Boy Scout Troop 51 enjoys 78th birthday
PICKENS — November ushered in the 78th birthday of Pickens Boy Scout Troop 51, and the troop celebrated in typical fashion with a chili supper during a weekend campout.
Lodge pots filled with chili, cornbread and s’mores cooked under the campfire coals while the boys and their families laughed, played football and reminisced about their years in the troop. Since its inception, the troop has been a positive influence in the lives of hundreds of young men, including current Scout Master Perry Gravely, who himself became an Eagle Scout with Troop 51 in 1975.
