CLEMSON — Two men in custody in Anderson County will face charges in Clemson after police said they robbed a convenience store at gunpoint and used a stolen car as a getaway vehicle.
According to a release from Clemson Police chief Jimmy Dixon, two men entered the Sunoco store on U.S. Highway 76 at around 8 a.m. on Saturday pulling masks over their faces.
Once the clerk saw the men, he locked himself in the store office, where one of the men held a pistol pointed at the door while the other went to the register and took an undetermined amount of cash.
The men left in what was later determined to be a vehicle stolen from Anderson County, according to Dixon, and committed another robbery in the Pendleton area. They were later found near the Tri-County Technical College area, where they tried to hide the stolen vehicle, Dixon said.
Clemson officers worked with Anderson County sheriff’s deputies to investigate hte case.
Arrested in the case were Ceaser Lamont Hunter, 41, and Ron Jermain Curry, 32, both of Anderson.
The two men are being held at the Anderson County Detention Center and will be charged with armed robbery by Clemson police once they are released into the custody of Clemson officers.
