Lions take region lead with OT win over TR

CENTRAL — Having watched their 11-point halftime lead slip away, the Daniel girls’ basketball team was on the verge of collapse when Travelers Rest’s Ellie Crain hit a three-pointer to put the Devildogs ahead 50-48 with under a minute to go on Jan. 14.
Needing to respond to stay atop Region 2-4A, the Lions turned to freshman Campbell Epting only for her to be fouled on a three-point shot with a chance to give Daniel the lead. Missing the first, Epting knew she had to come through on the next two attempts to tie the game.
