Kimberly Rowland, Jessica Ray, and Tayler Stiwinter are trying raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

PICKENS — Kimberly Rowland, Jessica Ray, and Tayler Stiwinter are current students at the Pickens County Career and Technology Center.

All three students are in the Health Science program and are members of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and will compete in Community Awareness at the state competition held in Charleston in March 2014.

For their project on Community Awareness, they are going to raise money forthe Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body. The predicted age for survival for a person with Cystic Fibrosis is the late 30’s.

Their team is forming fundraisers to help the Cystic Fibrosis foundation find a cure for this so children and young adults can live their full life without the thought of “Am I going to wake up in the morning?” Help us by coming to our Cystic Fibrosis yard sale on September 28 at Legacy Square in Pickens (beside McDonalds) and by showing up for our Cystic Fibrosis Fishing Tournament on October 12 for the launch at 8 a.m. at Saluda Lake (the landing near Easley Combine Utilities).

Their HOSA organization is also hosting a 5k run and walk on November 16th in downtown Liberty. Their team will have a section on the grass for your children to have fun and play games.

They will be selling water to help raise money for the foundation at this event. So please come and help them reach their goal of $1000 to give to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation so they can find a cure for this harsh disease.
