Norris — Inez Ross Bryant, 78, of 400 N. Norris Drive, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens.

Born in Oconee County, she was the widow of Jack Anderson Bryant and was a daughter of the late J.B. and Brodie Ables Ross. She was retired from Libco Mills and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, V.V. Massey (Andrew) of Williamston; a son, Chip Bryant(Cindy) of Laurens; three sisters, Betty Dickard of Liberty, Florence O’Neal of Norris and Pauline Gilstrap of Norris; grandchildren, Kayla Massey and Preston Dunning; and a special step-great-grandchild, Isaac Bass.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Bryant, three sisters, Louise Bates, Joyce Johnson and Frances Ross; and a brother, Jack Ross.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Bryant were held May 6 at Westview Cemetery.

B.J. Holcombe

Easley — Barry Johnathon “B.J.” Holcombe, 33, of Cedar Rock Church Road, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

Born in Easley, he was the son of Barry Holcombe of Easley and the late Sherri Norris Holcombe.

B.J. was a member of Arial Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on and restoring John Deere tractors and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his father is a son, Johnathon Forister Holcombe; a brother, Matt Holcombe of Easley; a sister, Jessica Ann Holcombe of Lexington; grandparents, Johnny Holcombe of Easley and Furman and Edna Norris of Norris.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his grandmother, Beatrice Holcombe.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 8, at Arial Baptist Church. Burial followed at Fairview Church of God in Seneca.

Roger Darrell Tipton

EASLEY — Roger Darrell Tipton, 59, of Easley passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Palmetto Heath in Columbia.

Born Aug. 9, 1955, in Greenville County, he was the son of Buddy O. Tipton and Betty Jewell Jones. Mr. Tipton was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines, and was a building contractor. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Tipton loved his grandsons and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughters, Rachel Tipton and Ashley Tipton; sister, Felecia Duncan; brother, Donnie Tipton; and grandsons, Kayden Ferguson and Isaiah Kruz.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Tret Bates and Shannon Jones.

Marilyn Cooper

Pickens — Marilyn Pitts Cooper, 79, widow of Charlie T. Cooper, passed from this life Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late William and Viola Hinton Pitts. She was retired from Hardee’s in Pickens as breakfast manager, and she was a member of Cannon Mountain Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Charles R. Cooper of Simpsonville, daughters, Tommie Townes (Jack) and Teresa Cassell, all of Pickens, grandchildren Randall Townes (Melissa), Stacey Cisson (Michael), Shelli Holcombe (Rockie), Jodi Pearson (Travis), Jena Durham (Terry), and Matt Cooper. Also surviving is a brother, the Rev. John Pitts of Greer, and sisters, Rachel Neal of Greer, Helen Hendricks of Pickens, Bertha McCall of Six Mile and Virginia Phillips of Easley.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Pitts, Jack Pitts and the Rev. Ralph Pitts and sisters, Jessie Mae Neal, Mildred Middleton and Ola Faye Simmons.

Dillard Funeral Home held services May 9. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Joseph Charles Owens

Easley — Joseph Charles Owens, 56, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015. Joe was born in Hampton, Va., the son of Lula Belle McCall of Balsam Grove, N.C., and the late Cleon Charles Owens.

Joe loved fishing, hunting and firing his guns. Joe loved his family with all of his heart and also loved riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his mother; two daughters, April Owens of Greenville and Heather Davis and husband Jarvis of Liberty; two sons, Ryan Owens of Easley and Jeremie Owens of Columbia; grandson. Eli Davis of Liberty; three sisters, Angel, Carrie and Dorothy Ann; brother, Chris; many nieces and nephews and also loved and cared for by Susan Owens.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Joyce Sanders

PickEns — Betty Joyce Fowler “Joy” Sanders, 76, wife of Walter D. Sanders, passed from this life on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at her home.

Joy was born in Greenville County, daughter of the late Columbus and Lena Norwood Fowler. She was retired from OWT in Pickens.

Survivors include her husband, Walter, of the home, a son, Richard Michael King of Cleveland, daughters, Cynthia Lynn King-Snyder of Pickens and Catherine Ann Childers (Edward) of Pickens. Granddaughters include Melissa Lyn Childers of Rock Hill and Jennifer Joy Spalliero of Pickens.

A private service will be held.
