‘Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow’ exhibit to show the impact of Civil Defense during Cold War
PICKENS — An opening reception was held over the weekend for “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,” the Pickens County Museum of Art and History’s newest exhibit.
The exhibit explores the impact of Civil Defense efforts during the Cold War.
The exhibit showcases a collection of artifacts that help tell the story of Civil Defense in both Pickens County and the United States as a whole. During the Cold War era, nuclear warfare was always a perceived threat. The creation of Civil Defense helped boost the morale of communities all across the nation during those uncertain times.
