• Cannon Auxiliary to host Winter Fest
Cannon Auxiliary will hold its annual Winter Fest from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 15 in the AnMed Health Cannon classroom. A variety of handmade items will be for sale. • Pickens VA Office to host veterans event
The Pickens County Veterans Affairs office is excited about the upcoming Veterans Day events this year. The office is celebrating the many veterans in Pickens County to show their appreciation to all and the sacrifices that were made.
The second annual Veterans’ Appreciation Dinner is being hosted again this year by Golden Creek Baptist Church in Liberty.
The Pickens VA office said all veterans, ROTC units, National Guard and other veterans’ organizations who have not already signed up to participate in the Veterans Parade have until Oct. 31 to sign up by calling (864) 898-5926, (864) 898-5928 or (864) 898-5243.
A patriotic show will follow the parade, and guests should call (864) 898-5926 to reserve a seat.
• Grace UMC to host Bazaar and lunch
Grace United Methodist Church, located at 309 E. Cedar Rock St. in Pickens, has holiday events planned. The church’s Fall Bazaar and Luncheon will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Admission is free, and bazaar items will include baked goods, candy, casseroles, quiche, handmade jewelry, handmade crafts, wood crafts, holiday items, homemade jams, jellies, pickles and more. A turkey and dressing lunch will be available. Tickets are $10, and lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The lunch is available dine-in or carry-out. Tickets can be bought in advance by calling the church office at (864) 878-2161
• Amazing Grace to host holiday fair
Amazing Grace Fellowship Church will be hosting a holiday craft fair on Nov. 10. The event starts at 8 a.m. There will be baked goods, a yard sale, hand-made goods and more. The church is located at 229 Pearl St. in Pickens.
• Oyster Roast set to help county GA
The fifth annual Clusters for Kids Oyster Roast will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, and presented by Acker Lambert Hinton PA.
Community sponsors, supporters and the Friends of Pickens County Guardian ad Litem program will gather at Arran Farm for the festivities beginning at 5 p.m.
Serving as honorary chairs of the oyster roast will be Ruth and Sen. Rex Rice, and they personally wish to invite everyone to join them in supporting the event.
The evening includes an oyster roast, Southern low-country buffet that includes chicken bog and more, beverages and music. The evening is highlighted by great musical entertainment provided by the band Hot Notes, plus a large silent auction with an amazing auctioneer.
Ticket prices are $50 individually and $90 per couple. Tickets may be purchased until Nov. 10 online at friendspcgal.org/oysterroast, from board members or locally from Coyote Coffee locations in Pickens, Easley and Powdersville, Nalley’s Furniture in Liberty, the Guardian ad Litem office in Pickens and Antonio’s Pizza and Pasta in Powdersville.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the Friends of Pickens County Guardian ad Litem program, which has been providing holistic support to neglected and abused children since 2002. Over the past 10 years, the all-volunteer organization has raised more than $400,000 from significant fundraisers such as this year’s annual Clusters for Kids Oyster Roast.
• Pickens Lions Club invites locals to meet
The Pickens Lions Club has been serving the greater Pickens community since 1933. While its membership numbers have flexed over the years, one constant has remained — the club’s desire to help friends and neighbors in need. The club is beginning a dynamic upswing in membership and is looking for movers and shakers with fresh ideas who want to make a difference in the community. The Liberty Lions meet the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7 p.m. at Pizza Inn in Pickens. • Sertoma Club invites locals to meet
The Clemson Sertoma Club invites all local residents to attend its meetings. The club meets at noon the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Occasions at Wedgefield, located at 1551 Eighteen Mile Road in Central. New visitors are always welcome.
