ELLA WYATT ‘NEBO’ CARTER

EASLEY — Ella Wyatt “Nebo” Carter, 94, wife of the late Fred Lee Carter, of Easley, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2023.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Ellie Nimmons Wyatt.

Ella was a simple country woman who loved fishing, gardening, canning and the Great Smoky Mountains. She loved country music and square dancing with her beloved husband. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Greenville.

Ella is survived by a brother, John Jackson Wyatt (Sue) of Dacusville; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Cody and Denise of Amedisys Hospice and to the staff of Oakview Park Assisted Living for their loving care of Ella.

LEON FREDRICK STENZEL

CLEVELAND — Leon Fredrick Stenzel, 88, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Atlanta, surrounded by family and friends.

Leon was born in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Charles Stenzel and Erna Koenig Stenzel on March 20, 1935.

Following high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Fort Bragg, N.C. After serving his country, he worked for American Motors, during which time he met his wife, Geraldine (Geri) Stenzel. Leon’s career in sales took them many places including Michigan, North Carolina,

STACEY GRANT WORTMAN SHAVER

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Stacey Grant Wortman Shaver, 43, of Kings Mountain, N.C., passed away on Aug. 13, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Mecklenburg County, N.C., and was preceded in death by her father, Gary Wray Wortman, and her brother, Travis Wortman.

Stacey was a former member of Kings Mountain Nazarene Church. She was a graduate of the Kings College Certified Medical Assistant program and worked in pediatrics and the medical field for several years.

She was also a graduate of Belmont Abbey College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree.

Stacey was employed by Cleveland County Schools and served as a teacher at Kings Mountain middle and high schools for the past four years. She was an accomplished dancer and danced with Dance Productions in Charlotte, N.C. Stacey was a member of a dance troop that won national awards and performed at the U.S. Olympics in Atlanta. She enjoyed teaching dance and gymnastics at Dance Reflections in Kings Mountain, passing along her love and talent to other young people.

Stacey was a devoted mother, and family was always her top priority. She possessed a sweet, loving and kind spirit that will be remembered by her family, her students and all who knew her.

Surviving are her children, Sydnie Hay, Clara Shaver and Brody Shaver, all of the home; her mother, Linda Wortman of Kings Mountain, N.C.; her sister, Shannon Childress of Greer; her nieces, Payton and Hunter Prince of Greer;

SANDRA ‘SANDY’ NIMMONS STRICKER

SENECA — Sandra “Sandy” Nimmons Stricker, 71, loving wife of 18 years to William Stricker, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born April 24, 1952, in Pickens County, Sandy was the daughter of the late Clarence Nimmons and Ruby Bryant Nimmons. Sandy was a devout Christian and brought joy to everyone she knew. For many years, she ran the Six Mile Cafe with her brother, Rick Nimmons, serving breakfast and lunch to people from all over Pickens County. Following the closure of the restaurant, Sandy worked at Wal-Mart in Central, where she continued to make many friends with her kind, caring demeanor. She loved pansies, enjoyed crossword and sudoku puzzles and loved being around people. Above all else, Sandy loved her family and selflessly took care of them, and she especially loved her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, Wiliam Stricker of the home; her brother, Rocky Nimmons (Marty); nieces and nephew, Kelly Holmes, Katie Merritt (T.J.) and Bru Nimmons; and great-niece and great-nephews, Audrey Merritt, Spencer Merritt and Artemis “Xander” Holmes.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stricker was predeceased by a brother, Rick Nimmons, and a nephew, David Holmes.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted.

EASLEY — Officer Matthew Logan Hare, 22, an esteemed member of the Easley Police Department, passed away on Aug. 2, 2023, in Easley. He was born on Feb. 3, 2001, and leaves behind a legacy of courage and selflessness.

Matthew began his journey in law enforcement in 2022 after graduating from Easley High School in 2019. His passion for serving his community led him to enroll in the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy, where he acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as a police officer. Matthew’s dedication to his profession was admired by all who knew him.

Beyond his commitment to his career, Matthew had a vibrant personality that lit up any room

ALLAN FREDERICK QUINN

EASLEY — Allan Frederick Quinn, 74, of Easley passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Helena, Mont., with his girlfriend, Mary Ann Duncan of Liberty, by his side.

Allan was born on the campus of Clemson University and raised in his beloved Easley, leaving only to serve 10 years in the United States Army, where he served in Germany, Greece and Korea in the nuclear weapons division. Allan loved the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).

Mrs. Swayngham was born in Easley, a daughter of the late Jack Ledford and the late Christine Painter-Watson. She was a graduate of Central Wesleyan University and was a retired accountant and a member of Hepsibah Baptist Church in Seneca.

EASLEY — Margaret Omega Kelley, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Jerry B. Kelley Sr.

Omega (Meg) was born in Oconee on Jan. 26, 1941, to the late Jesse Dyar and Marvin Jane Seaborn Dyar. Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker.

She loved to crochet and made many dish cloths and potholders to give to the community. Meg loved spending time with her children,

grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
