COUNTY — Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for Pickens County’s new emergency services facility Thursday afternoon.

The facility will be located behind the county’s administration building on McDaniel Avenue in Pickens and is funded in part by American Rescue Plan Act funds.

County administrator Ken Roper said the facility is “essential.”
