SUDIE A. AIKEN
EASLEY — Clara “Sudie” Atkins Aiken, 88, of South 9th Street, wife of the late Robert L. Aiken, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie “Chick” Atkins and Zora Mae “Tommie” Suddeth Atkins.
Mrs. Aiken was retired from Woodside Mill in Easley and later was manager of the Senior Center in Easley. She loved her family and enjoyed growing flowers, cooking for friends and family and crafting.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy Young (David) and Joy Wilson (Jason), all of Easley; grandsons, Scott Davis and Bryan Young; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and three granddogs.
Mrs. Aiken was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Johnny L. Aiken; a grandson, Corey L. Young; sisters, Thelma Garrick and Edna Atkins; and a brother, Bud Atkins.
Graveside services were held on Feb. 14 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

OPAL LEE STEWART BROOM
SIX MILE — Opal Lee Stewart Broom, 79, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.
Born in Six Mile, she was the daughter of the late Burley James Stewart and Gertrude Messer Stewart. Mrs. Broom was a devoted Christian who loved worshipping the Lord. She was an active member of Keowee Baptist Church.
Mrs. Broom was a homemaker, master quilter and avid sports fan. She loved playing softball, trout fishing, gardening and golfing, especially with her husband, Hase. She loved to travel and road-tripped through all 48 continental U.S. states. When she was not on the road, you could find her at any number of sporting events, art exhibits, concerts, plays and school functions supporting all of her grandchildren. Her biscuits, pound cakes and apple butter were unparalleled, and you could always smell a fresh batch cooking when you entered her home.
Surviving are her one daughter, Cindy Broom Riddle; two sons, Greg Broom and wife, Valerie, and Chris Broom and wife, Frankie; one sister, Eloise Stewart Carver; brothers Milfred Jenkins Stewart and James Wilton Stewart;

EVELYN ALLGOOD
PICKENS — Evelyn Heath Allgood, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.
Mrs. Allgood was born in Greenville County, daughter of the late Courtney and Zelpha Cheek Heath. She was formerly employed with Sangamo Electric, and she retired from the Singer Company in Pickens. Following her retirement, she enjoyed working at Joe’s Ice Cream Parlor in Easley. She was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday school class.

REBECCA MARIE “BECKY” MOORE
EASLEY — Becky Moore, 66, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Marion, Ohio, Rebecca is a daughter of the late Paul Edward and Betty Jane Long Moore. She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and formerly a member of Goshen Friends Church in Logan County, Ohio.
To know Becky was to know her love for her church and what an ace she was at Scrabble.
Survivors include three nieces, Joni Tevis (David) of Greenville, Diantha LaVine (David) of San Diego, Calif., and Susan Moore of Chile; a nephew, Paul Moore of Ashland, Ohio; a sister, Margie Tevis
CONETHEL HUDSON
SUNSET — Conethel Watson Hudson, 81, passed from this life on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019.
Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter Lee “Cooter” Hudson Sr.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1937, in Pickens County, to the late Clemmie and Allie Owens Watson. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Crowe Creek Church of God in Six Mile, where she was the last surviving charter member. She served as the church secretary for over 50 years and the church clerk for over 40 years.
Mrs. Hudson was retired from the School District of Pickens County after 34 years of service. She was the lunchroom manager at A. R. Lewis Elementary School for her entire career. She loved feeding

LIBERTY — Clara Bagwell Hunter, 77, formerly of Liberty, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Brookdale Central.
Born in Liberty, she was the wife of Joe Richard Hunter Sr. and a daughter of the late James and Vera Bagwell. She was retired from the School District of Pickens County, where she had worked many years as the cafeteria manager at Liberty High School. She loved sewing and shopping at the thrift stores. She was a longtime member of Liberty First Baptist Church, where she had served as the director of the

FRANCES EUBANKS CANUP
EASLEY — Mrs. Frances Eubanks Canup, 81, wife of the late Charles Ray Canup, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at her home.
Born in Spartanburg County, a daughter of the late Robert Plato Eubanks and the late Alma Russell Eubanks, Mrs. Canup was a graduate of Landrum High School. She was employed with TG&Y from 1971-1985, Sheriff Appliance from 1985-1987 and Steinmart from 1987-2012. Frances was of the Baptist faith.
Frances always had a heartwarming smile for everyone. She was the rock and head of her family, having taught her children and grandchildren how to make a home. She will be dearly missed.

JAVY TAYLOR
LIBERTY — Carlos Javier “Javy” Taylor, 24, of 110 Piney Trail, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, in Kern County, Calif., from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born in Easley, he was a son of Joseph Emory and Leticia Rivera Taylor of the home. Javy loved baseball. He played little league ball through the Liberty Rec growing up and later played at Liberty High School, where he graduated in 2012. He went on to play with the California City Whiptails. Javy also loved music, as well as spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Robin M. Usher
CLEMSON — Robin Marie Usher, 54, died after a brief illness Monday, Dec. 17, 2018.
She was born in New Jersey, May 3, 1964, a daughter of William “Bill” Johnson and Virginia Muzzy.
Robin worked for 12 years for the city of Clemson in administration. When she wasn’t working, nothing was more important to her than her family. She also enjoyed traveling.
Robin is survived by her significant other, Alan Godfrey of Seneca; two sons, Eric Masker (Billie) of Greenville and Ethan Usher of Clemson; a daughter, Channing Usher of Clemson; two grandchildren, Katelynn and Ava Masker; a brother, Sean Johnson (Katie) of Belton; and a sister, Doreen Trotter (Jim) of Conway. She was predeceased by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central.
The family will receive friends at 4:45 p.m., prior to the service.

Calvin Joe Watts Sr.
EASLEY — Calvin Joe Watts Sr., 69, of Easley, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Fletcher, N.C., he was the son of Louella McCall Watts of Easley and the late John Watts.
Mr. Watts served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed reading.
Surviving are his sons, Calvin Joe Watts Jr. (Ashley) of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Paul Allen Head of Lugoff; a daughter, Kathy Clay (Darren) of Pickens; one sister, Joyce McJunkins of Easley; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a daughter, Christina Watts; brother, Jimmy Watts; and sister, Reva Goodine.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home Downtown, with burial following at the Mountain View Baptist Church cemetery in Six Mile.
Flowers will be accepted.

Samuel “Sam” Dyar McJunkin
SENECA — Samuel “Sam” Dyar McJunkin of Seneca passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at the Foothills Assisted Living in Walhalla.
A native of Seneca, Mr. McJunkin was the son of the late J.C. and Maybelle Dyar McJunkin. He was a retired sergeant major of the Army Reserves 108th Division and was a member of the Seneca American Legion Post No. 120. He was a past master and longtime secretary of the Courtenay Masonic Lodge No. 249, a current member of the Blue Ridge Lodge No. 92 of Walhalla, Mr. McJunkin was a Past Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of South Carolina. He was a life member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple for more than 62 years, a member of the Blue Ridge Shrine Club where he was past president and also served as secretary for many years. Mr. McJunkin was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was retired from Dan River Carpets in Greenville after 40 years.
Mr. McJunkin was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewel Hightower McJunkin, his second wife, Linda Burns McJunkin, brothers, James and Julius McJunkin, and a sister, Sarah McJunkin.
Graveside services were held Dec. 22 at the Corinth Baptist Church cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Greenville Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Mary Ellen Kelley
SIMPSONVILLE — Mary Ellen Kelley, 84, went to be with her heavenly Father on Dec. 18, 2018.
Born in Six Mile on Aug. 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Allen Mitchell and Mozell Davis Mitchell.
She was a Southern Wesleyan University alumnus and retired school teacher with a master’s degree, serving more than 30 years at Bethel Elementary School, and an ADK member. She was a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church and former member of Greenville First Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elvin R. Kelley, and siblings, Vera Mitchell Peek, Dr. Virgil Mitchell, Eugene Mitchell, Edna Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell and Charles Mitchell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise Cauley (Johnny) and Kim Stroud (Robert); grandchildren, Erica Cauley, Ashley Robinson (Justin), Jared Stroud (Taylor) and Ethan Stroud; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Stroud and Emma-Grace Stroud; and beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She lovingly devoted her time serving Greenville First Wesleyan Church as tithing secretary and secretary of Greenville First Wesleyan Women. She was actively involved in her women’s circle. She and her husband served as caregivers to many over the years, unselfishly giving of their time to help the sick or lend a helping hand. The family would like to personally thank her many friends and family who came to her aide. A special thanks to the nurses and CNAs at Brushy Creek Rehab and Healthcare and Palladium Hospice for their loving care.
Services were held at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens on Saturday, Dec. 22, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Walter R and Bertie Anglin Donahue, she was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and of the Eastern Star.
