Courier Obituaries 7-1-20

JEANNE B. GARNER

CHESTER — Mrs. Jeanne Brown Garner, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at MUSC Chester Nursing Center in Chester.

She was born on July 4, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Brown and Janie Frances Dukes McHenry. She frequently attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Chester and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens, where she was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

She was a graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown and was an LPN at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood before she retired to administer the home with her two children and husband.

She enjoyed reading, travel, time spent with family and friends and watching her beloved Georgia Bulldogs football team.

Mrs. Garner was predeceased by one brother, Robert C. Brown of Greenville, and her husband, Ray Garner of Pickens.

She is survived by sons, Brian (Jennifer) Garner of Chester and Brad (Brenda) Garner of Oxford, Pa.; three grandchildren, Andrew Garner, Madelynne Garner and Brianna (Nathan) Arnolds; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff at MUSC Chester Nursing Center, Lowrys Family Medicine, MUSC Chester Center and Carolina Heart for their outstanding love and care of our Mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeanne’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 107 Westpark Blvd. #220, Columbia, SC 29210.

PARKER WAYMON PACE

BREVARD — Parker Waymon Pace, 83, husband of Anne R. Pace of Brevard, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19, 2020. He was at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Rocky Bottom, he was the son of the late Milton C. Pace and Esther A. Pace.

Parker was a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on many committees. He retired from Ecusta (P.H. Glatfelter) after 42 years of service. Parker was a graduate of Pickens High School and had lived in Brevard since 1957. He was a member of the Dunn’s Rock Masonic Lodge and Oasis Shriners. In addition to his love of golf and Clemson football, he was a loving father and grandfather.

BARBARA JEAN HOLLOWAY ROBINSON

EASLEY — Ms. Barbara Jean Holloway Robinson, 65, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

Born in Easley, she was the daughter of John Marshall Holloway and the late Betty Jean Bowens Holloway.

Barbara retired from the Easley Recreation Department and was a member of the Avon Club. She loved to read and cook. Barbara was a people person, always putting the care of others ahead of her own and loved meeting people at all types of sporting events. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Surviving, in addition to her father, are a stepsister, Yolanda Anderson; a stepbrother, George Davis, and his wife, Teresa; and their children, Porsha Mansell, Wesley Davis and Taylor Davis.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

EASLEY — James Otis “Jim” Reid, 85, of Holly Bush Road, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late James Lewis Reid and Bertha Spearman Reid.

JOHN TOBIN WALL

EASLEY — John Tobin Wall, 73, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

John was born on May 2, 1947, to Captain William Wall and Ida Chandler Wall in Denver, Colo., and in childhood resided in Biloxi, Miss., Tachikawa, Japan, Summit, N.Y., Sembach, Germany, Valdosta, Ga., and Orlando, Fla. He graduated from William R. Boone High School in Orlando in 1965, going on to receive a degree in accounting from Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Fla. After graduating, he resided in Jacksonville and Melbourne, Fla. before moving to Easley.

John worked as a mechanic and electrician for many years, employed by Michelin and Square D Company, among others. He was a member of Mensa and the Upstate S.C. Writers Guild, where his writing was published multiple times.

In 1977, he met Janice Dillard, and they wed in 1978, going on to have three children, Katherine (born and deceased in 1980) Michael Wall of Spring Hill, Tenn., and

STEPHANIE ELIZABETH ‘LIBBY’ PIMLOTT

PICKENS — Libby Newton Pimlott, 48, wife of 27 years of James “Jamie” T. Pimlott, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, surrounded by her family after a three-year battle with cancer.

Libby is a daughter of Wayne Newton and Johnnie Cassell Newton. She was a lifelong resident of Pickens County and a 1990 graduate of Pickens High School. In addition to being a devoted Christian wife and mother, Libby was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and served the church for several years as a youth group leader.

After her God, Libby’s greatest love was her family. She met the love of her life and her soulmate, Jamie, when she was 15 years old. Together, they share two beautiful and talented daughters, who

DOROTHY FOLGER PENCE

PICKENS — Dorothy Folger Pence passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Known as “Dot,” she was the wife of Jay Pence for 66 years. She was born the daughter of Jack and Dorothy Folger in Columbia in 1931.

As a child, Dot lived in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, where her father was assistant manager, and later in Baltimore, where her father was manager of the Belvedere. After WWII, the family moved to Pickens to settle in the old family home place “12 Mile.” She attended Pickens High School one year before enrolling in Queens College (now University) in Charlotte, graduating in 1952. She worked for one year in the Clemson Extension Service

EASLEY — Mr. Randy Edward White, 62, husband of Donna Renner White for 34 years, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Born in Kingsport, Tenn., a son of the late Ernest J.B. White and Ella Fields Justus, Randy loved to go cruising and traveling every chance he had. He also loved to watch NASCAR and basketball, and was a huge University of Tennessee Volunteers fan. He loved all his animals, and it was obvious that they loved him, too.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, is a son, Jonathan White (Amanda); two sisters, Anita Hensley (Allen) and Karen Darnell (Steve); half-brother, Mark White; stepfather, Curtis Justus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

GARY LESTER GREENE

EASLEY — Mr. Gary Lester Greene, 71, husband of Ruby Sloan Greene, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Born in Six Mile, the son of the late Lester C. Greene and Ruth Bolding Gilbert, Mr. Greene was a member of Easley Church of God.

Surviving, in addition to his loving wife, are two sons, Ronnie Greene (Sherry) of Easley and Randy Greene (Andrea) of Greer; three grandsons, Samuel, Nicholas and Silas Greene; half-brother, Lonnie Gilbert (Amber) of Simpsonville; half-sister, Lisa Patterson (Chuck) of Pickens; stepmother, Mary W. Greene of Easley; three stepsiblings, Jean Hayes, Dale Aiken and Mickie Gilbert; and a lifetime friend, Don Sheridan.

Mr. Greene was predeceased by a stepsister, Judy Mann.

JESSE HAROLD PACE

PICKENS — Jesse Harold Pace, 88, husband of Bobbie Bolding Pace, ascended into the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 17, 2020.

Harold was born in Pickens, a son of the late Vernon and Ada Pace. He graduated from Pickens High School in 1951 and was employed in construction and trucking until his retirement. He was a foreman of a construction crew that helped to clear Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee. He ended his working career hauling trusses for Mac’s Trusses in Greenville.

He was a member of the South Carolina National Guard in the 1950s. He was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church in Pickens. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Pickens Fire Department for many years and he was a member of the Pickens County Bear Hunters Association.

In addition to his wife of almost 68 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Tebra Cloer (Dr. Michael Cloer) of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Freda Coyle (the late Redmond Coyle) of Easley; grandchildren, Anna Jabali, Clemson Coyle, Cameron Coyle, Jacob Cloer, Noelle Coyle, Aaron Cloer and Courtney Coyle; and great-grandchildren, Nyla Jabali, Michael, Gideon, Sophia and Rachel Cloer, Silas, Mary and Judah Cloer, Pace, Rett and Grady Coyle, and Noah and

JERRY BENJAMIN KELLEY SR.

EASLEY — Jerry Benjamin Kelley Sr., 79, born May 18, 1940, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Born in West Union, he was the son of the late Allen Kelley and Edith White Kelley.

Mr. Kelley Sr. was owner and operator of K&M Tool and Die, which he started back in 1977. He was known to be a hard worker and a good businessman in the community until retiring from the business in 2018. Mr. Kelley loved his church and his church family at Free Wesleyan Church and helping missionaries and ministers. He loved spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. People knew him for having chickens and giving away fresh eggs to those he came into contact with as long as his health would allow. He always wanted to bring
