Spooky Halloween Fun 10-25-23

Pickens County is ready to celebrate the spooky season, with events planned around the area throughout the rest of the month.

 

EASLEY, OCT. 27

Easley will host the county’s next event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 27, at Old Market Square.

The event will give folks a chance to hang out with the community, trunk or treat, take pictures, listen to live music by The Flashbacks and meet the Sanderson Sisters of “Hocus Pocus” fame. Look for the Pickens County Courier booth to say hello to our staff at this event.

 

SIX MILE, OCT. 28

Mile Creek Baptist Church will hold its third annual trunk-or-treat from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. Mile Creek Baptist is located at 104 Lakeside Drive in Six Mile.

Go back in time to a special place where boys and girls of all ages can celebrate and best of all, enjoy their Halloween. All are invited to join the fun at 719 E. Central will host an event from 1-4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 21, with all things fall, trains and Central. The event will have trick-or-treating, entertainment, music, costume contests and more.

CLEMSON, OCT. 24
Next up will be Clemson’s “Trick or Treat on College Ave.” on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

LWV chapter to meet on Oct. 17 at Clemson UMC

CLEMSON — The League of Women Voters of Oconee and Pickens Counties will hold its monthly meeting from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 17.

The program is “The Supreme Court: What’s Ahead,” presented by Chip Stapleton, a retired government relations consultant and former chairman of the Clemson University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

The meeting will be held at Clemson United Methodist Church, 300 Frontage Road. The public is welcome.

 

6th annual Meals on Wheels glow run set for this weekend

LIBERTY — Pickens County Meals on Wheels will host its sixth annual glow run 5K this Saturday, Oct. 14.

The race will take place in front of the McKissick Center on S.C. Highway 93 and end at the rear of the PCMOW building on Edgemont Avenue. A glow attire contest will be planned at 7 p.m., with participants encouraged to be creative with their glow attire. The timed race will begin at 7:30 p.m., and walkers are welcome to follow in the rear of the lineup. First, second and third place will be awarded for males and females in three age categories. A post-race snack will be provided along with a “selfie-station” with UV lighting.

PCMOW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making sure that no senior is left isolated or hungry.

The organization’s budget relies on fundraising and donations to help continue to provide meals and a friendly safety check to the county’s homebound seniors.
