Palmer Fuller

Liberty — Palmer Young Fuller, 88, of 537 Golden Creek Road died peacefully Sunday evening at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Woodruff, he was a son of the late Luther Young and Mattie Brissey Fuller. He was retired from Dan River Mills He enjoyed dancing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a Mason and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Norma Fuller of Easley, Mattie Center (Charles) of Liberty and Pam Aiken (Dale) of Pickens; a son, Michael Fuller (Melissa) of Liberty; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, the late Maxie Sanders Fuller; a son, Houston Fuller; a sister Mildred Childress; and three brothers, William, Pete and Elzie Fuller.

Funeral services for Mr. Fuller were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Graceland West Cemetery.

Lucille Pruitt

Liberty — Lucille Murdock Pruitt, widow of Lewis Henry Pruitt, died peacefully, on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 in Stockton, Calif. Born in Anderson she was a daughter of the late Pruitt and Alberta Whitaker Murdock. She was a homemaker and a member of Homestead First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Terry Leroy Pruitt of Turlock, Calif.; a sister, Lillian Pruitt of Anderson; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Warren Pruitt, and two brothers, Patrick and Randolph Murdock.

Private funeral services for Mrs. Pruitt were held at 11a.m. Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Entombment followed at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 1825 K Street NW, Suite 600, Washington DC 20006.

Imogene B. (Gen) Sentell

Easley — Imogene Brown (Gen) Sentell, 91, formerly of Anderson Highway and wife of the late William “Bill” Sentell, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at Countryside Park in Easley.

Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Minnie Morgan Brown. Mrs. Sentell was a graduate of Pickens High School. She was retired from Utica Mohawk (J.P. Stevens) in Clemson and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Larry Sentell (Yuvonne) of Cisco, Texas, Connie McDaniel (Lowell) of Easley, and Kathy McKinney (Frank) of Auburn, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three brothers, Greyson Brown, Merrell Brown and Lewis Brown.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Inola Rogers and Bernice Reeves.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Blake T. Roberts

Pickens — Blake T. Roberts, 73, of 1014 Farrs Bridge Road, husband of the late Patricia Joan Duffy Roberts, died Wednesday, Oct, 16, 2013 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, the son of the late Rufus Blakely and Lois Virginia McAlister Roberts, Mr. Roberts retired as the owner of Holliday Fire Works and Patricia’s Trading Post in Greenville which later moved to Wakulla, Fla. He was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are a son, Blakely E. Roberts and wife, Jing, of Greenville; a daughter, Francine Bryson and husband, Mark, of Pickens; and three grandchildren, Sarablake Roberts, Jody Bryson and Gracey Roberts.

Memorial services were 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

 Billy Homer Elrod

 Pickens — Mr. Billy Homer Elrod, 79, husband of Nancy Hendrix Elrod, of 200 Sid Edens Road, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at his home.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Homer and Wilma Elrod, Mr. Elrod served in the US Army as corporal from 1953-1956, having been stationed in Austria and Germany. He retired from the Marietta Plant of Milliken Corporation as a production manager, where he worked from 1952-1995. Billy was a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church since 1971, where he served as deacon and media specialist.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are two daughters, Sabrina E. Hendricks (Jay), and Melinda Kay Elrod; a son, Billy Darrell Elrod (Kerri Miller Elrod);two sisters, Audrey Stephens and Mozelle Banks; one brother, Jerry Elrod; and four grandchildren, Regan and Frankie Hendicks, and Kacie and Kenzie Elrod.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Elrod was predeceased by a brother, Joel Elrod.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at Oolenoy Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Martha Ruth Lance

Easley — Martha Ruth Hughes Lance, age 78, died on, Friday Oct. 18, 2013.

Ms. Lance was a daughter of the late Emma Dodson Hughes and Samuel Hughes.

Ms. Lance was a member of Bethany Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters; Gwen Lusk of Easley, Tammy Brazinski (Daniel) of Pickens, two sons; Jimmy Lance (Carol) of Pickens, Joey Lance (Vonda) of Pickens, two brothers; Carl Hughes of Liberty, Colie Hughes (Melvalee) of Pickens, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ms. Lance was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral Service was Monday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Betty Owen Wood

Pickens — Betty Owen Wood, 86, died Friday Oct. 18, 2013 at Manna Health and Rehab.

A lifetime resident of Pickens County, she was the wife of the late Clayton Wood and daughter of the late Pearl McKinna Owen and J. Dillard Owen. She was a member of Secona Baptist Church.

Survivors include, two daughters; Nancy W. Bouler (Curt) of Turtletown, Tenn., Patsy W. Smith (Hub) of Sunset, three sons; Clayton Alfred Wood, Jr., (Suzanne) of Sunset, Richard Charles Wood of Saluda, Jerry Thomas Wood of Pickens, eight grandchildren; Clayton “Clay” Alfred Wood, III, (Beth) of Pendleton, Jason Riddle (Angela) of Easley, Josh Wood (Wendy) of Liberty, Katie R. Crock (Jason) of Newnan, Ga., Chad Smith (Hannah) of Clover, Sandee S. Blankenship (Tommy) of Sunset, J.T. Wood of Pickens and Thomas Wood of Pickens; 16 great children; Richard and Justin Riddle, Tori, Taylor and Tyler Wood, Jacob and Caleb Wood and Hunter ,Ashton, Shepherd and Bennett Smith, Charlee and Sami Blankenship, Camdyn Crock and Bri Riddle, one great-great- grandchild; Aaliyah Riddle-Pike.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents and three brothers; Gordon, John and Walter Owen.

Graveside service was held 11 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Grandchildren served as pallbearers. Honorary escorts were great-grandchildren and Sonshine Ladies Sunday School.

Ressie D. Riggins

Pickens — Ressie Lee Dodson Riggins, 92, of 241 Riggins Road, wife of the late George Riggins, died Friday Oct. 18, 2013.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Deed and Bessie Stewart Dodson. Mrs. Riggins was a faithful and loving mother. She worked for Laurel Hill Living Center for several years and was a lifelong member of Prater’s Creek Baptist Church and the Nannie Entrekin Sunday School Class.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Cannon Hospital and Hospice of the Upstate for their compassion and exceptional care of Mrs. Riggins.

Surviving are her children, Lucille McCollum (Doug), Avanell Hendricks (Jimmy), Catherine Patterson (Bobby), and Sarah Trotter (Pete) all of Pickens; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Christine Gillespie, Corene McCollum and Inez Stewart all of Pickens.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four children, Charles Riggins, Elizabeth Young, and two infant sons; a granddaughter, Lisa Cooper; a great grandson, Luke Patterson; and her siblings, Selma Owens, Dennis, Frank, Albert, Gene and Ralph Dodson.

Funeral services were on Tuesday Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

The grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary escorts was the great grandchildren and Leon Crenshaw, Bunt Morgan, Sam Brezeale and Barry Stegall.

Barbara Anne Rogers

Liberty — Mrs. Barbara A. Rogers, age 82, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.

She was born in Easley on Feb. 16, 1931 to the late William “Guy” & Jennie (Griffin) Hood and married James Kenneth Rogers on Aug. 26, 1950. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Liberty and enjoyed being with her friends in the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Mrs. Rogers had been a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed greatly.  

Surviving are two sons, Tony Rogers of Houghton, Mich., Darren Rogers and his wife, Kimberly of Muskegon, Mich.; grandchildren, Griffin Rogers, Crawford Rogers; a brother, Charles Hood and his wife, Barbara of Edisto Island.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rick Lee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private entombment will be held at Liberty Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William M. Groman

 Clemson — William Milton Groman, 95, of Clemson and devoted husband of Estelle Groman, died peacefully in his apartment at Clemson Downs of Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013.

He was born in Hartford, Conn. and raised in Plymouth, Ind. with three siblings, Fred, Ernest and Evelyn. Mr. Groman served the Army Air Corps in WWII, stationed in New Guinea and the Phillipines, maintaining written correspondence with his fiance, Estelle of Savannah, Ga. They were married May 30, 1946 and moved to Gary, Ind. where he was employed by US Steel. He earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from Valparaiso University in 1949. He began his sales career with IBM, retiring in 1973 and relocating from Chicago, Ill. to Six Mile. He was an active member of the local community becoming a realtor, a municipal judge, a candidate of the Pickens County School Board, and a jack-of-all-trades at Woodhaven Golf Course. He was a member of the Clemson Investment Club and was a tutor volunteer at the Clemson Elementary School. He was involved with many church related programs including the Charles Colson Prison Ministries and the Billy Graham Ministries, as well as serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Administrator at his church in Chicago, Ill. He was a member of University Baptist Church in Clemson.

He is survived by daughter Patricia Groman of Cumming, Ga. and son James Groman of Greenville and a grandson, John Heslin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A private committal service will be held at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC.

Patricia Edenfield

Easley — Mrs. Patricia Craddock Edenfield, 60, wife of C B Edenfield, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at her home.

Born in Trenton, N.J., the a daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Delores Theresa Skwara Craddock, Mrs. Edenfield was a verification specialist with Mortician’s Choice and was a self-made entrepreneur having made her own cosmetics, which turned into a successful business. Patricia had a great and passionate love for her family and her Christian faith.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of the home, are a son, Crescenzio Anthony Damiano, III. of Trenton, N.J.; one brother; and four grandchildren, Dean, Alicia, Hailey, and Jasmine.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Pat Badstibner officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Edward F. Coté

Sarasota, FLa. — Mr. Edward F. Coté Sr., born March 11, 1936 in New Haven, Connecticut, died in his South Carolina home on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013.

Edward previously resided in Sarasota, Fla., and was the founder of Ed Coté R.V. Storage and Repair. He was also a member of the Commander’s Club and was D.A.V. Commander of Chapter 97 in Sarasota. He had 10 brothers and six sisters.

Mr. Coté is survived by his sons Edward F. Coté Jr. of Sarasota, Fla. and John A. Coté of Phoenix, Ariz., daughters, Jerilyn J. Coté and Teri A. Trippe, both of Sunset, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Geraldine F. Coté, and his daughter, Lori Cohen.

 J.W. Holden

Cateechee — James William “J.W.” Holden, 80, of 308 N. Church Street died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at his residence.

Born in Liberty, he was the widower of the late Jessie Evelyn Finley Holden and a son of the late William and Aldi Hall Holden. He was a retired brick mason and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Tracy Lynn Brown(Brian) of Walhalla; three sons, Mike Holden(Sharon) of Liberty, Randy Holden(Jody) of Central and Mark Holden(Vickie) of West Union; two sisters, Dorothy Barrett of Florida and Lilly Gillespie of Central; a brother, David Holden of Liberty; eight grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Holden were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
