SIX MILE — Michael William Peterson, 63, of Six Mile, passed away on March 25, 2021, due to health complications.
Michael was the son of the late Mike Sevegen and the late Dorothy Sevegen. He was a truck driver for 15 years until sustaining an injury that led to his early retirement. NORRIS — Carolyn Rebecca “Becky” Peele Hooker, 52, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, after an extended battle with MS.
Becky is lovingly remembered by her husband, A. Henry Hooker Jr.; a son, Nicholas Hooker (Hope), and granddaughter, Presley; mother, Marion Peele; brother, Carlton Peele (Lanie); nephew, Brady Peele (Jamie); niece, Meagan P. Schulenberg, and great-nephew, Maddox.
She was predeceased by her father, Bobby L. Peele.

EDWINA GARRETT CRANE
EASLEY — Edwina Garrett Crane, 91, wife to William Carl “Bucky” Crane Jr., went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 5, 2021.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Edith Pike Garrett. She was a member of Easley First Baptist Church for 71 years and a member of Nosegay Garden Club. Mrs. Crane will be remembered for the notes of encouragement she wrote to those in need.
Mrs. Crane is survived by her husband of 71 years, William Carl “Bucky” Crane Jr.; son, William Carl Crane III (Jackie) of Easley; daughters, Candy C. Shuler of Marion and Sally G. CHARLOTTE ANN MILLER
SIX MILE — Charlotte “Ann” Miller passed early on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, of cumulative health problems, but not of COVID.
Ann was born on Jan. 30, 1945, at Fort Stewart Military Base in New Windsor, N.Y. and grew up as an army “brat.” Her father, a colonel in the U.S. Army, after the Second World War served in Taiwan, Japan and Austria in Europe. She carried to her end an Austrian accent. She was a student at Pueblo High School in Tucson, Ariz., and at the University of Arizona. She married Robert Walker Miller Jr. in June of 1966 and moved to Southeastern Pennsylvania, where her first daughter, Elizabeth

ELLA MAE WISE
PICKENS — Mrs. Ella Mae Vaughn Wise, 81, loving wife of the late Harold Wise, of Pickens, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown.
Mrs. Wise was born in Pickens County on June 17, 1939, to the late John Will and Rosa Lee Aiken Vaughn. She enjoyed many different activities in life and was always there to spend time with her family, extended family and friends. Prior to her declining health, she was very active in the YMCA Silver Sneakers program and gathering with her friends for lunches at her church. Mrs. Wise loved to go camping at the Smokey Mountain RV Park with her friends and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens.
Mrs. Wise is survived by two daughters, Shirley Norris of Pickens and Donna Owens (Roger) of Easley; her two brothers, Melvin Vaughn of Six Mile and Terry Vaughn of Pickens; her four grandchildren, Sabrina Robinson (James), Danielle Franks (Corey Porter),

MAT HERNDON
EASLEY — Claude Meadors “Mat” Herndon, 85, husband of Melissa Jane Durham Herndon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
Mat was born in Abbeville, the son of the late Edward Herndon and Corrine Bonds Sharpe. He was a graduate of Calhoun Falls High School and then served in the United States Army. After his service, he attended Newberry College, where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He later received his masters degree in education from Furman University and studied at both Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.
A lifelong educator, Mat taught and coached at Pickens High School, Abbeville High School and Byrnes High School prior to serving as principal of Pickens Junior High School. He went on to be the director of secondary education for the School District of Pickens County and retired as assistant superintendent in 1988.
Mat was a faithful and active member of Easley First Baptist

PICKENS — Mary Jennings Dougherty Boroughs, widow of Ralph Zeigler Boroughs, died on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021.
Born on Nov. 5, 1923, in North Orangeburg County, she was the daughter of the late Imogene Cope and Carlton O’Neal Dougherty.
She leaves behind her daughters, Elizabeth Burgess of Bremerton, Wash., Zoe (Martin) Fechner of Oradele, N.J., Helen (Mark) Kellogg of Severna Park, Md., and Roslyn (Vrezh) Bahumian of Falls Church, Va.; son, Ralph Dougherty (Connie) Boroughs of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Virginia (Terry) Dwyer; brothers, C.O. Dougherty Jr. (Martha) and Sam Brice Dougherty (Mary); and sisters, Imogene (Glenn)

EASLEY — Marilyn Stegall Finley, 81, wife of the late James Harold Finley, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.
Born in Easley, she was the daughter of the late Cull and Cleo Smith Stegall. Marilyn was a Christian who loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Freedom Fellowship Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and word search puzzles.

BOBBY GARLAND SIMMONS
EASLEY — Bobby Garland Simmons, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 24, 2021.
Mr. Simmons was born in Pickens County and was the son of the late Garland Hudson Simmons and Lucille Parsons Simmons.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Lynn Garrett Simmons of Easley; and daughters, Amy Britz (Luke) of Fort Mill and Jennifer Ables (Ross) of Anderson. Surviving are three grandchildren, Clayton, Carsyn and Connor; and aunts Doris Childs and Gertrude Hughes of Pickens.
Mr. Simmons was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner and operator of the Music Maker in Easley, having operated that business since 2009. He was a keyboard player, having played with several local bands throughout the Southeast. Mr. Simmons was an avid outdoorsman and had turned his home with Lynn into a hunting lodge. He was a member of the Anderson Electric City Shag Club and was known for his steps

PICKENS — Marshall Ellsworth Cobun Jr., 89, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at his home after a long life.
Marshall is survived by four children, Alice Sines, Rosa Stangeman, Theressa Pelfrey and Ray Cobun, and was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Freeman Sites, and a son, Marshall E. Cobun III. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Angie Sines, Kenny Sines, Patty Sines, Eric Sines, Robbie Turner, Chris Turner, Tim Pelfrey, Katie Pelfrey, Davie Culpepper, Karen Dunbar, Cherie Toney, Stephen Cobun and Rayna Cobun; along with 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
