LIBERTY — An Easley woman was killed after her car struck a guard rail on U.S. Highway 123 Sunday morning.

According to Pickens County deputy coroner Gary Duncan, Jessica D. Hinkel, 34, of 408 Park West Circle, was driving north on Highway 123 near Five Forks Road when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road.

Duncan said Hinkel overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road, hitting a guard rail.

Duncan said Hinkel, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash from blunt force trauma.

The crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
