• Vendor apps now available for Fall for Liberty 2013

 

 Fall for Liberty 2013, a bluegrass event, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Liberty.

 

Vendors are now being accepted and can apply online at www.libertyscevents.com. Deadline for applications is Oct. 14. payment and forms can be dropped at Liberty City Hall. The event committee only accepts one vendor from any direct sales company (i.e. 31, Avon, etc.) and limits the number of spots for food vendors. Vendor spots are first-come, first-served when payment is received.

 

 

 

• Lynch reunion scheduled for Oct. 5

 

 A reunion of the descendants of Captain William Lynch will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Holly Springs Baptist Church (U.S. 178 at S.C. 11) Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 10 a.m.

 

 

 

• Pickens-Liberty Lions plan meetings

 

 The Pickens-Liberty Lions Club is in need of new members. The club meets the first and third Thursday of every month at Pizza Inn in Pickens. Dinner begins at 6:40 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to anyone interested in joining the club or simply finding out more about the club and how it serves Pickens.

 

 

 

• Trotter Clan reunion planned for Sept. 21

 

 Descendants of George MacDuffie and Sarah O’Neal Trotter and Trotter Clan will hold a family reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. The reunion will be held at Griffin Baptist Church Fellowship building. For more information please call Jo Ann Brewer at 864-859-5501.

 

 

 

• Gillespie family reunion is Oct. 6

 

 The 65th annual Gillespie Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Balsam Grove Community Center beginning at 11:45 a.m. The Community Center is located on Hwy. 215 N. (Parkway Rd.) just off Hwy. 64 near Rosman, N.C. Everyone has a special invitation to come.

 

Please encourage all of your friends and family members to join us as well.

 

Each family that attends is asked to bring a well-filled basket of food, along with a beverage of your choice. We come to renew family ties, compare notes, and demonstrate the kind of “Togetherness” that has made this country what it is today. Please make plans to join us.

 

 

 

• Jones Hill set to host silent auction on Oct. 5

 

 A silent auction, hot dog and bake sale will be held at Jones Hill Church of God located at 1014 Dalton Rd., Marietta, SC on Saturday , October 5. Ticket Sales, Hot Dogs and Bake Sale starts at 11.

• Soapstone to host meal fundraiser

 

 Soapstone Church is inviting everyone to a special fundraiser at the church, located at 296 Liberia Road in Pickens, this Saturday, September 21.

 

The event will feature fine cooking and will be held from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

 

Visitors will enjoy true southern cooking including a fish fry, barbecue and fried chicken with all the fixings right from Mrs. Mabel’s kitchen.

• Annual Baker family reunion is Oct. 6

 

 The annual reunion for descendants of Warren McFall Baker, Sr. and Mary Singleton Baker will be Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Pickens First Baptist Church, 406 East Main Street, Pickens.

 

Paper products and utensils will be provided. Bring lunch and drinks to share. Also bring photos and snapshots of family and past reunions or you can bring your picture on computer media (CD/flash drive/etc) to show. Friends are welcome.

 

 

 

• D.W. Daniel Class of ‘83 to reunite Sept. 27

 

The D.W. Daniel High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30th reunion on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Daniel football Homecoming game in Central.

• Chappell family reunion is Sept. 22

 

 

 

Family and friends of the late J.C. (Came) and Elizabeth Patterson Chappell are invited to their annual family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Holly Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Building in Pickens. Bring a well-filled basket and come enjoy the food and fellowship. Lunch will be served around 1:30 p.m. Donations will be taken for use of the building and utensils.

 

 

 

• Gilstrap family reunion is Sept. 22

 

 

 

The descendants of the late J. B. and Melvina Ramey Gilstrap reunion will be September 22 at Mt. Grove fellowship building. The lunch will begin at 1 p.m. Ice, plates, cups and utensils will be furnished. Please, bring a well filled basket and drink.

 

 

 

• Lewis family reunion is Oct. 6

 

 

 

Anthony B. and Evelyn Ellenburg Lewis Reunion will be held at Mt. Sinai Church Fellowship Building October 6th. Everyone is welcome. Please bring a filled basket.
