Baptist Easley honors staff on Hospital Week

EASLEY — Baptist Easley CEO Michael L. Batchelor announced the Employee, Supervisor, Manager, and Director of the Year for 2012 during Hospital Week.

The 2012 Employee of the Year was Jessica Bell, R.N., Emergency Department. Her nomination read, “We had a 17-year-old patient who was basically abandoned in the ED. She arranged for the staff to buy her clothes, food, and an airplane ticket to go to her family in Florida. She spent over $200 of her own money to buy the patient clothes before other staff members began to contribute. She talked with the patient several times to help her with her self-confidence and decrease her anxiety. She is a very caring and loving nurse.”

Brittani Pelham, Food & Nutrition Services, was named Supervisor of the Year. Said her director, Valerie Meador, “Brittani always goes above and beyond for her coworkers, patients, and cafeteria customers. I have never seen Brittani without a smile and a kind word. No problem is left unaddressed on her shift. She can work every position in the kitchen and does them all with excellence and pride in her work. She is always ready to fill in for any co-worker in any position. She is a great coach for the employees in our department and is a role model for everyone with her quiet but strong leadership. She is truly exceptional.”

Annette Searcy, Health Information Manager, was named Manager of the Year. Said Cynthia Ellenburg, “As Annette’s director, I am blessed to have her by my side. Health Information Management is the best it has ever been with the many processes and changes accompanying the advent of the electronic medical record. She is most deserving of this recognition.” Searcy was recognized for her excellence and teamwork, as well as her compassion and integrity.

According to Batchelor, “All the directors are worthy of recognition for outstanding performance. However, Brian Finley, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services, specifically has excelled not only in taking on an extra department but in increasing that department’s revenue by more than 100%.” Batchelor stated that in the 60+ days he has been at Baptist Easley, he has found Finley willing and eager to take on any assignment and to provide exceptional service in all that he does.
