AnMed Health Cancer Survivor’s and Fighter’s Day set for Sept. 20
UPSTATE — In recognition of National Cancer Survivors Day, the AnMed Health Cancer Center is reminding cancer fighters and survivors to save the date for a celebration on Sept. 20, conditions permitting due to COVID-19. Details will be announced closer to the date.
Many people’s lives have been touched by cancer. Nearly 17 million people in the United States and more than 32 million worldwide have or have had cancer.
This Sunday, June 7, cancer fighters and survivors will be acknowledged as part of the 33rd annual National Cancer Survivors Day. AnMed Health’s observance is held in September to better accommodate people’s summer schedules.
“We acknowledge this special day in June and encourage everyone to take this time to reflect on all that has been accomplished in our fight against cancer,” AnMed oncology services assistant vice president Samantha Carter said. “As we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19, we are hoping to have our celebration in September again as long as it is safe to do so.”
Fighters and survivors are considered as anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis. Learn more about the AnMed Health Cancer Center at AnMedHealth.org/Cancer.
