Avenell Hunter Welborn
Easley — Avenell Hunter Welborn, 84, of Easley, wife of the late Joe B. Welborn, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Rev. Fred B. and Mattie Powell Hunter, Mrs. Welborn graduated from Easley High School in 1946 and also graduated from Draughans Business School. She retired from the Payroll Department of Alice Manufacturing Company after 32 years of service and attended St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Lucille Searcy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Welborn was a volunteer with Baptist Easley Hospital for seven years.
Surviving are a son, Arden Welborn (Theresa Hanebrink); granddaughter, Jessica Laura Welborn; sister, Frances Turner; brother, Garvin Hunter (Carol); four nieces and nephews, four great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, and parents, Mrs. Welborn was predeceased by sisters, Bernice Holder and Jacqueline Henderson and a brother, Roy Hunter.
Cryptside services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Kenneth Van Jennings
Easley — Kenneth Van Jennings, 78, of Mt. Forrest Circle, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, the son of the late Albert Wayne and Ethel Elizabeth Canfield Jennings, Mr. Jennings retired from the Recycling Dept. of Pickens County and attended Jones Avenue Baptist Church where he belonged to the Auditorium Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Rebecca Caldwell Jennings of the home; a son, Greg Jennings of Gettysburg, Pa.; two step-sons, Rodney Vinson of Pickens and Barney Kennum, Jr., of the home; a step-daughter, Margaret Dixon of Greenville; five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jennings was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Hagar Jennings. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Rovern Hutton
Pickens — Rovern Kindle Hutton, 78, widow of William Edward Hutton, Sr. died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at The Cottingham House in Seneca, SC.
Born in Natural Tunnel, Va., she was a daughter of the late Tom Henry and Lovely Barker Kindle. She graduated from Johnston Memorial Nursing School in 1955 and had worked as an RN at various places before settling in as a homemaker and taking care of her family. She enjoyed being a seamstress and was a member of the Pickens Quilt Guild. She was also a very active member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. Their mother succumbed to cancer after a well fought battle in which she displayed God’s gracious kindness throughout her suffering.
Surviving are two daughters, Esther Aiken(Ed) and Sarah Heichel(Lary) all of Pickens; three sons, Ed Hutton, Jr.(Diane) of Seneca, Tom Hutton(Teresa) of Easley and Jim Hutton(Susan) of Pickens; a sister, Joan Pierson of Virginia; and 20 grandchildren.
Cryptside services to honor the life of Mrs. Hutton were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Filordea (Flora) Isabella Lelli
Port Orange, Fla. — Filordea (Flora) Isabella Lelli, 96, died at Harbor Oaks Elder Care Home in Port Orange, Fla. with Hospice at her side.
Born in Bronx, N.Y. on Nov. 6, 1917 of Italian Immigrants. At age 6 the family returned to Italy and in the 50’s were back in the U.S. They were proud of their business Lelli Fashions of NYC until retirement to Florida in early 90’s.
Survivors one daughter, Marisa Miller, Member Grace United Methodist Church, Pickens. One brother Armando, Italy. Four grandchildren, Anthony, Michelle, Paul and Christopher. Four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Charlie, Matthew and Maura. Many nephews and nieces and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents Michele and Splendora Di Pasquale, her husband Antonio A. Lelli of 60 years and a daughter Paola Bertucelli, Sherman Oaks, Calif. Also, four sisters, Maria, Sofia, Filomena, Anna and four brothers Pasquale, Vincenzo, Sandrino and Alfredo.

Glen C. Alexander
Pickens — Glen Clyde Alexander, 83, husband of Ella Mae Chastain Alexander, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Glen was born in Pickens County a son of the late Louie and Martha Barker Alexander. He was retired from Libco Mill in Liberty and was a charter member and former deacon of Lakeview Baptist Church in Pickens. Glen was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ella Mae, of the home, son, Tim Alexander (Donna) of Pickens, daughters, Marlene Couch of Liberty and Debbie Childs of Pickens, grandchildren include Summer Anders, Brittany Kelley, Lindsey Whitmire, Brandi Broom, Tyler Childs, and Matthew Couch and eight great grandchildren. Surviving also is a sister, Jo Ann Wood of Easley.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary “Moose” Couch, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Belcher officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with the Rev. Roger Morgan officiating.

Alma Breazeale
Easley — Alma Finley Breazeale, 90, wife of the late Charles Breazeale, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at Majesty Health & Rehab of Easley.
Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Burdine and Viola Lesley Finley, Mrs. Breazeale retired from textiles and was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Davis and husband Greg of Easley; a special grandchild, Amber Davis.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Breazeale was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Majesty Health & Rehab of Easley, for the care for Mrs. Breazeale and special thanks to three nieces, Ann Granger, Rita Seaborn and Janice Sheriff.

Christos Mayulianos
Easley — Mr. Christos Mayulianos died, at the age of 90, on Aug. 27, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Christos was born in Queens, N.Y., on Oct. 31, 1922, to the late Nicholas and Janet McLellan Mayulianos, who immigrated to the United States from Greece and Scotland respectively. He lived in Woodhaven, Staten Island, Queens, and on Long Island, N.Y., until 2005. A World War II Army veteran, Christos volunteered to serve his country in Oct. of 1942, and was assigned to the 97th Signal Battalion/Intelligence as an Intercept Operator. He served, honorably, until Oct. of 1945, participating in the advanced intelligence operation for the invasion of Normandy, France; as well as serving in Germany, England, and briefly in N. Africa and Italy. In Normandy, he was responsible for intercepting German military radio communications, copying and transmitting those messages for translation, decoding, and their eventual use in battle field operation command decisions. After returning from WWII, he furthered his education in the field of engineering, working for Telemet Company, N.Y. In this capacity, Christos was instrumental in managerial oversight and coordination with numerous engineering contracts supporting the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas and Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In 1966, he was designated Project Manager, overseeing 25 departments, responsible for the materials design, manufacture and installation of wideband transmission systems for the Kennedy Space Center spacecrafts. Upon his departure from the engineering career field, he founded his own real estate company, Liberty Bell Realty, in East Setauket, N.Y.; successfully operating as a broker for many years, and then a property manager.
Christos and his wife, Georgette, relocated in retirement years to Easley in 2005.
Christos is survived by his wife, Georgette Semaan Mayulianos; his four daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Dr. John DeCicco of Seneca Falls, N.Y., Judy Mayulianos of Spokane, Wash., Janet Mayulianos of San Antonio, Texas, and Caryl Sheridan of Long Island, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer DeCicco, Jamie Pierson, Lindsey and Alex Brandon, and Bobbi Sheridan; as well as a great-grandson, Hayden Brandon Markovic. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gus Petruzzella; many, many loving nieces and nephews across the United States, in Scotland and Greece, and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his loving brothers, George and Joseph; and his loving sisters, Efthea, Isabella, Olga and Mary.
Funeral services were 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Committal services were 11:30 a.m. Friday in the MJ Dolly Cooper Veteran Cemetery.

Jane W. Garrison
Easley — Clara Jane Whitaker Garrison, 87, formerly of Cobblestone Trace, wife of the late David M. Garrison, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at Magnolia’s of Easley.
Born in Cedartown, Ga., a daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Matilda West Whitaker, Mrs. Garrison formerly worked with her husband at their drug Store in Seneca (Lunney’s Drug Store) and was a former member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca. She was currently a member of Easley First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. David “Chris” Garrison (Charlotte) of Easley and Michael Marius Garrison (Carla); four grandchildren, David C. Garrison, Jr., (Candie), Caroline Whitaker Garrison, William Marius Garrison and Michael Joseph Elijah Garrison; and a great-grandson, David Luke Garrison.
Memorial graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca.

Dylan Trotter
Liberty — Dylan Scott, Trotter, 17, of Liberty, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.
Dylan was born in Easley, a son of Scott and Tina Finley Trotter. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Easley and served the Liberty Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. Dylan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He loved four wheeling and he never met a stranger; he would talk to anyone. He also loved his cattle dog Sandy.
Survivors include his parents, of the home, his sister, Jessica Trotter and her boyfriend Dillon Toby, of the home and his brother Derrick Trotter and his wife Blair of Easley and his best friend, like a brother, Chad Neison. His grandparents include, Donnie and Charlotte Trotter of Marietta, Doris and John Lee of Liberty and Gordon (Red) and Barbara Finley of Easley. Dylan is also survived by a number of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

Mildred S. Gantt
Easley — Mildred Sheriff Crawford Gantt, 86, formerly of Pickens and Easley, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 in Marietta, Ga.
Born in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Marie Blackston Sheriff, Mrs. Gantt retired as bookkeeper with Alice Manufacturing Company and later retired as bookkeeper with Robinson Funeral Home. She was a member of Secona Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James H. Crawford, Jr. (Carrie) of Marietta, Ga., and Douglas N. Crawford of Williamston; a step-son, Harvey L. Gantt (Crystal) of Matthews, N.C.; two step-daughters, Donna Albertson (Vernell) and Gail McCall, all of Easley; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gantt was predeceased by her first husband, James H. Crawford, Sr., and by her second husband, Almond Grover “Junior” Gantt, and by a brother, R. Fred Sheriff.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Merle Hayes
Easley — Merle Oberon Wilkison Hayes, 67, wife of Ronald Lee “Ron” Hayes of Easley, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Indiantown, Fla. a daughter of the late Robert and Lela Shiver Wilkison. She was retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills in Easley and attended Easley Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Ron of the home, a daughter, Andrea Starr Gillespie (Richard) of Liberty, three grandchildren, Erin Grimes, Michael Gillespie, and Holly Gillespie, sisters, Irma Jean Brown and Joan Delma Koontz of Jupiter, Fla. and a brother, Julian Levi “Bud” Wilkison also of Jupiter.
Funeral services were 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery in Liberty.

Janice Holcombe
Liberty — Janice Elizabeth Alexander Holcombe, 62, of Annie Street, died Monday at her residence.
Born in Liberty, she was the widow of the late Timothy Mark Holcombe and a daughter of Clarence Alexander of Liberty and the late Ruth Revis Alexander. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her father are a daughter, Stephanie Pratt and her husband David of Easley; two brothers, Charles Alexander of Easley and Glen Alexander of Liberty; and a grandson, Braden Tyler Pratt of Easley.
In addition to her husband and mother she was predeceased by a daughter, Stacy Nicole Harris; and a brother, Carl Alexander.
Funeral services for Mrs. Holcombe were held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
