Pickens Chamber Member of the Month
The Greater Pickens Chamber of Commerce has announced Pickens Family Dentistry as its January Member of the Month. Grand opening planned
Magic & Smiles has relocated to Pickens and will carry magic supplies for amateurs, hobbyists and professional magicians. The store will also offer a line of novelties, jokes, gags and clown supplies. The owners of the magic and novelty supply store recently announced that they will hold a grand opening ceremony on Jan. 14, at 10 a.m., in partnership with the Greater Pickens Chamber of Commerce. There will be light sandwiches, snacks and free giveaways. Magic & Smiles will be located inside the Market at the Mill, in warehouse 3, booth 114. The magic shop will be the only store of its kind in a 100-mile radius. The wrong shade of orange?
Not on Clemson’s side of the mountains
CLEMSON — Most of the time, it’s no big deal being a Clemson Tiger in the heart of Volunteer country.
The University of Tennessee has its shade of orange, and we’ve got ours. They like the taste of deep-fried Gamecock almost as much as we do. In essence, it’s as if they are our SEC cousins on the other side of the Appalachians.
But we’re going to have to set all that aside on December 30 when the Tigers play the Vols in Miami in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

Christmas Calendar 2022
• Christmas carol concert scheduled
The Old Market Amphitheater in Easley will host a Christmas carol concert at 6 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 16, where various singing groups will come together, while children will have festive activities to participate in.
• Pickens firefighters planning parade
Although the city has already held its annual parade, as the Christmas holiday grows closer, the Pickens Fire Department plans on doing an “Around Town” Parade, along Main Street in Pickens, starting at 3 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 18.
PES unveils Hope Garden
PICKENS — Pickens Elementary recently unveiled the Memorial Hope Garden in remembrance of two students who passed away in recent years.
Funded with $50,000 from the Lowe’s Hometowns program the school received in July 2022, Pickens Elementary is now able to provide an outdoor learning environment for students and teachers alike.

‘Christmas at the Barn’ event set for Dec. 11
MARIETTA — On Sunday, Dec. 11, Happy Hooves Therapeutic Equestrian Center will be hosting its 19th annual “Christmas at the Barn” fundraising event at Eden Farms, located at 4700 Dacusville Highway in Marietta. The event will run from 2-5 pm.
