Barry Keith Hamlin
Gloucester, Va. —Barry Keith Hamlin, 57, died at his home in Gloucester, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013.
He was born in Greenville and had served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of Newington Baptist Church. He retired from Sanders Nursing Home in 2003 as administrator of assisted living.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his stories, and practical jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Hamlin, daughter Amanda Adams and her husband Douglas Leon, his parents Curtis and Claris Brackens Hamlin of Easley, his sister Phyllis Hamlin Peterson and her husband Gary of Orangeburg, and his grandchildren, John, Beau, Eliana, Violet, and Deacon.
The family will receive friends at Newington Baptist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 with services starting at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Men’s Ministry of Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main St., Gloucester, Va. 23061.

Lyda Hendricks Southerland
Pickens — Lyda H. Southerland, 84, loving wife of 64 years to Alvin Southerland, died, Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at the McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County a daughter of the late Dillard and Essie LaFoy Hendricks, Mrs. Southerland was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home, children; Elaine Porter (Gene), Virginia Richardson (Terry), Tammy Harrand (Leonard), Mitzi Jones (Larry), Randall Southerland, Gregory Southerland (Marie), Rodney Southerland
(Sue), 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a daughter in law; Kaye Southerland.
Mrs. Southerland was predeceased by her parents, a son; Michael Southerland, and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

Wallace N. Cisson
Easley — Wallace Newton Cisson, 86, of Cannery Road, husband of the late Millie Sue Roper Cisson, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at Ashlan Village in Lyman.
Born in Pickens County, the son of the late Hubert Newton and Gladys Mae Griffin Cisson, Mr. Cisson retired as owner of Wallace Cisson Painting and Floor Sanding Company and attended Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was a Shriner and a member and Past Master of Bates Masonic Lodge # 189 and a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army.
Surviving are a daughter, Shelia C. Welch and husband, David, of Campobello; two grandsons, Dr. Christopher Welch (Erin) and Brian Welch (Nicole).
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Cisson was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jo Chase and by a brother, Billy Lee Cisson.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Ethel E. Smith
Six Mile — Ethel Evette Smith, 75, of Josh Nicole Drive and wife of the late Jimmy Floyd Smith, Sr., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Marie Hayes Evette. Mrs. Smith was a Homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her sons, Jimmy F. Smith, Jr. (Pam) of Murrells Inlet and Greg Smith (Pam) of Easley; four grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Jackilyn Grate, Kristin Webb and Danielle Smith; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bethel Hudson of Pickens and Ruby Smith of Easley; and a brother, Reverend Jesse Evatte.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Easley — Mary Ann Dodgens Cox, 78, of Easley, wife of Lawrence Cox died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late James Riley Dodgens and Mary Lee Trotter, Mrs. Cox retired from textiles and was a member of Liberty Ministries International Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 52 years, are a son, Tommy Loggins (Denise); a daughter, Donna Garrick (Skip); a brother Cecil Dodgens; a sister, Vernell McJunkin; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Don Stockman
Pickens — William Donald “Don” Stockman, 75, husband of Barbara Farmsley Stockman, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013.
Don was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Herman Reginald and Dorothy Mae Bowman Stockman. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Barbara, a son, Don Stockman and a daughter, Tina Stockman and two grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Herbert Stockman, Jerry Gill, Mickey Gill, and Joseph Gill, and sisters, Martha Bennett, Shirley Biania, Roberta Crocker, and Jennie Warrix.
A service was conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 in the mausoleum chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Nancy Lou Aiken Trotter
Liberty — Nancy Lou Aiken Trotter, age 58, wife of James Robert Trotter, died Tuesday Oct. 22, 2013 in Greenville.
Mrs. Trotter was born in Pickens County a daughter of the late Ressie Mae Kelley Aiken and Thomas Feltz AIken. Mrs. Trotter was a member of Enon Baptist Church and a Homemaker. The family was gathered around her, before she went to be with the Lord singing, “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, two daughters; Melissa Rampersad and husband Benny of Spartanburg, Jennifer McSweeney and husband T.J. of Easley, two sisters; Jo Ann Phillips of Greenville, Martha Bearden and deceased husband Randall of Pickens, three brothers; Billy Harold Aiken and wife Sandra of Easley, Jimmy Aiken and wife Gail of Six Mile, Ronnie Aiken and wife Norma of Easley, five grandchildren; Trey McSweeney, Madison Rampersad, Kaylee Rampersad, Kadan McSweeney and Logan Rampersad.
Funeral Service was Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Tamara Youngblood
Easley — Tamara Diane Youngblood, 31, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013.
Born in Greenville County, to Mr. Sammy Joe Youngblood and Cheryl Youngblood Camp, Tamara was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are three sons, Anthony (Braxton) Cowart, and Kane, Kaleb Youngblood; a daughter, Bailey Kay Youngblood; a brother, Blake Camp; two sisters, Angela Jo Youngblood Hester, and Kelly Youngblood.

Rudolph Simmons
Easley — Rudolph “Doc” Simmons, 87, husband of the late Helen Meece Simmons, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Richard Campbell Veterans Home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Seth Julius Simmons and Estelle Riggins Simmons, he was a graduate of Easley High School and MUSC in Charleston. Mr. Simmons was the owner of a Liberty favorite, Simmons Rexall Drugs for 23 years where after school crowds gathered for his soda fountain treats. He was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church and a US Navy Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Michael Simmons; two daughters; Marsha (MJ) Shetron and Michele Fisher; two sisters, Cleon Sanders and Jean Burgess; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Simmons was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Ross, Julia Simmons and Nan Childs; one brother, Cecil Simmons.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Josephine McCreight
Pickens — Josephine Saunders Cantrell McCreight, widow of George McCreight, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013.
Mrs. McCreight was born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late William Mack and Lillie Connelly Saunders. She worked for Woodside Mills and was owner of Powdersville Alterations. Mrs. McCreight was the oldest member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Tommy Cantrell (Dorothy), Frank Cantrell (Kathy), and Joey Cantrell (Kim) all of Pickens and Poogie Cantrell (Beverly) of Easley; step-sons include Doug McCreight, Eddie McCreight, Mark McCreight, and Tim McCreight, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Bobbie Cassell of Pickens and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCreight was preceded in death by her first husband, John Cantrell, a son, Mackey Cantrell, a brother, William Saunders and a sister, Carol Gravely.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Easley — Herman Richard Sorrells, 84, of 474 Johnson Road, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at his home.
Born in Oconee County, the son of the late Rev. Ernest R. and Clemar Lee Sorrells, Mr. Sorrells retired from Pittman’s Textiles in Greenville and was a veteran of the US Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Burdette Sorrells of the home; a son, the Rev. Alan R. Sorrells (Debra) of York; a daughter, Helen Venable Owens (Mike) of Easley; and four grandchildren, Amanda Weatherford (Ray)and April Venable and Justin Sorrells (Keah) and Rebecca House (Sam).

McNeil Edens
Pickens — McNeil Poteat Edens, 96, of Pickens, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013.
McNeil was born in Pickens, a son of the late William Esley and Inez McClanahan Edens. He was retired from The U. S. Postal Service after 50 years service as a mail carrier. McNeil was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II stationed in India.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Oolenoy Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Linda Smith
Easley — Mrs. Linda Waldrop Smith, 65, wife of Gary Lee Smith, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late Fred Waldrop and Ione Phillips Lawrence, Mrs. Smith was a caring wife who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, making many trips to the Sturgis and Daytona rallies with Gary.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Lee Scott Smith of Simpsonville; a brother, Phil Lawrence of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a sister, Darlene Barnhardt of Nashville.
A memorial service was 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
