Norris — Clara Boccabella Sarish, 91, of 371 Jule Merck Road, and formerly of 1328 Smith Township State Road, Burgettstown, Pa., died Monday, April 28, 2014 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Bridgeville, Pa. she was the widow of Steve Sarish and a daughter of the late Vincent and Erminia Dallaglio Boccabella. Mrs. Sarish worked at American Bridge and later retired from Coliers Steel. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Burgettstown, Pa.

Easley — Mrs. Otis Elizabeth Gilstrap James, 91, wife of the late Calvin Edward “Buss” James, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late William Benson and Mamie Medlin Gilstrap, Mrs. James retired from Mayfair Mills-Glenwood Division, and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and the GA’s.

Clemson — Mrs. Mary Broome Blalock Wilson, 90, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Clemson Downs Retirement Center in Clemson.
She was born July 2, 1923 in Asheville, N.C. to William Edward and Cora Morgan Broome. Mrs. Wilson graduated from Mars Hill College and Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, N.C., where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Pickens — Hazel Ruth Shehan, 87, of Pickens, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her home.
Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. Durham and Eva Stephens Durham. Mrs. Shehan was retired after 60 plus years from the alterations business. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church and a devoted member of the Pickens Senior Center where she loved to cook in the kitchen and make her many crafts that she donated for fundraising activities. Her hobbies included quilt making, crocheting, collecting antique dishes, fishing, camping, and working in the vegetable and flower garden. Cateechee — Rose Baumgartner Nannemann, 90, of Cateechee Trail died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the widow of the late Gerald Herman Nannemann and a daughter of the late George and Magdeline Kippes Baumgartner. She was retired from the National Catholic Society of Foresters and was of the Catholic faith.

Maurice Clarence Holliday
Easley — Maurice Clarence Holliday, age 80, husband of Lucille Collier Holliday died on Thursday March 20, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Holliday was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Madge Moneta Kennemore Holliday and J.D. Holliday. Mr. Holliday was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Easley. He also loved fixing cars and working around the house.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, three daughters; Lucretia Crowe and husband Glenn of Pickens, Matilda Holliday of Alabama, Edith McCall and husband Randy of Woodruff, one son; Randal Holliday and wife Bethany of Easley, one sister; Derolyn Crowe of Easley, three brothers; Charles Holliday and wife Estella of Easley, Kenneth Holliday and wife Fay of Pickens, Ray Holliday and wife Brenda of Easley, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Jake Lance
Pickens — J.D. “Jake” Lance, 91, of 169 Massingill Road, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Elbert and Terzie Stansell Lance, Mr. Lance was employed with Easley Ice Parlor for 27 years, after which he owned and operated J.D. Lance Paint Contractors for 36 years. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where he belonged to the Jim Merritt Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mary Reece Lance of the home; a son, Randy Fowler (Joyce) of Pickens; two daughters, Lola Clark (Bill) of Augusta, Ga., and Carolyn Boyd of Pawley’s Island; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Julia M. Alexander
Pickens — Ms. Julia McKenzie Alexander, 87, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Rose Hill Retirement Community in Marion, N.C.
A lifelong resident of Pickens County, Ms. Alexander was born a daughter of the late Ernest Franklin and Frederica McDaniel Alexander. Julia was a graduate of Pickens High School and attended Draughon’s Business College in Greenville. She retired from Duke Power with 30 years of service, and was recognized as Duke’s first female branch manager. She was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church. Ms. Alexander, affectionately known as “Miss Julia”, was well known for her knowledge and records she kept of the history of the Pickens area. College professors and historians often consulted Julia on local history. At least three books have been written on the Alexander family heritage in the Upstate. She was elected President Emeritus of the Pickens County Historical Society where she was a charter member. She also received the I Fan the Flame Award from the Pickens County Revitalization Association for her support and contributions to the community.
Surviving are a sister; Frederica Black of Marion, N.C; two nieces, Linda B. Wood (Richard) of Marion, N.C, and Amy Alexander Schneider (Brett) of Lenexa, Kan.; one nephew, Joe Black (Katherine) of Buena Vista, Colo.; two great nieces, Heather Wood Anderson (Greg) and their children Grace and Molly of Marion, N.C., and Liza Wood Holmes (John) of Rock Hill.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Alexander was predeceased by a beloved brother, Vincent Holley Alexander.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, March 22 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pickens — Gertrude Galloway, age 72, died Monday March 3, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Galloway was born in Transylvania County N.C., a daughter of the late Cassie Elzora Smith Owen and Avery Owen. Mrs. Galloway enjoyed cooking for her family at holiday gatherings. She also loved drawing and her family with all of her heart.

Marietta — Mrs. Dorothy Marie McCain Davis, 90, wife of the late Ellis Howard Davis, Sr., died Monday, Feb., 24, 2014 at her home.
Born in Ohio, a daughter of the late Harvey and Clara Chichester McCain, Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Marietta.
