VIOLA ROACH NIX
EASLEY — Viola Roach Nix, 91, wife of the late Larry Broadus Nix, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Rufus Nix and the late Rachel Hamilton Nix, Mrs. Nix retired from Alice Manufacturing Company with more than 50 years of service and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Larry Michael Nix (Sybil) of Easley; her daughter, Sheila Mauldin (Mark) of Idaho; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Nix was predeceased by two brothers, Willie and James Roach; and a sister, Sue Reid.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, prior to

HEYWARD PRESTON ‘TREY’ SCOTT III
SENECA — “For the entrepreneur, it’s not a job. It’s a lifestyle. It defines them.” There are no truer words for Heyward Preston Scott III, who passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 5, 2021.
“Trey” was always looking for the next business to embark on and the next new adventure to begin. Trey’s latest adventure was as owner and operator of Keowee Funeral Services of Oconee County. His path to assisting others began years ago when he joined law enforcement, where he proudly served a multitude of agencies over many years. This drive continued, even after his police service, through operating the Seneca-based funeral home.
Trey’s legacy goes beyond his passion for his business, however. He was the epitome of a people person; his personality was a culmination of positive attributes. While helping other families celebrate the lives of loved ones who’ve passed on was his day-to-day job, his generosity didn’t stop there. He continuously strived to instill pure joy in everyone he met and never hesitated to give or share with those in his community. His love for life, selflessness

RICHARD HENRY REECE
PICKENS — Mr. Richard Henry Reece, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.
Mr. Reece was born in Pickens and was the son of the late Jesse Reece and Edna Dillard Riggins Reece. He was a loving husband to Nancy Brown Reece.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy; a daughter, Edna Bowers (Randy) of McColl; a son, Olin Reece (Laura Bartoloni) pf Chapin; and his loving and precious grandchildren, Kahlea and Kasper. Also surviving is one sister, Anne Pace of Brevard, N.C., and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reece was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and Jack Reece.
Mr. Reece was a member at Grace United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Pickens High School, Greenville

FELIX SAULTER ‘JUNIOR’ HENDRICKS JR.
EASLEY — Felix Saulter Hendricks Jr., 82, loving husband to JoAnn Holden for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills — Cottingham House in Seneca.
A native of Pickens County, Felix was born on May 14, 1939, son of the late Hazel Stegall and Felix Saulter Hendricks Sr.
Survivors include one son, Tim Hendricks (Cynthia) of Easley; one daughter, Tammy Morris of Easley; six grandchildren, Derrick Morris (Kimberly) of Greenville, Emily Anne Morris (Austin) of Greenville, Addie Morris (Mike) of Easley, Bonnie Morris (Samantha) of Greenville, Donavan Hendricks (Taylor) of Pickens and Duncan Hendricks of Easley; one great-granddaughter, Amara Adams of Greenville; and two sisters, Mary Bryson and Gail Elgin, both of Easley. CENTRAL — Janet Carol Smith Holladay, 72, of Six Mile Highway, died on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Fleetwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Easley.
Born in Liberty, she was the widow of Franklin Douglas Holladay and the daughter of the late Harrison and Eula Nicholson Smith. She was a
homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Samuel ‘Snake’ J. Bolding
PICKENS — Samuel “Snake” J. Bolding, 77, of Pickens, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at his home.
Born on Dec. 1, 1943, in Liberty, he a son of the late Fred Samuel Bolding and Martha Jessielene Brooks Bolding. Samuel was a fisherman and hunter and served in the United States Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant. He was a member of the Martin School Gang and was of the Christian faith.

THOMAS DALE STANCIL
EASLEY — Mr. Thomas Dale Stancil, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Mr. Stancil was born in Easley, and was the son of the late Linda Pilgrim Stancil and husband of Cynthia Stancil.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Megan Julian (Trad) of Easley and Madison Holliday (Chase) of Central. Also surviving are two loving and precious grandchildren, Ida and Cecile Julian; a twin brother, Johnny Stancil of Greenville; a brother, Jamie Stancil (Missy) of Norris; and a sister, Becky Stewart of Central. Also surviving are an aunt, Kathy Grant, and uncles, Wesley Durham, Dale Pilgrim (Mary) and Rickey Pilgrim, all of Six Mile, all who raised Thomas after the passing of his mother.
Mr. Stancil was predeceased by an aunt who assisted in his raising, Carolyn Durham, and his grandmother, Cornelia Pilgrim, all who played a major role in

ELIZABETH F. BOWERS
CENTRAL — Elizabeth F. “Lib” Bowers, 92, a resident of Brookdale Assisted Living in Central, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 14, 2021.
She was born in Piedmont on Sept. 1, 1928, to Esley and Nettie Freeman. She was the widow of Bill G. Bowers, Sr.
Lib was mother to six sons, Gaines Bowers Jr. (Mary Ann) of Lincolnton, N.C., Michael Bowers (Ella Mae) of Wellford, Ed Bowers of Seneca, John Bowers (Phyllis) of Easley, Phillip Bowers (Marsha) of Six Mile and George Bowers (Crystal) of Six Mile. She and her beloved husband raised their children with love and devotion in Six Mile.
Lib and Bill met while working in a textile mill, and they were married on July 3, 1948. Her primary vocation was as a mother and homemaker, and she used her

PICKENS — Mrs. Shirley Adams Abercrombie, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
Mrs. Abercrombie was born in Pickens County and was the daughter of the late Cecil C. Adams and Viola Willimon Gantt, stepdaughter to the late Woodrow Gantt and wife for 66 years to Charles W. Abercrombie.

PRISCILLA ANN PHILLIPS WATSON
PICKENS — Priscilla Ann Phillips Watson, of Pickens Gardens, danced her way into glory on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Born in Macon, Ga., she was a former staff member of The Feed Room restaurant and the Odds and Ends thrift shop in Pickens. Priscilla was a devoted member of Pickens Church of God and loved by her community. She never met a stranger, instead always finding new friends to invite to church.
