MARTHA ROMAINE BARRETT JOHNSON
SUNSET — Martha Romaine Barrett Johnson, 96, wife of the late Bob “Scatter” Johnson, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at her home.
Born on Sept. 22, 1922, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Tiny Galloway Barrett. She was the business owner of Bob’s Place in Sunset. Romaine loved music, flowers, her friends and bikers. She was a great storyteller and never met a stranger.

SHAKYRA IMARI JAMIA YOUNG
PICKENS — Shakyra Imari Jamia Young, 11, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, in Greenville.
Born in Easley, she was the daughter of Latisha Wilson and Benjamin Young. Shakyra fully enjoyed life. She enjoyed dancing, singing, pranking, entertaining and bringing joy to all those around her. She was thoughtful and always concerned about others. Shakyra loved her sister, Shamari, and all her other siblings. She enjoyed her daily visits from Mr. Jim Little, who always made her laugh and smile. He was a very special part of her life. Shakyra lived out her remaining days through memorable experiences with Brian Forcier through the nonprofit organization skylastrong.org, which the family would like to give a special thanks. She took helicopter rides, went to Carowinds and Big Air, partying like a rock star “diva” complete with glitter.

DAVID PRESTON ALEXANDER
PICKENS — David Preston Alexander, 75, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019.
David was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Pickens, to the late David Edward and Ruth (Cooper) Alexander.
Preston loved people, as he never met a stranger. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, generosity and exceptional work ethic.
Preston and his father owned a grading/trucking company for many years. He drove a truck for C&S Wholesale Grocers until his retirement.
Preston is survived by his wife, Judy Alexander; one sister, Susan Grant; two sons, Daniel Christopher Alexander (Elizabeth) and Preston Scott Alexander (Sandra); one daughter, Presley Arlene Lewis (Kevin); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at Dillard Funeral Home chapel on July 25, with the Rev. Tommy Hayes officiating. Entombment followed the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family welcomes visitors at the home of Chris Alexander.

STEPHEN MILLER “STEVE” ROBINSON
GREENVILLE — Mr. Stephen Miller “Steve” Robinson, 70, husband of 48 years to Dianne Pritchard Robinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Born in Spartanburg County, a son of the late Rev. Carlton Miller Robinson and the late Melissa Willis Robinson, Steve was a graduate of Greenville High School. He attended North Greenville College and Mars Hill College. He loved Greenville and was incredibly proud of “his” city.
For many years, Steve was the owner/operator of U-SAVE Car Lease in Easley. In addition, he had a successful career with Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company. He lived a life of service to his community and church through Meals on Wheels, Greenville Textile Heritage Society, outreach groups and coaching. Being the son of a minister, Steve truly understood the inner working of the church and often offered assistance in even the smallest tasks. Steve was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Stephanie Robinson Tollison and husband, Christopher E. Tollison, of Simpsonville; a son, Ryan Hamilton Robinson and wife, Wendi M. Robinson, of Simpsonville; a brother, David Rice Robinson and wife, Elaine, of Easley; and grandchildren, Garrett Ryan Tollison, Ellie Tollison, Sam Robinson, all of Simpsonville, Kory Griggs of Columbia and Adam Griggs of Travelers Rest.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Carlton Robinson; and a grandson, Carson Mitchell Tollison.
Steve was an avid sports fan, most particularly of Furman University football and basketball. He especially enjoyed beach music, 1950s nostalgia and The Statler Brothers. Steve was known for his incredible sense of humor. His joy was bringing a smile to the lips and a chuckle from within … and a belly laugh was even greater! He counted his friendships as one of his most treasured possessions. His wife, Dianne, was his biggest fan and truly the love of his life. His steadfast faith in God and his never-ending effort to leave all with a smile made us all better for having known him. Truly, Steve was a fine example of one of his favorite phrases: “ENJOY THE RIDE”!
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Easley First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:45 p.m. Sunday at the church.

BOBBIE LEE MOODY HUGHES
PENDLETON — Bobbie Lee Moody Hughes, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1933, in Greenville to the late Rev. Daniel W and Callie Stephens Moody.
Mrs. Hughes was a devoted Christian, and even during her sickness, she shared her love for the Lord with everyone she met. She was a devoted mother and wife, as well as being a business woman in her earlier years, owning and operating her own upholstery business. She also loved the outdoors, and her interests included camping, spending time at the beach, picnics, bluebird watching and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Hughes Lognion (Dwayne) of Pendleton and Anita Hughes Bratcher (Tommy) of Belton; one granddaughter, Shelly Bratcher Barrow of Belton; two sisters, Betty Haire of Easley and Ellen Harris of Easley; and two brothers, Gearld Moody of Easley and Donald Moody of Williamston.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Alfred Eugene Hughes; two brothers, Daniel W. Moody Jr. and Calvin W. Moody; and one sister, Shirley McKee.
Memorial services were held on July 12 in the funeral home chapel. Burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

EASLEY — Dorothy Vivian Holder Blalock, 82, of Oaklane Drive, wife of the late Jack “Frosty” Blalock, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Lucy Baines Holder.
Mrs. Blalock was retired from Judson Mill in Greenville after 52 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Enon Baptist

JIMMY RAY MOORE
EASLEY — Mr. Jimmy Ray Moore, 62, husband of Robyn Hunter Moore, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
Born in Bitburg, Germany, a son of the late Heyward Cleveland Moore and the late Etta May Howard Moore, Mr. Moore was retired from the Clemson University Police Department, where he was disabled in the line of duty. He was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he belonged to the Redeemed Sunday school class.
Jimmy was an avid rock climber and loved being a member of the Easley Rescue Squad, serving on the Mountain Rescue Team and the Dive Team. He loved children and was proud to serve as chairman of the Friends of the Guardian ad Litem. Mr. Moore loved and adored his family, but his greatest love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Lord blessed Jimmy and his family for many years, having allowed him to be the longest living heart transplant survivor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

TOMMY LAMAR WIRES
PICKENS — Tommy Lamar Wires, 79, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, June 17, 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda of the home; two sons, David Wires of Pendleton and Bill Wires of Anderson; two grandchildren, Carson and Logan Wires of Anderson; sisters-in-law Barbara Day of Pickens and Margene, Ola Lee and Janice Wyres of Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred O. and Lonnie B. Wyres; sister, Ruby Colburn; and brothers, Frank Wyres, Willie Wyres, Richard Wyres, Parson Wyres and Bobby Wyres.
Along with an unwavering loyalty to his family, Tommy was devoted to his Lord, his country and his community. Tommy continuously showed his love of the Lord through random acts of generosity. Tommy served his country in the United States Marine Corp for 10 years and served two tours in Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. Tommy served his community through the American Legion by going to local elementary schools to teach students patriotism and the proper way to handle the American Flag. Tommy was a true example of how to show love for God and country.

CENTRAL — Verna Marie Rocco, 79, passed from this life Thursday, June 20, 2019, at her home.
Born in New Castle, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth L. Book Sr. and the late Georgetta Clark Book.
Verna was of the Catholic faith, enjoyed playing bingo, was a vendor at the Anderson Jockey Lot and an avid news watcher, and she loved her family.

TONY SHEHAN
PICKENS — Clarence Edward Shehan (Tony Shehan), born June 29, 1954, was called home and left this world on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
He was the son of Dewey B. Shehan Jr. and Hazel Ruth Durham, both deceased, of Pickens.
He leaves behind a former wife, Iva Stratton Shehan, and two step-children, Shelly Wilson and Erica Hyland. He had one sister, Ruth Smith, wife of Terry Smith of Pickens, and their two children, Missy Mauldin (Bear) and Chris Smith; a brother, David Bryan Shehan and wife, Robin, of Pickens; and a brother, Richard Allen Shehan (Al Shehan), deceased, and former wife, Angela Shehan, and their two children, Amanda Vaughn and Robbie Shehan. He also leaves behind several uncles, Ted Shehan, Albert Durham and Carl Durham, and an aunt, Helen (Susie) Bell.
Tony was a graduate of the Class of 1971 at Pickens High School. He loved playing music in a band in high school with his friends.
He was a registered land surveyor in Pickens for 38 years.
He was a former pilot, served on the aeronautics commission, and was a champion

DONALD R. RIPPY JR.
EASLEY — Mr. Donald Ray Rippy Jr., 60, husband of Jennifer Myers Rippy, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his home.
Born in Charlotte, N.C., a son of the late Donald Ray Rippy Sr. and the late Hazel Hager Rippy, Mr. Rippy was a graduate of Minor High School and was retired from King Asphalt. Donald loved woodworking and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan, but most of all he loved his family and his grandbabies.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Ashley Morrison (Kevin) of Liberty, Alycia Avery (Jason) of Jacksonville, Fla., Kathryn Mills (Travis) of Birmingham, Ala., and Carmen Shaw of Easley; a son, Noah Shaw of Easley; a brother, Bobby Rippy (Lisa) of Pineville, N.C.; a sister, Wanda Welch (Jeff Baumgarner) of Concord, N.C.; four grandchildren, Samuel Mills, Reece Mills, Caroline Mills and Loghan Morrison; and one grandchild on the way, Jesse Mills.
The family will host a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at 5 Point Church in Easley.

ROSS CRUM
EASLEY — James Ross Crum, 89, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019, at his home.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late James Edgar Crum and Georgia Ellen Ross Crum.
Mr. Crum proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service. Following retirement from the Air Force, he was a self-employed electrician. He was raised in Arial United Methodist Church and was a member of Morningstar Independent Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge #302 A.F.M., the American Legion Post #172 and the Columbia Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Peggy Thomas Corn Crum of the home; daughters, Linda Ellen Smith (Roger) of Six Mile and Judith Crum Henderson and April Marie Crum Stewart (Chad), all of Easley; sons, Ronald Edward Crum and Michael Wayne Crum,
