Community members ride in the Easley Christmas parade on Saturday. Other towns will usher in the holidays with parades this week.

COUNTY — Central, Easley and Six Mile kicked off the yuletide season with their Christmas parades on Saturday, and other municipalities will follow suit this week.

The city of Pickens’ annual Christmas Parade, themed “Christmas Lights,” is set for this Friday at 7 p.m. For more information, call Pickens City Hall at (864) 878-6421.

Letters to Santa will be collected at the parade by Pickens Post Office employees. Children are asked to bring their letters addressed to Santa and hold them up as postal employees walk in the parade, and employees will collect them and get them to the North Pole. Letters need to have a return address, and children should not approach the postal truck.

Those waiting for the parade to start are invited to visit Antiques and Uniques at 305 Main Street, where owner Michael Gould, a local photographer and author, will be taking Christmas photos in front of a winter hearth with stockings. He will also have his book available for purchase. In addition, local author and artist Judy Cook will be painting faces and signing her children’s book, “Steven Anthony and the Black Mountain Adventure.” The store will also have hot cocoa available.

Liberty, which had been scheduled to hold its parade last weekend, has rescheduled the event for this Sunday at 3 p.m. For more information, call Liberty City Hall at (864) 843-3177.

Dacusville will hold its Christmas Parade on Saturday, with a salute to military veterans, with an emphasis on World War II veterans. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. For more information, call Randy Williams at (864) 270-1599.
