Jody Amspacher
Liberty — Joseph William “Jody” Amspacher, 74, of 323 W. Front Street, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Fort Sill, Okla. he was a son of the late Dr. William and Connie Peeper Amspacher. He retired from AT&T formerly NCR in Liberty.
Surviving are his wife, Josie Davis Amspacher of the home; a daughter, Riley Amspacher of Liberty; a sister, Connie Briley (James) of Pickens; a brother, Dr. William Amspacher (Nelda) of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; a sister in law, Harriett Ellenburg Gibson of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Jeanette Searcy
Pickens — Annie Jeanette Lewallen Searcy, 78, widow of Billy J. Searcy, Sr., died, Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.
Mrs. Searcy was born in High Point, N.C., a daughter of the late Maben A. and Gladys Hicks Lewallen. She was a homemaker and a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Survivors include children, Billy Searcy, Jr., Cindy Holcombe (Terry), Ricky Searcy (Karon), Barry Searcy, Tony Searcy and Michael Searcy (Shelley) all of Pickens and eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Ruby Morgan, Eula Stuart, and Glenda Moncus all of High Point, N.C.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at Dillard Funeral Home in the chapel.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Herbert H. Lusk
Liberty — Lt. Col. (Ret.) Herbert Hampton Lusk, 96, of Liberty, husband of the late Mayme Lusk, his wife of 62 years, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at R.M. Campbell Veterans Center.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Samuel H. and Thelma Lark Lusk, Col. Lusk retired from the US Air Force after 23 years of service and served in the Pacific during World War II.
Surviving are a son, Peter Scott Lusk and wife, Trang “Sam” of Liberty; a daughter, Janet Ellen Weiss of Hampton Bays, N.Y.; two brothers, Sam Glen Lusk (Margaret) and William T. Lusk (Nancy), all of Easley; two sisters, Freddie Jewsbury (Steve) of Easley and Winola Watt of Columbus, Ga.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Col. Lusk was predeceased by a son, Herbert Hampton Lusk, Jr., by his twin sister, Helen Cox, and by four other sisters, Mary Wanda Lusk, Hazel Miller, Frances Mercer and Joann Allen.
Graveside services, with military honors, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Georges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ray E. Jones
Easley — Ray Earl Jones, 90, of Easley, husband of the late Frances Nix Jones, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Greenville, a son of the late Walter H. Jones, Sr., and the late Azalia King Jones, Mr. Jones retired from the US Army where he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. After his years with the Army, he worked for Ryobi Company. Mr. Jones was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and also a member of Bates Masonic Lodge #189.
Surviving are three sons, David Jones, Jeffrey Jones and Frederick “Rick” Jones; two daughters, Michelle Bridges and Suzanne R. Jones; a sister, Jewel Gilstrap; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a special friend Annie Belle Evans.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jones was predeceased by two brothers, Walter H. Jones, Jr. and Kenneth P. Jones and one sister, Dora Doris Jones.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday Nov. 7 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Naomi H. Smith
Easley — Naomi Hayes Smith, 74, wife of Larry Eugene Smith, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Larry, her daughter, Sandra Smith Turner, son-in-law, Tony Lee Turner; two sisters, Lou O’Donald and Rheba Simmons; two granddaughters, Maranda Chitwood and Toni Turner Glenn; and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens.
The family will gather at the home of Larry’s brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Vicki Smith, 113 Skyland Drive, Easley immediately following the service.

Mark Pittman
Easley— Mr. Mark Edward Pittman, 30, husband of Traci Ergott Pittman, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Greenville, to Sandra Brooks Pittman and the late Edward Eugene Pittman, Mark was a graduate of Carolina High School, and worked in the construction business framing houses.
Mr. Pittman was a kind, gentle and fun loving man, who always put his family first. He was an incredible father who was always there for his children. Mark enjoyed playing golf in his free time, watching his favorite sports teams (the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Steelers and University of South Carolina Gamecocks) play and attending Rock Springs Baptist Church every Sunday with his family, who he loved more than anything else.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons, Troy Eugene and Daniel Edward Pittman; two daughters, Taylor Marie and Hannah Grace Pittman; a brother, Matthew Eugene Pittman (Ann), of Easley; and a sister, Sherry Pittman, of Easley; and three nieces, Brooke, Sarah and Lily Pittman.
Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

J. “Frank” Hitt
Easley — James Franklin “Frank” Hitt, 67, husband of Margaret Stewart Hitt, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late George Kannon and Irene Griffin Hitt, Mr. Hitt was employed with NAI Earl Furman Company as a maintenance technician for 30 years, and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two brothers, Johnny Hitt (Annette), and Jackie Hitt (Jill); five sisters, Josephine Jameson, Linda Looper (the Rev. Jim Ed), Barbara Williams (Dan), Alma Jeffcoat, and Gladys Dunlap (James); a sister-in-law, Claudette Hitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitt was predeceased by two brothers, Allen and George Hitt; two brothers-in-law, Jim Jeffcoat and Junior Jameson; and two nieces, Jessica Hitt and Pam Spellen.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
