Liberty — Donald William George Nix, 78, of 135 Whitmire Hill Road, died Thursday at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Easley, he was the husband of Gladye Mae Whitmire Nix and a son of the late Andrew Claude and Ola Sanders Nix. He retired from Alice Mfg. after 40 years of service and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Corliss Thomas (Jeff) of Spartanburg; and Janice Nix of Liberty; two sons, Randell Nix (Susie) and Chris Nix, both of Liberty; seven grandchildren, Brian Thomas (Melody), Tracy Thomas, Shannon Tollison (Kevin), Stephanie McClain (Jamie), Taylor Kitchens, Katelyn Nix and Zachary Nix; and 2 great grandchildren, Sophia McClain and Bentlee Tollison.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Ellen Phillips and Edna Nix; and three brothers, Olin, Roy and Larry Nix.
Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Nix were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Roanoke Baptist Church. Private burial will be held in the church cemetery at a later date.

Jessie Dyar
Central — Jessie Lene Pinion Dyar, 79, of 1727 Maw Bridge Road, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Six Mile, she was a daughter of the late J.B. and Lou Veda Collins Pinion.
She was a longtime member of Welcome Baptist Church, where she was a former secretary and treasurer. During her working career, she worked at JP Stevens, Pratt-Reed, and later owned and operated The Variety Shop in Central. Prior to retirement she owned and operated East Clemson Florist for 15 years.
Mrs. Dyar loved flowers, traveling, but most important of all was her family.
Surviving are her husband, Dewitt Dyar of the home; a daughter and son in law, Amanda and Rev. Dr. Larry Gunter of Easley; a son and daughter in law, Tim and Crystal Dyar of Central; two sisters, Glenda Maxey of Norris, and Brenda Kelly (Roger) of Six Mile; a brother, W.E. Pinion (Elaine) of Clemson; a sister in law, Jeanette Pinion of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Blake and Brandon Dyar, and Caleb and Hannah Gunter.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by six sisters and a brother.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Dyar were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alvin Asberry Stiwinter
Easley — Alvin Asberry Stiwinter, 74, of Easley, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014.
He was born in Jackson Co. N.C., but had lived most of his life in Easley.
Alvin was the son of the late J.B. and Leila Buchanan Stiwinter. He was preceded in death by a brother Jonathan Stiwinter. Alvin was retired from Platt Saco Lowell-Textiles.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Jean Shelton Stiwinter, two sons Neil (Trisha) Stiwinter and Rusty (Tammy) Stiwinter both of Easley; a sister Shirley Rice of Pickens; two brothers J.R. Stiwinter of Cullowhee, N.C; and Lewis Stiwinter of Cashiers, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Jeff, Jesse, Tayler, Ashley and Morgan Stiwinter.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, at Pendleton Street Baptist Church in Easley, of which he was a member. The Rev. Johnny Norris officiated. Burial followed in Stewart Cemetery in Cullowhee, N.C.

Douglas M. Winkler
Liberty — Douglas Micheal Winkler, 66, husband of Dianne Elizabeth Dodson Winkler died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.
Mr. Winkler was born in Oconee County, a son of the late J. D. and Lucille Long Winkler. He was employed with Alice Manufacturing Co. and was a member of 5 Point Church. For over 20 years, Douglas was the voice of the Liberty Red Devils football team. He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Dianne, of the home, sons, Tim Winkler (Erica) and Phillip Winkler all of Liberty; and daughter, Jenni Richeson (Kyle) of Easley. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Hunter, and Jake Richeson, Caden and Josie Winkler and a foster grandchild. He is also survived by brothers, Ray Winkler of Westminster, Rodger Winkler of West Union, and a sister, Carey Hutto of Walhalla.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Winkler was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Winkler.
Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 5 Point Church in Easley. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens.

Claudia L. Reid
Cape Canaveral, Fla. — Claudia Lawrence Reid, 88, widow of Herman Franklin Reid, formerly of Easley, died at the home of her daughter in Florida.
Mrs. Reid was born in Central, a daughter of the late James and Janette Victoria Mulberry Lawrence. She holds the distinction of being the first recovery room secretary at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry R. Lesniak (Phillip) of the home, grandchildren, Stephanie L. Mesa and Joshua P. Lesniak and great granddaughters, Holly and Heather.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her brother, James Wesley Lawrence.
A graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens.

Dock Franklin Albertson
Liberty — Dock Franklin Albertson, 85, husband of the late Louise Gillespie
Albertson, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at his home.
Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Henry Franklin and Ruby Bishop Albertson, Mr. Albertson retired from American Services and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a son, William Albertson of Liberty; two daughters, Mary Woodall (Paul) of Six Mile; and Joyce Rampey (Jim) of Liberty; six brothers, Dan, Harold, Jerry, Truman, Jimmy, and Ozell Albertson; two sisters, Sue Whitman and Della Thompson; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Albertson was predeceased by six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial
Park.

CHAUNCY FENDER
MARSHALL, N.C. — Chauncy Fender, 96, of Marshall, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Madison Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
A native of Madison County, N.C., Mr. Fender was born February 14, 1918, in Madison County, where he lived all his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Brejetta Fender; wife, Lear Davis Fender; son, Larry Fender; brothers, Jock, Avery, Auvery “Mote”; sisters, May Riddle, Inus Lesley and Hazel Tipton.
Chauncy is survived by his; son and daughter-in-law, Jock and Linda Fender; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Harold Chastain and Genell and John Honeycutt; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends Ken Parker, Garland Rice, Hayes Carver and James Davis officiating. Interment followed in Holcombe Cemetery.
