Courier Letters to the Editor
Thank for support for festival
Dear Editor,
A little more than a week ago, our school hosted a very successful Fall Festival. The PTA would like to take a moment to thank all who contributed to this event.
First and foremost, we thank Mrs. Terry, principal of A.R. Lewis Elementary, for her support of the festival. We also wish to thank the teachers, the staff and the parents who donated their time to set up the event, run games, snap pictures, sell balloons, serve food and clean up the event. We also wish to recognize the following sorority sisters from Clemson University who volunteered time to work our event: Megan Meadows of Kappa Delta and Mary Gamble and Lillian Tribble of Delta Delta Delta.
Our school received donations from various businesses. Thank you to BILO of Pickens, BILO of Seneca, FlowersFood, L&L Feed and The Party Factory. To advertise our event, students in each grade competed in a poster contest. Winners were selected from each class, and those posters were displayed by area businesses and community centers the week leading up to the festival.
We thank BeeWell Honey, Corner Drug, East Main Treasures, Exclusive Hair Designs, GateHouse Restaurant, Heidi’s Hot Dogs, Mobil Store and More, Nestfeathers, Pickens County Library-Village Branch, Pizza Inn, Twelve Mile Grocery, and Village Inn Restaurant for displaying our winning posters.
We thank Avery Smith for providing his DJ services, Allen Shelton for providing the hay ride and Kathy Alexander for the face painting.
And finally, we thank our families and those from the community who attended the festival. Without your attendance, this event would not have been successful. Our small, mountain school took in more than $900 that evening, and what a wonderful time we all had, especially the children! Thank you!
