• Porter’s Chapel to hold chili cook-off
Do you love chili? If the answer is yes, then make plans for the Porter’s Chapel chili cook-off this Saturday, Oct. 19, from 4-6 p.m. Porter’s Chapel is located at 152 E Preston McDaniel Road in Pickens.
• Arial Baptist plans fall festival this week
Arial Baptist Church, located at 618 Rice Road in Easley, will be holding a fall festival this Saturday, Oct. 19, starting at 11 a.m. The event is planned to last throughout the evening and offer a bouncy house for the kids, a cruise-in and some old-time gospel singing by local individuals and groups. There will also be free hot dogs, chips and tea as long as they last. Everyone is invited to the fun-filled event for the entire family.
• PCLA to hold book sale on Oct. 25-26
Pickens Presbyterian Church will be hosting a book sale to benefit the Pickens County Literacy Association. The sale, which will be held on Oct. 25 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Oct. 26 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., includes hardback, paperback, inpirational, cookbooks, health, craft and childrens books, CDs, DVDs, tapes and much more. • Faith Lutheran to host yard sale
Faith Lutheran Church is getting ready for its 11th annual church yard sale. The huge yard sale will offer all sorts of items, with the proceeds going to benefit community charities around the Pickens area. The two-day event will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19. The yard sale starts each day a 7 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. The list of items will be massive, with adult and children clothes, blankets, household items, furniture, toys, dishes and some tasty homemade baked goods. Faith Lutheran is located at 729 W. Main St. in Pickens, just across the street from Blue Ridge Co-op. Proceeds will go to the Gleaning House, Dream Center, MARYS House, the Humane Society and the Happy Gift Corp., all of which are located in Pickens.
• Amazing Grace planning yard sale
There will be a churchwide yard sale this Saturday, Oct. 19, starting at 8 a.m. at Amazing Grace Fellowship, located at 229 Pearl St. in Pickens. There will be men’s, women’s and children’s items, plus more.
• Soapstone set to host fundraiser
Soapstone Church invites everyone to a special fundraiser at the church, located at 296 Liberia Road in Pickens, this Saturday, Oct. 19. The event will feature fine cooking and will be held from noon-8 p.m. It will also be the final chance to get some of Mrs. Mabel’s cooking in 2019. Visitors will enjoy true Southern cooking, including a fish fry, barbecue and fried chicken with all the fixings right from Mrs. Mabel’s kitchen.

• Keowee Baptist to hold annual revival
Keowee Baptist Church will host a revival from Sunday to Wednesday, Nov. 10-13, starting at 7 p.m. each night.
Preacher Rick Hayes will be preaching. Everyone is invited. No reservations are required — just bring a heart ready to be filled with the almighty goodness of the Savior. • Pack 51 scouting for new Cub Scouts
Do you want to be a Cub Scout? Cub Scout Pack 51 meets every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens. This year’s program has just started, and more than 20 cub scouts were in attendance at the most recent meeting. Cub Scouts is open to all youth in 5K to fifth grade. Boys over 11 years are eligible for Boy Scouts, which meets on Monday nights at the Troop 51 Scout Hut in Pickens.
