• Vendor apps now available for Fall for Liberty 2013

Fall for Liberty 2013, a bluegrass event, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Liberty.

Vendors are now being accepted and can apply online at www.libertyscevents.com. Deadline for applications is Oct. 14. payment and forms can be dropped at Liberty City Hall. The event committee only accepts one vendor from any direct sales company (i.e. 31, Avon, etc.) and limits the number of spots for food vendors. Vendor spots are first-come, first-served when payment is received.

 

 

• Lynch reunion scheduled for Oct. 5

scheduled for Oct. 5A reunion of the descendants of Captain William Lynch will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Holly Springs Baptist Church (U.S. 178 at S.C. 11) Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 10 a.m.

 

 

• Pickens-Liberty Lions plan meetings

The Pickens-Liberty Lions Club is in need of new members. The club meets the first and third Thursday of every month at Pizza Inn in Pickens. Dinner begins at 6:40 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to anyone interested in joining the club or simply finding out more about the club and how it serves Pickens.

 

 • Winchester reunion planned for Sept. 15

The annual Winchester reunion will meet at the Shady Grove Baptist Church fellowship building on Sunday, September 15. The business meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. There will be a candle lighting memorial for deceased family members since the September 2012 reunion. Table accessories and ice will be provided, but each family is to bring a basket of food. Gary Keasler is serving as President.

 

• Trotter Clan reunion planned for Sept. 21

Descendants of George MacDuffie and Sarah O’Neal Trotter and Trotter Clan will hold a family reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. The reunion will be held at Griffin Baptist Church Fellowship building. For more information please call Jo Ann Brewer at 864-859-5501.

 

• Midway Baptist to hold Homecoming

Midway Baptist Church will hold its homecoming Sunday, Sept. 15. The Rowdy Mountain Boys will be singing at 11 a.m. Midway Baptist Church is located at 200 Midway Road, Pickens.

Everyone is invited to attend.

 

• Day family reunion planned for Sept. 15

The Day family reunion, including descendants of Bradwell Day and Elizabeth Cansler Day will be held on Sunday, September 15 at 1 p.m. The reunion will be held at J. B. Day’s Riverbend Old Stock Car Racing Museum at 154 Floyd Circle in Easley. Bring a picnic lunch or covered dish to share. Plates, napkins, cups, eating utensils and soft drinks provided. Parents and grandparents can assist young family members in filling out a genealogy chart.

Following lunch at group photos taken of descendants from the children of Bradwell and Elizabeth and all can view the JB’s collection of stock cars.

The family project in September 2011 not only funded the new fence around the Day Cemetery it also provided for a sign to identify the cemetery. The cemetery is located at the corner of Powdersville Road at Sondra Avenue, Easley.

• Saint Michaels to hold family yard sale

Find a Saturday deal and benefit community outreach by shopping at St. Michael’s Multi-Family Yard Sale on Sept. 14, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. In addition to everything from clothes to household goods, there will be breakfast and lunch plates available for purchase. Community members can participate in the sale and reserve a selling space for $10. Sellers can also rent round clothing racks and tables for $5 each. St. Michael’s Episcopal Church is located at 1200 Powdersville Road, Easley.

 

• Red Hill to host Fall Harvet Festival

On Friday, Sept. 13, Red Hill Baptist Church will host its second Fall Harvest Festival. 

This year it will begin at noon, with games for the children, baked goods for sale, and historical displays. From 2-4 p.m. will be live entertainment, and at 4:30 p.m. delicious BBQ plates will be sold for $3 per plate – plus delicious  baked goods sold for missions projects. 

There will also be bags of produce and information about the church and its ministries  given out upon your arrival. 

The church is located at 558 Red Hill  Rd. in Pickens. The event will end at 8 p.m.

 

• Holcombe, Granger reunion is Sept. 15

Descendants and friends of the late Barry C. and Rosella Granger – Holcombe are invited to the annual reunion Sunday, Sept. 15 at Arial Baptist Church Social Hall located at 618 Rice Rd., Easley. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Bring a well filled basket and drinks. Plates, cups, utensils and ice will be furnished. Bring your old photos. • Gillespie family reunion is October 6

The 65th annual Gillespie Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, October 6, at the Balsam Grove Community Center beginning at 11:45 a.m. The Community Center is located on Hwy. 215 N. (Parkway Rd.) just off Hwy. 64 near Rosman, N.C. Everyone has a special invitation to come. Please encourage all of your friends and family members to join us as well. Each family that attends is asked to bring a well-filled basket of food, along with a beverage of your choice. We come to renew family ties, compare notes, and demonstrate the kind of “Togetherness” that has made this country what it is today. Please make plans to join us.

 

 

• Jones Hill set to host silent auction on Oct. 5
