Christmas events still on tap around county

COUNTY — Christmas events will continue throughout the county this week, as parades are planned in Pickens, Dacusville and Norris.

With a theme of “The Doodle Express,” Pickens’ Christmas parade is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, with awards to be presented following the parade in the city’s amphitheater and a fireworks display originating from Bruce Field to cap the night’s activities.

Dacusville’s parade is planned for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday, with the route starting at the Norman Heights subdivision and going up S.C. Highway 186 to the Dacusville Community Center.

Norris has also planned its parade for Saturday, with an 11 a.m. start and a theme of “Lights and Sounds of Christmas.”

Liberty Mortuary and Hillcrest Memorial Park will both also host Christmas candlelight services on Saturday. Liberty Mortuary’s luminary will begin at 5 p.m. at the cemetery.

Dillard’s chapel will be the site of a service of remembrance at 4 p.m. Candlelight service will follow at 6 p.m. in Hillcrest cemetery.

On Sunday, Pickens First Baptist will host a Christmas nativity at Legacy Square. The event will feature food, children’s games and music and will be free to the public. The event will begin at 5 p.m. In case of imclement weather, the event will be held in the fellowship hall of the church.
