CCNE grants accreditation for Southern Wesleyan University nursing degree

CENTRAL — The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) granted accreditation for the RN to BSN degree program at Southern Wesleyan University.

“This was a major program initiative at Southern Wesleyan over the past two or more years in that we have heard the call from our communities for well-prepared bachelor degree nurses,” SWU president Dr. Todd Voss said. “Our RN bachelor of science in nursing program is extremely high quality and focuses on the kinds of areas the health care profession is seeking to fill. We are so delighted to move this fully online program into high gear for this fall semester.”

“We have developed a high-touch, high-impact online BSN program with an intensive focus on the needs identified by our employers — caring, professionalism and leadership — competencies that are congruent to our SWU mission,” said Dr. Lynn Brown-Bulloch, associate dean and administrator for the program. “We are especially proud of our first graduates and the social, cognitive, and spiritual development they are exemplifying upon completion of our program.”

The accreditation action takes effect Oct. 7 and will be for five years, extending to June 30, 2025. The CCNE board determined that Southern Wesleyan’s program fully met all four accreditation standards. For details about CCNE, visit ccneaccreditation.org.
