GREENVILLE — Mable Owens Clarke has received the state’s highest civilian honor in recognition of her decades of service to her church and her community.

Clarke received the Order of the Palmetto on Thursday afternoon at the Younts Center on the campus of Furman University.

Rep. Chandra Dillard served as the ceremony’s emcee.
