Essie Lee Taylor

Liberty — Essie Lee Barrett Taylor, 95, of 211 West Main Street, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Manna Health and Rehab. Born in Six Mile she was the widow of James Leland Taylor and a daughter of the late Jake and Ola Madden Barrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Jimmy Taylor of Liberty; two grandchildren, April Mahuen, and James Taylor.

She was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Taylor were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Hilton C. Eades

Marietta — Hilton Clyde Eades, 89, of 839 Dalton Road, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at his home.

Born in Oconee County, a son of the late the Rev. J.B. and Maggie Pearson Eades, Mr. Eades retired from Monoghan Mill after 42 years of service and was a member of Jones Hill Church of God where he belonged to the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Maxie McConnell Eades of the home; three brothers, Waymon Eades of Six Mile, Milford Eades of Walhalla and Paul Eades of Easley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eades was predeceased by two brothers, John Edward Eades and J.W. Eades and by four sisters, Clara Bell Smith, Ruth Hester, Blanche Simmons and Gladys Howard.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jones Hill Church of God Cemetery.

Miriam G. Wildin

Liberty — Mrs. Miriam Garbett Wildin, 76, wife of the late Lawrence K. Wildin, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at her home.

Born in Brooks County, Ga., a daughter of the late Roy Van and Lonnie Irene Lamon Garbett, Mrs. Wildin retired from sales and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, are a son, Larry Wildin (Rita) of Liberty, and Kenneth R. Wildin (Iris) of Lowndesville; two daughters, Charlotte A. Dillon (Terry) of Ohio, and Carolyn R. Cox (Matt) of N.C. 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wildin was predeceased by a brother, Lamar Garbett; and a sister, Reva Mitchell.

Graveside Services was 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15, in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Leonard Francis Doucette

Liberty — Mr Leonard Francis Doucette 67, of 235 Spring Valley Road Liberty, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gale Doucette; his brother, Philip Doucette of Gloucester, MA; his sisters, Janice Yennaco of Newbury Point,
MA, Denise Locker of Dover, NH, Andrea Doucette of Haverhill, MA, and his half-sister, Nicole Robinson of Greenville, SC; and his beloved dog, Fred,
and cat, Stubby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Irene Doucette.

The funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Brandon Trey Alexander

Six Mile — Brandon Trey Alexander, 13, of 135 Keowee Baptist Church Road, went home to see his Jesus Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of Regina Sue Alexander of the home and Stacy D. Stancil of Seneca.

Brandon was a seventh grader at R.C. Edwards Middle School. He loved his video games, his music, talking and helping his friends in need. He was a special person to his family and made everyone around him laugh.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memories are, two brothers, Austin Alexander and Ryan Stancil; grandparents, Susan Gail Alexander, Marvin Eugene Alexander, Linda Helen Barker, step grandfather, Ed Barker, and John Henry Stancil, Jr.; and his step father, Martin Gerald Latta, Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Six Mile.

Jimmy Doc “JD” Nix

Salem — Jimmy Doc Nix, 78, husband of Flora Mae Holcombe Nix died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at his home. Mr. Nix was born in Pickens County the son of the late Pearl Louise Parson Nix and Louie Robert Nix.

Mr. Nix was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved bluegrass, playing with his grandchildren and going to the flea market.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, four daughters; Sherry Lynn Nix Wheless of Salem, Nancy Nix Bryce and husband Gary of Pickens, Deborah Beth Nix Gilmer of Salem, Rhonda Nix Sullivan and husband Stan of Greenwood, one son; Jimmy Dale Nix of Warrenton, GA, three sisters; Ruby Crowe of Pickens, Ruth Evans and husband Kenneth of Travelers Rest, Sue Trimnal of Canton, NC, three brothers; James Edward Nix and wife Jean of Six Mile, Charles Louie Nix of Pickens, Roy Junior Nix and wife Tracy of Pickens, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Gap Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Six Mile.

Glenda M. Holcombe

Pickens — Glenda Medlin Holcombe, 60, of Red Hill Road, and wife of Greg Holcombe, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her home.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Sybil Swayngham Medlin.

Glenda was a graduate of Pickens High School and attended Greenville Technical College. She formerly was a bookkeeper with Woodside Mill in Easley, worked for the Pickens Sentinel and owned and operated Glenda’s Hair and Nails Salon. She was a very talented writer and loved writing songs for her family and for some famous musicians. She also was a former member of the SC Songwriters Association.

Glenda always put her family first. She was a homemaker and loving mother to her children, Allison Suzanne Holcombe, Gregory Alan Holcombe, Jr. and Andrew Glenn Holcombe; and her grandchildren, Samuel Orion Holcombe, Jonas Wylie Holcombe and Coen James Holcombe who is due to arrive in late Jan. 2015. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Jan Nations and Lynne Clayton.

A service to celebrate Glenda’s life was held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at noon in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Walter E. “Gene” Tollison

Easley — Mr. Walter Eugene “Gene” Tollison, 81, died Friday, November 14,
2014 at St. Francis Hospital-Downtown.

Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Walter Tillman and Pallie Elizabeth Spearman Tollison, Mr. Tollison was the retired owner and operator of Blue Ridge Tool and Machine and was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Furman University and a US Navy
Reserve veteran.

Surviving are the mother of his son, Gail C. Tollison; his son, Christopher Edward “Chris” Tollison (Stephanie) of Simpsonville; a daughter, Gena
Thomas (Jeff) and their children of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Jake Tollison
of Greer; a sister, Jane Dixon of Tigerville; and five grandchildren, Carson, Garrett, and Ellie Tollison, and Kory and Adam Griggs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tollison was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Tollison; and two sisters, Marguerite Ann Stone and Mary Sue Ashworth.

Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of
Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Daniel L. Nalley, Sr.

Easley — Mr. Daniel Luther Nalley Sr., 86, husband of Bernice Evatt Nalley, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at his home.

Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Luther David and Ola Mae Smith Nalley, Mr. Nalley retired from Smith Builders and formerly attended Easley First Wesleyan Church, then attended Potters Clay Fellowship until his sickness. In his free time he enjoyed gardening.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are a son, Daniel L. Nalley, Jr. (Pam) of Easley; two daughters, Vickie D. McDaniel (Len Moss) of Burlington, NC, and Valinda C. Roberts of the home; two brothers, Joseph Nalley (Eloise) of Easley, and Charles Nalley (Bobbie) of Shelby, NC. Mr. Nalley is also survived by two grandchildren; Joshua Nalley and Andrew Roberts
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; George Nalley and Jimmy Nalley; and three sisters, Lillian Knight, Leila Price, and Elizabeth Patton.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 19 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road with the Rev. Lewis Edwards and the Rev. Carlton Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m.

The family is at the residence.

Vivian “Adelle” Stancil

Liberty — Vivian “Adelle” Barkley Stancil, 90, of 152 Stancil Road, died on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Stancil retired from the School District of Pickens County, and was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. She loved to grow her flowers and was an excellent seamstress.

Surviving are two daughters, Martha Jean Ferguson and Becky Ramey both of Liberty; four sons, Herbert and Allen Stancil both of Liberty, Roger Stancil of Easley, and the Rev. Tony Stancil of Pickens; two sisters, Lucille Pilgrim of Six Mile, and Coleen Kennemer of Pickens; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Greg Stancil, and a great granddaughter, Ansley Claire Stancil.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Stancil are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Prater’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
