PICKENS — Sweet Potato Pie Kids, a bluegrass and old-time music band made up of top students from the Young Appalachian Musicians program, will perform during a special pancake breakfast at the GateHouse Restaurant in Pickens on Saturday, April 12.

The event, scheduled for 8 to 10:30 a.m., is a fundraiser for the YAM program. For $7 per person, the breakfast includes GateHouse pancakes, bacon or sausage, eggs, grits and a drink — plus entertainment by some of the Upstate’s most talented young musicians.

The YAM program is sponsored by Preserving Our Southern Appalachian Music (POSAM), a nonprofit organization that promotes the traditional music and culture of the region.
