PENDLETON — Tri-County Technical College’s upcoming Career Fair is a chance for the College to showcase its students, soon-to-be-graduates and alumni to area employers.

The Career Fair, sponsored by the College’s Career Services Office and Student Support Services, is set for Wednesday, April 6, from 9 a.m.-noon in the Student Center Café on the Pendleton Campus.

“This is an opportunity for our students and alumni to connect with employers,” said Career Services Counselor Alison Reynolds. “Attendees can learn about job opportunities in our community. The event is not just for graduates — it’s for those students just getting started, also. Students can meet the employers and get business cards. Most important, they can make a good impression and do important networking.”

The event is a prime opportunity for soon-to-be graduates and alumni who are looking for employment to talk about job opportunities with recruiters and managers and to develop a network of career contacts.
Employers who will be present at the event include: AFCO, American General Life and Accident Insurance Company, AmeriCorps – United Way of Pickens County. AnMed Health, Avon, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Inc., BorgWarner, Card Payment Solutions, Charter Communications, Early Autism Project, Inc., Fastenal Company, First Quality Enterprises, GEM Southeast, Generations Group Homes, Inc., Human Technologies, Human Technologies for Bosch, Interim HealthCare of Greenville, Inc., Itron, K&K Technical Group, Mount Vernon Mills – LaFrance Industries, Oconee Medical Center, Orian Rugs, Pickens County YMCA, Sandvik, State Farm Insurance Company, United States Marine Corps, United Tool and Mold, Inc., U. S. Engine Valve, Verizon Wireless and WLOS-WMYA-TV.

Reynolds urges students to plan ahead for the day. “Check out employee profiles, read about the companies and their hiring needs and visit their websites. Before you go to a career fair, you should know who will be there and whom you want to spend your time talking to,” she said.

“Some employers will be taking resumes, especially in critical needs areas like maintenance technicians and machinists. There also will be summer and part-time jobs for freshmen,” she said.

Reynolds stressed that attendees come in business dress and bring a resume. “Present yourself as if you are going to a job interview.”
