
Here she served in many areas over the years. Some of which included Sunday School teacher, WMU leader, choir member and director at one point. She was also established the monthly Crosswell Prayer Group which has grown over the years. Mrs. Jarrett loved her Lord and her family and served them faithfully all her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jarrett Cantrell (Jack) of Liberty; son, Gregory Shea Jarrett of Easley; grandchildren, Kela Cantrell Simpson (Chad), Adam Chase Cantrell (Amanda), and Hunter Shea Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Kadence Brae Simpson and Sylas Claire Cantrell.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 at Crosswell First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Woodruff.
Honorary escorts will be the Crosswell Prayer Group.
